PANEL: MR M TUTT AND MR S HURFORD (CADET)
RACE 1 – MARRIOTT SURFERS PARADISE RESORT MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1600 METRES
QUEEN OF VIOLINS, BOUNTINGLY and KISS THE FROG were tightened for room at the start between NO TRESPASSING and DEL BOY both of which jumped away awkwardly.
Rounding the first turn BOUNTINGLY had to be steadied off the heels of NO TRESPASSING.
Jockey A. KENNEDY the rider of DEL BOY accidentally dropped his whip at the 500 metres.
TAG AND RELEASE was obliged to race wide throughout.
RACE 2 – GOLD COAST MEDICAL IMAGING THREE YEAR OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1205 METRES
RATED ARR was slow to begin.
DARK FROST jumped in at the start and hampered STRADIVARI.
Approaching the 1150 metres EAGER BRIDE shifted out abruptly which resulted in DARK FROST having to be steadied off that runner’s heels.
A Veterinary examination of PRINCE OF DENMARK revealed the colt to be shin sore.
Following this event A. ABRAHAMS was suffering from a back muscle injury and was subsequently stood down by an Ambulance official . The following replacements were subsequently made:-
Race 5 PRINCE OF ANGELS M. BENNETT
Race 8 SEASIDE SUCCESS M. CARSON
RACE 3 – MIKE MCCABE REAL ESTATE TWO YEAR OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1110 METRES
Trainer G. STEWART was fined the sum of $50.00 for late notification of rider for WITH THANKS.
Jockey A. KENNEDY was dislodged after SANDY STAR became fractious in the enclosure and reared up. A. KENNEDY was examined by an Ambulance official and passed fit to fulfil his engagement in this event.
WITH THANKS jumped out at the start and tightened STYLISH DUCHESS onto HADJIEL.
A short distance after the start WITH THANKS continued to shift out resulting in STYLISH DUCHESS having to check off that runner’s heels.
Rounding the first turn WITH THANKS hung out and as a result tightened HADJIEL onto CALAIS BOUND.
CRASSUS when racing ungenerously commenced to lose ground inside the 800 metres and continued to lose momentum in the middle stages of the race and failed to run on in the straight. A postrace Veterinary examination revealed the colt to have sustained a speedy cut to the near hind cannon. Trainer L. Kelly was advised that he must barrier trial CRASSUS prior to its next race start.
Following this event the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that SANDY STAR had sustained a laceration to the near fore fetlock and WITH THANKS also sustained a laceration to the near fore pastern.
Trainer R. Sutton was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for FORTUNE’S FRIEND after that filly proved difficult to load and was also slow to begin.
RACE 4 – WWW.AUSSIE-RACING-SERVICES.COM FILLIES & MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1110 METRES
When M. SMITH-LESTER arrived on course he requested to be examined by an Ambulance official as he was suffering flu symptoms. As M. SMITH-LESTER was required to take fluids he was unable to ride at the allotted weight in this event and was subsequently replaced by K. BELL as the rider of MAMA SAL. The Ambulance official cleared M. SMITH-LESTER to ride in Race 5 but subsequent to this race was stood down for the remainder of the program and the following replacements were made:-
Race 7 VANILLA BEAN M. BENNETT
Race 8 GEE EYE JANE D. CRAVEN
MAMA SAL was slow to begin.
DARK DESIRE shifted in at the start and crowded RORY’S UNDERCOVER onto CITI BLAZE.
RIGHTO jumped away awkwardly and lost ground at the start.
CHOP CHOP raced ungenerously in the early stages.
APP. S. MCLEAN pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that approaching the 800 metres he permitted his mount GRACE’S ROSES to shift in when insufficiently clear resulting in DEPUTY LADY striking that runner’s heels and blundering. APP. S. MCLEAN’S licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) meetings to commence midnight 22nd May, 2002 and to expire midnight 2nd June, 2002.
In this incident GRACE’S ROSES then shifted out which resulted in CHOP CHOP having to be steadied to avoid that runner’s heels. CHOP CHOP was obliged to race wide in the middle stages.
RACE 5 – KINGSMORE RESIDENTIAL ESTATE CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1110 METRES
As APP. H. O’HARA was indisposed due to illness she was replaced as the rider of MAKE NO NOISE by P. HAMMERSLEY.
RORY’S UNDERCOVER suffered a bleeding attack during the event. The gelding will incur a mandatory three(3) month ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from RORY’S UNDERCOVER.
RORY’S UNDERCOVER lost its near fore plate in running.
RACE 6 – CAMELOT CAFÉ CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 2015 METRES
MR. INSURANCE which sustained an injury to the near hind leg in the barriers was declared at late scratching at 3.36 p.m. on Veterinary advice. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on MR. INSURANCE were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 9 cents in the dollar for a win and 10 cents in the dollar for a place on the face value of the ticket.
Rounding the first turn SILENT AUCTION shifted out and tightened PROSPECTOR KING onto BOLD CENTAUR.
KANANGA raced wide in the early stages of the event.
Inside the 150 metres KANANGA shifted in under pressure and momentarily hampered COUNTER AGENT.
Inside the 50 metres SUPER IMPRINT shifted out under pressure and momentarily crowded BOLD CENTAUR.
RACE 7 – MIKE MCCABE REAL ESTATE CLASS 6 HANDICAP - 1600 METRES
VANILLA BEAN jumped out at the start and bumped TUNISIA.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GOLD DREDGE APP. B. ALBUINO stated that the gelding travelled comfortably off the speed in the early and middle stages but failed to respond when ridden along inside the 600 metres. A postrace Veterinary examination revealed GOLD DREDGE to be showing signs of respiratory distress and a swab sample was taken.
TUNISIA which raced wide throughout the event and then commenced to compound inside the 600 metres and tailed the field in the straight was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and found to be suffering from a respiratory problem. Trainer D. Graham was advised that he must barrier trial the mare to the Stewards’ satisfaction in addition to undergoing a Veterinary examination prior to its next race start.
RACE 8 – WWW.AUSSIE-RACING-SERVICES.COM CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1110 METRES
LENNY jumped out at the start and crowded EL THAM onto DEVIL.
Leaving the 500 metres JUST FAITH shifted out and momentarily tightened JED ENOCH onto MR. LEVI.
CAPANNELLE ran wide after rounding the first turn.
APP. D. GAY was fined the sum of $100.00 for returning to scale in excess of ½ kilo over his allotted weight.
CAPANNELLE lost its off fore plate in running.
GENERAL
Licensing Supervisor Mr R O’Toole reported to Stewards that Mr Milton Doyle, a person known to him as being warned off, was in attendance at today’s meeting and was asked officially to leave the course.
EIGHT WINNERS PLUS RORY’S UNDERCOVER, GOLD DREDGE AND RIP WISKER WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
