RACE 1:XXXX GOLD MAIDEN PLATE 1100M –
1st –Go Easy 2nd –Cold Tap 3rd-Belle Bird 4th –Tekke Bokhara

Stewards ordered the Late Scratching of GO RONNY at 12:49pm after the filly took charge of its rider during the preliminary and completed 3 laps of the track before being restrained by its rider. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on GO RONNY be refunded with deductions of 10 cents the win and 12 cents the place to apply to all successful bets made below the line.

Stewards ordered the further Late Scratching of MR NUNCIO at 12:53pm after that gelding refused to load into the barriers. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on MR NUNCIO be refunded with deductions of 4 cents the win and 5 cents the place to apply on all successful bets made above the line.

The trainer of GO RONNY Mr J Byrne was advised by Stewards that they would expect the filly to be lead to the barriers at its future race starts to avoid a similar situation occurring in the future.

The trainer of MR NUNCIO Mr H Brown was advised by Stewards that the gelding would be required to Barrier Trail to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.

TEKKE BOKHARA (K James) was examined by the club Vet after being kicked at the barriers. TEKKE BOKHARA was cleared to takes its place in the field.

TOHELL’N’BACK (A Badger) jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.

TEKKE BOKHARA began awkwardly losing ground.

ZENNOR (B Powell) and COLD TAP (S Apthorpe) were both slow to begin.

Leaving the 900m, TEKKE BOKHARA hit the fence of its own accord.

At the 800m, BEL LE BIRD (D Green) struck the rail of its own accord and shifted out making contact with CHESTADRAW (B Cornell).

Near the 600m, TOHELL’N’BACK shifted out forcing XAARSPARALLA (L Appo) to shift out to avoid the heels of COLD TAP.

GO EASY (W Clasohm) and COLD TAP made contact over the concluding stages after both horses shifted ground under pressure.

RACE 2: RPM MAIDEN PLATE 1400M–
1st –Shake the Lantern 2nd –Locheil Lad 3rd –Weslang 4th –Orhtac

RIO MAGIC was declared a Late Scratching by order of the Stewards at 1:15pm after Trainer P Curran suffered transport difficulties on route to the track. Upon declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on RIO MAGIC be refunded with deductions of 10 cents the win and 10 cents the place to apply to all successful bets.

PABBA (C Eaton) was very slow to begin and lost considerable ground. Stewards advised trainer W Gesler that PABBA would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.

WESLANG (W Clasohm) was slow to begin.

SHAKE THE LANTON (W Cook) and FLAMBOYANCE (A Badger) raced wide for the majority of the event.

THE LAST JUROR (G Auckram) raced wide during the early and middle stages.

Near the 500m, THE LAST JUROR was tightened for room and forced to ease when racing between FLAMBOYANCE and LOCHEIL LAD (R Hurley) which shifted out to obtain clear running. Jockey Hurley was reprimanded for this incident.

WESLANG shifted out under hard riding over the concluding stages.

Approaching the 1000m, SHAKE THE LANTERN shifted out bumping FLAMBOYANCE which shifted wider on the track.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by R Hurley the rider of the 2nd placegetter, LOCHEIL LAD, against SHAKE THE LANTERN (W Cook) being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 1100m. Stewards in dismissing the protest did acknowledge that LOCHEIL LAD was interfered with and lost its position near the 1100m, however Stewards were unable to fully attribute the interference suffered to LOCHEIL LAD to SHAKE THE LANTERN. Stewards were also mindful of where interference took place in relation to the finish of the event. Therefore declared correct weight on the judge's original numbers of 4-2-7-9.

At a subsequent inquiry it was found that near the 1100m, SOMOYA (J Brown) and LOCHEIL LAD were both severely tightened for room and forced to check when racing to the inside of SHAKE THE LANTERN which shifted in when improving to the inside of FLAMBOYANCE. Stewards after considering all submissions and viewing the video evidence were unable to disprove jockey Cook’s belief that FLAMBOYANCE shifted in, thus causing the interference. Stewards therefore deemed the video evidence inconclusive and were unable to satisfy themselves that jockey Cook was the soul contributor to the incident and therefore afforded jockey Cook the benefit of a very grave doubt.

RACE 3:SCHULTE’S MEAT TAVERN CLASS 3 PLATE 1400M-
1st –Mr Mayfair 2nd –Johnny Aucash 3rd –Tact 4th –Naniwa

Stewards upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on COMETAPUPPA be refunded with deductions of 3 cents the win and 4 cents the place to apply on all successful bets.

Stewards advised Trainer L Schwenke’s stable representative that COMETAPUPPA would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.

The race was further delayed after the riderless horse broke through the barriers as Stewards ordered that the runners already loaded into the barriers be removed as a safety precaution.
DIVINEINTERVENTION (D Green) was slow to begin.

NANIWA (B Cornell) and CARRY ON KENZIE both raced wide throughout.

CHICAGO BOY (R Hurley) raced wide from the 600m.

RACE 4:MULGOWIE HOTEL GATTON CUP OPEN H’CAP 2000M-

Stewards will conclude the inquiry at a time and date to be fixed into the reason why DARTBOLT (B Cornell) fell at the winning post on the first occasion. Stewards after taking evidence from all riders adjourned the matter to allow jockey Cornell to be present as he was transported to hospital to obtain further medical attention.

Due to DARTBOLT falling and sustaining a serious injury Stewards ordered the starter and barrier attendants who were positioned at the 350m, to flag the remainder of field down due to the safety concern with the injured horse remaining on the track. As all horses were successfully pulled up by their riders by the time they reached the finish line Stewards declared the event a No Race.

As DARTBOLT had sustained a fracture to the near hind Abaxial Bone it was euthanized on humane grounds acting on veterinary advice.
