LOCKYER RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT

WEATHER - Fine TRACK - Good RAIL - True


RACE 1: HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY AMY MAIDEN PLATE - 860M .

BARBARIAN and THE ROCK DOG were both slow to begin.

BARBARIAN was obliged to race wide throughout.

App L Fyfe was reprimanded for failing to weight in for 5th on MY BLUE JAY.

RACE 2: VALLEY BEEF MAIDEN PLATE - 1400M

MISS SHARPSHORTER was declared a late scratching at 1:12pm when it was found that trainer T Johnson failed to scratch the mare by the prescribed time. Deductions of 9 cents the win on the face value of the tickets and 10 cents the place on the face value of the tickets with all monies above the line to be refunded. Trainer T Johnson will be interviewed at a later date about his failure to scratch the mare.

App C Pay was questioned in regards to the tactics adopted on SIR ATTITUDE. App Pay reported that SIR ATTITUDE travelled extremely wide rounding the first turn. App C Pay also stated that SIR ATTITUDE had a tendency to hang out in his races and was of the opinion the gelding resented the addition of the cross over noseband today, as the gelding threw its head in the air on a number of occasions. His comments were noted.

App S Drake and App M Price were interviewed in relation to the early pace set by both riders, App Price stated that she was instructed to press forward on RISDON FLASH in the early stages and obtain the lead, she further stated that with the addition of the blinkers today the mare pulled very hard and she was unable to restrain her. App S DRAKE stated that it was the mares racing pattern to lead as she was inclined to stop when passed by other runners. Furthermore TOO TOUGH began to race fiercely when taken on by RISDON FLASH. Both their explanations were noted.

Prior to the announcement of correct weight of the numbers 4-9-7-6, stewards requested the photo finish print for 4th place. After consultation with the judge the placings were amended to 4-9-7-15 and correct weight was given.

RACE 3: PURA MILK CLASS 2 - 1400M

EARLSTOUN GRACE and MAGIC LAND were both slow to begin

FIRES jumped away awkwardly.

NOHOLME GOLD raced ungenerously rounding the first turn, ANGEL ANNIE, which was following, had to be eased and shifted in making contact with the running rail.

ANGEL ANNIE had to be steadied approaching the 100m when both NOHOLME GOLD and EWANJO shifted ground under pressure. Both L Appo and APP L Fyfe were reminded of their obligations to straighten their mounts when shifting ground

THE WINNER TOO DARK WAS SWABBED

RACE 4: SUPA IGAGATTON CUP - 2000M

B Thomson was unable to arrive on course due to travel difficulties and as a result C Pay was permitted to ride PROUD BUCK.

Due to the cross over noseband on KINGCIDON breaking prior to the running of the race, stewards permitted the gear change of cross over noseband off.

App S Drake was fined $50 for failing to claim her full allowance.

COUNTER AGENT and HEALER were both slow to begin.

Rounding the first turn FARISIKNOW sustained an open fracture of the distal left fore and was retired from the race. As a result COUNTER AGENT was severely checked and shifted off taking SILVER GHOST and PROUD BUCK were forced wider on the track, KINGCIDON was also inconvienced in this incident. On advice from the vet FARISIKNOW was euthanased on humane grounds.

RACE 5: GATTON STAR QTIS CLASS 1 - 1100M

YANDINA LASS knuckled on jumping and lost ground.

Approaching the 900m DOTSWOOD shifted out and away from DIAGON DUCHESS making heavy contact with WHO IS JOE, resulting in HALF CARAT and WINNUNGA being forced wider on the track. FLORACE, which was following, was also hampered in this incident.

DOTSWOOD was hampered over the concluding stages by MONCHERO, which shifted in under pressure.

THE WINNER SHEZAWRAN WAS SWABBED

RACE 6: PANASONIC STUDIO PRODUCTION QTIS CLASS 1 - 1100M

HEAVENLY DANE shifted out on jumping away and made heavy contact with TOMS DANCER.

KWILAVILLE stuck itself leaving the 900m and became unbalanced.

PRARIE FOX was inclined to hang out for the entire race.

A post race vet examination of PRARIE FOX failed to reveal any abnormalities.

A post race vet examination of KWILAVILLE revealed a minor abrasion to the off hind tendon.

RACE 7: BRIGALOW HOME BREW CLASS 4 - 1600M

CONDAMINE DANCER was obliged to race wide throughout.

GOLD KING shifted out rounding the home turn making contact with LORD CLINTON.

LORD CLINTON was held up for clear running in the straight.

Jockey M Crawford was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip on STEEL STARS

THE WINNER IDLE WARRIOR WAS SWABBED.
