Race 2: CELLARBRATIONS GATTON QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP - 1100M

Stewards permitted D. Carrigg to replace V. Colgan, who was not riding at the meeting, as the rider of FROSTY DIAMOND.

ZOOMING AWAY (J. Missen) stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. Trainer’s representative Mr G. Green advised that ZOOMING AWAY would now be sent for a spell.

NUCLEATION (B. Stower) began awkwardly and then a short distance later shifted in and bumped BARAKULA (E. Ljung), and as a consequence shifted out, resulting in NATURALLY BLUE (P. Holmes) having to be steadied from the heels of NUCLEATION.

Leaving the 700m BARAKULA had to be restrained from the heels of SEQUALEX (S. Bogenhuber).

K. Yoshida (OUTBACK WRANGLER) reported that he lost the use of his nearside iron for a short distance on jumping away.

Race 3: GATTON HAWKS CLASS 3 PLATE - 1100M

BAR QUEEN JOJO (T. Brooker) blundered at the start.

LORD BEAUFORT (J. Orman) raced ungenerously in the early stages.

Race 4: LOCKYER RACE CLUB COMMITTEE MAIDEN H’CAP - 1100M

Stewards permitted apprentice E. Ljung to ride HONEY BE WARNED claiming only 1.5 kg of her 2 kg allowance. Apprentice Ljung was reprimanded for failing to claim her full allowance.

SHOWAMIA (C. Schmidt) reared at the start.

ASYOUDO (N. Tomizawa) was tightened for room at the start between HONEY BE WARNED (E. Ljung) and MISS ALEXANDRA (C. Kearney), which shifted in.

BAABAA BAWBAW (P. Holmes) began awkwardly, making heavy contact with WHYDOTHISTOME (S. Apthorpe). As a result, BAABAA BAWBAW lost ground and the rider became awkward in the saddle.

GUMDALE BOY (A. Erhart) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 600m SHOWAMIA became awkward at the heels of SHAFTSMAN (D. Missen) and had to be steadied.

Over the concluding stages SHOWAMIA had to be steadied to the inside of SHAFTSMAN, which shifted in.

A post-race veterinary examination of GUMDALE BOY revealed no abnormalities.

Race 5: ROYAL HOTEL COUNTRY QUEENSLAND SHOWCASE GATTON CUP OPEN H’CAP - 2000M

Trainer T. White was fined $100 for failing to declare K. Yoshida as the rider of JETSCAPE by the prescribed time.

VESPER (J. Orman) began awkwardly and lost ground.

MARKOUT (S. Apthorpe) had to be restrained from the heels of MAIN STREET (M. Hellyer) when overracing near the 1600m.

When asked to comment on the disappointing performance of MAIN STREET, rider M. Hellyer stated that the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout the event and in his opinion did not appreciate racing on the firm surface of today’s track. A post-race veterinary examination of MAIN STREET revealed no significant findings other than that the horse had a small laceration to the off foreleg consistent with being galloped on.

Race 6: XXXX GOLD CLASS 1 H’CAP - 1400M

Trainer B. Robinson advised that RAZOR CASTLE, which has been getting back at its most recent starts, would be ridden in a more forward position today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

ALMASEA (A. Fancourt) stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground.

I’M GOING DOWN (S. Bogenhuber), SHINZIGZAG (N. Evans), SAYORI (M. Hellyer) and JAYELEM (J. Orman) were all tightened for room at the start between O’BRO (R. Payne), which shifted out, and WITHOUT GRIEF (B. Cornell).

Near the 200m SHINZIGZAG improved on to heels and had to shift wider on the track to obtain clear running.

M. Hellyer (SAYORI) reported at scale that his mount was inclined to lay out throughout the event.

B. Cornell (WITHOUT GRIEF) was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Apprentice J. Orman reported to stewards that JAYELEM did not feel comfortable in its action throughout the event. Stewards will interview trainer S. Hicks regarding the horse’s post-race recovery.

A post-race veterinary examination of I’M GOING DOWN revealed no significant findings.

Race 7: MACK TRUCKS BM75 H’CAP - 1400M

Near the 400m GAELSTORM had to be eased when tightened for room between TAYSTAR and MAC’S ADDITION, which shifted out when not fully clear. Apprentice N. Nishio, the rider of MAC’S ADDITION, was severely reprimanded for this incident.

Apprentice N. Nishio, the rider of MAC’S ADDITION, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in under pressure over the concluding stages whilst riding it along, resulting in SLYSERA (J. Orman) being tightened for room and having to be steadied to avoid the heels of MAC’S ADDITION.

Apprentice N. Nishio, the rider of MAC’S ADDITION, was fined $200 for making a celebratory gesture prior to his mount passing the winning post.
