RACE 1 – EPARCELS MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1800 METRES

When the pace slackened leaving the 1000 metres GUNDAIR and CHIEF CRAZY HORSE both had to be restrained to avoid the heels of TEARS OF GOLD and MANIFEST.



RACE 2 – BUSINESS POST MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

S. SHIELD (THE DON) was fined the sum of $100.00 for returning to scale in excess of one-half kilo over his declared weight.

In the early and middle stages BYTRAIN overraced.

REIN NE VA PLUS made the home turn extremely wide.

In the home straight MRS. O’BE shifted outwards under pressure forcing IDLER wider on the track.

Near the 300 metres REDSCAY shifted out slightly inconveniencing BYTRAIN.



RACE 3 – POSTPAK MAIDEN HANDICAP – 900 METRES

DANCE ‘N’ SWAY lost considerable ground at the start after being slow away.

CLUB PORT reared slightly and lost ground at the start.

Rounding the home turn LORD TENNYSON was held up for clear running and had to be checked off the heels of BAA HA after receiving a bump from HULIOUS which shifted in momentarily.

At no stage in the home straight did LORD TENNYSON obtain clear running and near the 100 metres became unbalanced for some distance when endeavouring to take a narrow run on the fence and to the inside of DISTINCT DANGER.

Inside the final 100 metres VERMILION FIRE had to be restrained to avoid the heels of COUNTER GIRL after shifting in under pressure. This resulted in DANCE ‘N’ SWAY which was following having to be eased and shifted in abruptly to avoid its heels.

Also inside the final 100 metres ENTITY had difficulty in obtaining clear running and also had a tendency to race quite greenly.



RACE 4 – INTERNATIONAL POST HANDICAP – 900 METRES

NO REPORT.



RACE 5 – AUSTRALIA POST WELTER – 900 METRES

Trainer B. Bowditch was fined $50.00 for failing to declare a rider for DON’T TELL SEAN by the prescribed time.

APP. M. RODD (KYMESSA) was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 500 metres when not quite clear of DON’T TELL SEAN resulting in that horse having to be eased.



RACE 6 – THE LEAGUES’ CLUBS ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

The start of this race was delayed when ODENSE was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and found to be lame in the off fore leg. The mare was subsequently a late withdrawal at 3.59 p.m.on Veterinary advice. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on ODENSE were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 9 cents in the dollar for a win and 11 cents in the dollar for a place on the face value of the ticket.

MY LYSANDER LAD was slow away.

Shortly after the start MYSTIC LADY had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CARTONS which shifted in when not clear. D. TANTI (CARTONS) was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.



RACE 7 – POST DIRECT HANDICAP - - 1300 METRES

ALL NATIVE blundered on jumping and lost ground.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of RASADEL today A. COWIE explained that if he was unable to lead he was to take a sit, which he was able to do, and that the gelding travelled very well to the home turn. However, when he asked it for an effort it failed to run on. A Veterinary examination of RASADEL after the race revealed no obvious abnormality.

A Veterinary examination of HE’S A TREASURE after the race revealed that the gelding to be displaying signs of soreness in the near fore foot.

RACE 8 – EXPRESS POST HANDICAP – 1300 METRES
