RACE 1 – KEVIN PARKINSON REAL ESTATE MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

As D. CRAVEN had engagements at Doomben today Stewards permitted G. PALMER to be substituted as the rider of CELTIC DYNASTY. Stewards will interview D. CRAVEN at a later date.

CELTIC DYNASTY jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 200 metres ARAKHAN shifted out and made contact with ULTRA MODERN.



RACE 2 – MAXXIUM AUSTRALIA MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

PINCER was slow away.

Approaching the 900 metres ANOTHER ANNIE which was obliged to momentarily race inside the line of the running rail had to be steadied off the heels of SHERIFF WOODY which shifted in slightly. SHERIFF WOODY then shifted out and had to be checked off the heels of PINCER. P. BROWN (SHERIFF WOODY) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.



RACE 3 – KEVIN PARKINSON REAL ESTATE MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1800 METRES

As N. JOLLY was indisposed Stewards permitted C. SMALL to be substituted as the rider of TOSSALINA and D. COLEMAN as the rider of VIVID MISS (Race 7).

The start of this race was delayed when PETE’S REVENGE made heavy contact with the outside fence on the way to the barriers. The gelding was a late withdrawal at 2.03 p.m. on Veterinary advice. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on PETE’S REVENGE were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 5 cents in the dollar for a win and 6 cents for a place on the face value of the ticket.

TOSSALINA which broke through the barriers was quickly reigned in by its rider C. SMALL. A Veterinary examination passed the filly fit to start.

LUSKIN GOLD refused to jump at the start. Trainer S. SMITH was advised that LUSKIN GOLD must pass an official barrier trial prior to its next start.

Approaching the 1000 metres when the pace slackened TATHRA ROAD which was overracing had to be steadied off the heels of TOSSALINA and shifted out. LUSKIN WARRIOR improved to the inside of TATHRA ROAD. TATHRA ROAD then resumed its position which resulted in LUSKIN WARRIOR being checked and shifted in onto NOBLE DISTINCTION which was hampered. M. BENNETT (TATHRA ROAD) was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Approaching the 50 metres TOSSALINA which was inclined to shift in and away from TATHRA ROAD made heavy contact with CUDDLIN’ which had to be checked when forced across the heels of MANIFEST.



RACE 4 – TWEED COAST SAFE-T-RAIL CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

RACE 5 – PARKWOOD TAVERN CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1300 METRES

Trainer G. Roberts was fined the sum of $200.00 for failing to scratch PACKSYND by the prescribed time.

TABASCO GIRL was hampered on jumping away between O’SAVANA and SECOVER which shifted out.



RACE 6 – ARUNDEL TAVERN CLASS 5 HANDICAP – 1800 METRES

Stewards questioned M. PAGET regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of COUNTERSHOT. M. PAGET could offer no excuses apart from the gelding failed to run on as expected.

Stewards questioned Trainer J. Wright regarding the improved performance of PROUD MOMENTS today. Mrs Wright stated that following a lengthy spell the horse today was having its fourth start this campaign.



RACE 7 – BJD HOTELS CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 900 METRES

TYKE MY SON and ACE CLUB were slow to begin.

Approaching the 500 metres CELESTIAL’S GOLD which improved up onto the heels of MORINGA BLUE had to be checked.

BROCARD lost its near fore plate in running.





RACE 8 – JIM BEAM CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Near the 1100 metres BOOM SOUND had to be steadied to avoid the heels of GLENNAL which shifted in.

GLENNAL was obliged to race three wide in the early and middle stages.






EIGHT WINNERS PLUS SHARLAD, NOBLE EFFORT AND CLASSIC VERDICT WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
