GENERAL:

Trainer D BOUGOURE was fined the sum of $50 for nominating ULTIMATUM (4 years old) in a 3 years old maiden, an event for which the horse was ineligible.

RACE 1 – COMMERCE QUEENSLAND MAIDEN HANDICAP – 900 METRES

BONDARA was slow to begin.

CAN’T TACKLE jumped in at the start and hampered FLAME.

A short distance after the start JEWEL’S EMBRACE commenced to race fiercely and approaching the 600 metres had to be checked when racing between TOORACOO and CONGRESSIONAL which shifted in when racing greenly. BONDARA which was following was obliged to shift out to avoid the heels of JEWEL’S EMBRACE.

EXPECT A MIRACLE hung out throughout the event.

App. A BEST (BETTER DAYS) accidentally dropped his whip at the 300 metres.

RACE 2 – REGENT TAXIS MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1,200 METRES

BUSTER BALLOON was slow to begin.

PEDRO’S GIRL jumped out at the start and hampered GIDGEE GOLD.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DRY MARTINI, N JOLLY said that he had settled the mare back in the field as instructed but at no stage did his mount travel comfortably or go forward when placed under pressure. Trainer R ARMSTRONG was at a loss to explain today’s performance as the mare had worked well during the week and he had expected a more forward showing. These explanations were noted. A post race veterinary examination of DRY MARTINI revealed the mare to be showing signs of coming into season.

A post race veterinary examination of BUSTER BALLOON revealed the filly to be shin sore in both fore legs.

RACE 3 – WORKFORCE ONE (THREE-YEARS-OLD) MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1,400 METRES

MISS DISTINCTION which was fractious before the start was removed from the barriers, subjected to a veterinary examination and passed fit to start.

THE CHANGELING was slow to begin.

Approaching the first turn MR. WARBUCKS lost ground when racing ungenerously between OUT CRUISING and SUPER IMPRINT.

N JOLLY was stood down by the club’s Doctor following the running of Race 3. The following replacements were approved:-

Race 5 IMPOSING SAL A ABRAHAMS
Race 6 OUR LAA DEE DA A ABRAHAMS
Race 7 SHADEAL PRINCE A ERHART

D’ARGENT FILLE was unable to obtain clear running rounding the home turn until inside the 300 metres.

RACE 5 – ALCHEMY (CLASS 3) HANDICAP – 1,400 METRES

Approaching the first turn KIMJED was obliged to shift out to avoid the heels of MANDORA when the pace slackened.

MAIZIERE was obliged to race wide in the middle stages.

S SHIELD (KIMJED) was fined the sum of $50 for returning to scale in excess of ½ kg over his allotted weight.

RACE 6 – HINTERLAND AIR CONDITIONING (CLASS 2) HANDICAP – 900 METRES

ANOTHER SYN reared as the gates opened.

BECKY’S TABOO was slow to begin.

When questioned regarding the performance of MISS MARTINDALE, App. C PROSSER stated that although forced to race wide throughout the event her mount had travelled comfortably up to the home turn but when placed under pressure failed to respond to her riding in the straight. A post race veterinary examination of MISS MARTINDALE revealed no obvious abnormalities and the filly was sent to be swabbed.

RACE 7 – TRENDWEST SOUTH PACIFIC (COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES) (CLASS 1) HANDICAP – 1,400 METRES

Rounding the first turn SUNGIFT which was racing fiercely blundered after striking the heels of BEAU REEF.

BIOKOVO was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.

Rounding the home turn SHADEAL PRINCE shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so momentarily hampered BEAU REEF.

For some distance approaching the 250 metres SUNGIFT was disappointed for a run to the inside of SHADEAL PRINCE. SUNGIFT was then unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.

BILLY’S BROTHER was held up for clear running in the straight.

Trainer K NIPPERESS was fined the sum of $25 for failing to present BOOEYHACKER with a tongue tie.

RACE 8 – OZKLEEN ASIA PACIFIC (CLASS 5) HANDICAP – 1,800 METRES

FAR BEYOND and SEA OF DARKNESS were slow to begin.

Inside the 300 metres COCKY CRUISER commenced to lay in under pressure and inside the final 50 metres shifted in abruptly. HOT SCORPION which was racing to the inside shifted in and away from COCKY CRUISER which resulted in KIMBLE being initially crowded for room and then having to be checked close to the finish line. K BELL (HOT SCORPION) was reprimanded and advised to stop riding and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.

EIGHT WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED ALONG WITH MISS MARTINDALE.
