AFTER RACE 6)

RAIL: OUT 2.5M FROM THE 1800M TO THE 1000M

STEWARDS’
PANEL: MR T. BAILEY (CHAIRMAN), MR J. GRAHAM, MR J. HAIGH,
MR D. TAPSALL AND MR M. TUTT (CADET)

RACE 1 – TIM BURGESS CONCRETE SERVICES MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

R. GOLTZ was questioned regarding the poor performance of OUR SECRET AGENT today. He explained that his mount jumped inward, raced quite greenly and failed to handle the slow track conditions. A Veterinary inspection of OUR SECRET AGENT after the race revealed no obvious abnormality.

RACE 2 – HAYLEY POWER MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

On jumping DAYLIGHT AHEAD, MEDIA TRICKS, POWER AND DESIRE and HOH NO were all severely crowded when BINALONG LASS shifted out and away from TRIPLE GENIUS and HEY HAROLD which shifted in. Whilst the degree of interference was severe the Stewards were satisfied that there was no rider error.

As A. COWIE was found to be suffering from a virus Stewards permitted the following replacement riders:-

Race 2 STYLISH VEE K. BELL
Race 3 JON PAUL G. BIRNEY
Race 4 STAR MINER M. BENNETT
Race 5 JAY ELL L. HARRIS
Race 8 MUSIC VIDEO N. JOLLY

RACE 3 – T.E. & R.E. WARD PAINTING CONTRACTORS MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1800 METRES

AESOPS FABLES was a late withdrawal at 8.30 a.m. acting on Veterinary advice.

As A. RABY was indisposed Stewards permitted R. MORRIS to be substituted as the rider of REBEL CHIEF.

For some distance after the start ROYAL JEST shifted out several horses despite the efforts of its rider M. BENNETT inconveniencing REBEL CHIEF, LOOKS LIKE MONEY and CALL TO HONOUR.

Jockey A. GILLETT (MAGIC COMMAND) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1300 metres when not clear of LOOKS LIKE MONEY forcing that horse in across the rightful running of REBEL CHIEF which was checked. A. GILLETT’S licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) meetings to commence midnight 12 December 2000 and to expire midnight 26 December 2000.

In the early and middle stages of the race LOOKS LIKE MONEY raced very fiercely.

In the home straight CALL TO HONOUR was inclined to lay in obliging its rider APP. M. RODD to stop riding with the whip.

A number of Veterinary examinations were carried out after the race which revealed:-

MAGIC COMMAND suffered from heat stress;
LOOKS LIKE MONEY suffered a laceration to the tongue and also lost a tooth;
GATWICK EXPRESS shifted its off fore plate during running and pricked itself.

An inspection of ROYAL JEST revealed no obvious abnormalities.

RACE 4 – ‘NO LIMIT’ PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT HANDICAP – 1800 METRES

FEEL THE BLUES was slow away.

G. O’SULLIVAN (MARQUIS) was issued with a reprimand for shifting in when not quite clear of INAPPROPRIATE when that horse eased.

G. O’SULLIVAN (MARQUIS) was fined the sum of $100.00 for returning to scale in excess of one-half kilo over his declared weight.

RACE 5 – PIONEER MORTGAGE SERVICES HANDICAP – 1800 METRES

APP. M. RODD (MORINGA’S GULLIVER) pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift out rounding the home turn when not clear of DANCING TALENT causing that horse to be checked. M. RODD’S licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) meetings to commence midnight 12 December 2000 and to expire midnight 24 December 2000.

RACE 6 – FREESTONE & KUMNICK SOLICITORS HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

As T. DUCKETT was overweight Stewards permitted B. COURTNEY to be substituted as the rider of TIME KING. T. DUCKETT was fined $50.00 under AR120(b) for accepting a ride when found to be overweight.

For a major part of the race TIME KING hung in. After considering submissions from Trainer K. Tyquin Stewards took no direct action against the horse however, he did indicate that the gelding would be leaving his stable.

Near the 200 metres B. COURTNEY (TIME KING) dropped his whip.

The track was upgraded to DEAD after the running of this race.

RACE 7 – THE B.M.D. GROUP HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

After jumping awkwardly VIVID MISS shifted out and made heavy contact with SEQUENTLY.

Also on jumping JEAN shifted out and made heavy contact with LIGHTAS which in turn shifted out and hampered DINNYHAYSER.

Leaving the 1000 metres the pace of the race slackened and this resulted in DINNYHAYSER overracing for some distance to a point where it had to be checked to avoid the heels of SEQUENTLY.

Approaching the 200 metres NEW QUEEN was taken out slightly by BORN BRIGHT and then NEW QUEEN continued to shift out of its own accord and had to be checked off the heels of SEQUENTLY. G. O’SULLIVAN (BORN BRIGHT) was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

RACE 8 – JIM BEAM HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

MUSIC VIDEO was slow away.

Leaving the 1300 metres TONTORE shifted out searching for a firmer surface and in doing so made contact with MALFUNCTION on several occasions.
