STEWARDS’ MR R SANDERS (CHAIRMAN), MR J GRAHAM, MR J HAIGH,
PANEL: MR C MCLUNE AND MR M TUTT (CADET)
RACE 1 – JIM BEAM MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1800 METRES
NOBLE MOSES and HERE BE DRAGONS made contact on jumping away.
Approaching the 1300 metres NOBLE MOSES shifted out abruptly inconveniencing TATHRA ROAD.
CENTRAL BANKER was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
Stewards questioned G. PALMER regarding the performance of KISS THE FROG. G. PALMER was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance of the gelding today.
RACE 2 – MCLAUGHLINS COMMERCIAL LAWYERS MAIDEN HANDICAP – 900 METRES
The start of this race was delayed when DUST CHILD became fractious in the barriers. The filly was subsequently a late withdrawal at 1.39 p.m. on Veterinary advice. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on DUST CHILD were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 8 cents in the dollar for a win and place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer P. Wheatley was advised that the filly must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
FORCIBLY which broke through the barriers was quickly reigned in by its rider P. CUDDIHY. A Veterinary examination passed the filly fit to start.
The connections of CRYSTAL VISION which was hard to load were advised that a warning would be placed on the filly.
MILLCAY stood as the gates opened and lost considerable ground. Trainer P. Brown will be advised that a further barrier certificate will be required prior to the filly’s next start.
WIND ROLLER was slow to begin.
FORCIBLY raced greenly over the concluding stages.
RACE 3 – MCLAUGHLINS LITIGATION CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 900 METRES
As M. GRAY was overweight Stewards permitted J. POLLARD to be substituted as the rider of ACE CAN DO. M. GRAY was fined the sum of $100.00.
RAGING RULA was slow to begin.
Shortly after straightening JED ENOCH was inconvenienced between EASY DREAM and LORD RUTHERFORD both of which shifted ground.
RACE 4 – MCLAUGHLINS PERSONAL INJURIES CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 2200 METRES
NOBLE DISTINCTION was a late withdrawal at 2.55 p.m. acting on Veterinary advice. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on NOBLE DISTINCTION were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 6 cents in the dollar for a win and 7 cents for a place on the face value of the ticket.
Stewards considered an objection lodged by L. DEGUARA the rider of ZINA ZULU which finished third against CLUTCH CARGO being declared second on the grounds of alleged interference rounding the home turn. After taking evidence and viewing the official film, Stewards were of the opinion that the degree of interference suffered by ZINA ZULU did not exceed the margin between the two horses at the finish and therefore the objection was dismissed. C. SMALL was advised to exercise more care in future when shifting ground.
Near the 1900 metres ZINA ZULU had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CLUTCH CARGO which shifted in momentarily. C. SMALL (CLUTCH CARGO) was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Shortly after straightening CLUTCH CARGO shifted out and made contact with GAVEL.
LUSKIN WARRIOR was forced to race wide in the early stages.
RACE 5 – MCLAUGHLINS PROPERTY LAW MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1300 METRES
The connections of MON MEKKI which was fractious in the barriers were advised that a warning was placed on that filly.
Shortly after the start SHERIFF WOODY was hampered between SANZASHI and DARK SEA both of which shifted ground.
After passing the 400 metres NEAT TRY and OOTHAPENDRAGON made contact.
Near the 200 metres NEAT TRY was inconvenienced between OOTHAPENDRAGON and SANZASHI which shifted out slightly.
SANZASHI continued to shift out over the concluding stages making contact with OOTHAPENDRAGON on a number of occasions.
RACE 6 – MCLAUGHLINS INSOLVENCY CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES
Approaching the 800 metres KAVORKA had to be steadied off the heels of JANADI.
JANADI shifted out abruptly over the concluding stages forcing its rider J. POLLARD to stop riding. WHIZCAT which was following was also hampered.
ORIENTAL PRINCESS was forced to race wide throughout.
RACE 7 – MCLAUGHLINS SOLICITORS CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES
ENTITY jumped out at the start making contact with ARKI BLU.
A short distance later CIPOLLINI shifted out making contact with ENTITY.
Shortly after entering the straight ENTITY shifted out and made contact with NATIVE WELLS.
RACE 8 – MCLAUGHLINS LAWYERS CLASS 5 HANDICAP – 1800 METRES
COUNTERSHOT jumped out at the start severely crowding LUST FOR POWER, NEW SHOES and MAMANUCA.
EIGHT WINNERS PLUS MISS BOUNTIFUL, EASY DREAM, ENTITY AND CLASSIC VERDICT WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
