RACE 1. TABSARI PTY LTD CHRIS MURRAY CONTRACTING MAIDEN PLATE 1000M

At the 500m OCTELLO ( S Apthorpe ) was tightened for room between GEE AYE GEE GEE (B Powell) which shifted out slightly and CALYPSO MAGIC ( Appr T Serjeant ).

TAILAKE (D McMaster) hung out at the 800m turn taking DOWNTHEMOONIE (W O’Connell) wider on the track. TAILAKE hung out on the home turn.

When questioned as to the improved performance of the winner TAILAKE, trainer B Park advised that the gelding had improved greatly with the addition of blinkers to its gear and also the weaker class of today’s race was a factor. Explanation noted.

RACE 2. CAMPBELL’S FUEL SERVICE QTIS CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1000M

CONHENRI (G Geran) slow to jump.

SARSGHI (W O’Connell) jumped in at the start and REALEE (J Kehoe) jumped outwards causing I’M NO PUSSY (D Mc Master) which was drawn between them to be tightened and lose ground.

REALEE raced very wide throughout.

SARSGHI lost ground at the 600m when it did not handle the softer racing surface at this point.

CONHENRI was eased slightly when crossed by DIAMOND HEIST (Appr R Ride) at the 800m.

RACE 3. SIZER & COGILL BULK CARRIERS FLINTON CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1000m

PIPERS POINT (B Powell) was slow to jump.

WIGPOOL (G Geran) reared as the gates opened and lost ground.

SEQ THE GENERAL (W O’Connell) moved in at the 600m placing DOM PAOLO (S Apthorpe) in restricted room.

At the 80m DOM PAOLO was eased when crossed by TORNADOES (Appr R Ride) which moved in sharply when not quite clear of that horse. It was evident that the rider of DOM PAOLO anticipated TORNADOES moving across which limited the inconvenience to his horse. R Ride was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear and not making an attempt to straighten.

RACE 4. AUST-MECH CONVEYERS CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M

THE AWESOME (G Geran) jumped with its head in the air and was slow into stride.

At the 700m GENERAL KINGSMAN (Appr R Ride) scraped the running rail when racing to the inside of RHYTHM NATION (Appr T Serjeant). After considering the evidence before them, stewards could not attribute blame to any rider as the patrol video was inconclusive.

WINNING APPROACH (D MC Master) ran wide on the home turn and raced greenly at this point.

RACE 5 NATIONAL FARMERS WAREHOUSE CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1200m

SKEYANA (S Apthorpe) was unable to match the pace in the early stages and was tailed off however the mare made up considerable ground in the latter stages of the race.
