GOLD COAST TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SAT. 19.10.2002

WEATHER - FINE TRACK – GOOD

RAIL – OUT 4M 1400 – 400; OUT 3M REMAINDER

GENERAL:


RACE 1: ON TRACK MELBOURNE CUP H’CAP (THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN)- 1800M.

As D Craven was indisposed through illness, stewards permitted A Baker to be replaced as the rider of NOREBO LASS.

Trainer K Schweida was fined $50 for late notification of rider for KALAGIN.

Shortly after entering the straight NUZZLE shifted out to obtain clear running and brushed DANTIBES’ INFERNO.

Inside the final 200m DANTIBES’ INFERNO was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure.

RACE 2: HONDA INDY 300 H’CAP (MAIDEN) - 900M.

BALALA which reared in the saddling enclosure was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

BALALA jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start ULTRA SWING was crowded between AITANGI and KHITOBAI both of which jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 700m KHITOBAI blundered.

PROETTE commenced to hang out rounding the home turn and inside the 300m shifted out which resulted in AITANGI having to be momentarily steadied to avoid that runner’s heels.

RACE 3: DISTRIBUTION H’CAP (CLASS 2) - 900M.

DARK FROST jumped in at the start and crowded ROAR TALENT on to PEDAL HAPPY.

ROAR TALENT was inclined to race ungenerously in the early and middle stages and shortly after entering the straight made contact with STARATAN when disappointed for a run between that runner and PEDAL HAPPY.

Following this event M BENNETT was stood down by the club’s Doctor due to illness and the following riding replacements were approved:

Race 7 CANADIAN CELEST M Traecey
Race 8 SPENBAR DANCER A Kennedy

RACE 4: JOEWALSH & ASSOCIATES PLATE (MAIDEN) - 1400M.

BOUNTINGLY was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

Leaving the 800m JEWEL TIME was tightened for room between WORKING CLASS MAN which shifted out and HERO WORSHIP which was taken in slightly by BOUNTINGLY.

Approaching the 700m SEAWAY LAD shifted out and brushed CHOCOLATE TART. HERO WORSHIP which was following had to be steadied off that runner’s heels.

RACE 5: TREACHER & ASSOCIATES H’CAP (CLASS 5) - 1400M.

ICE PATROL was slow to begin.

A post race veterinary examination of HE’S A TREASURE failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.

RACE 6: RAY WHITE SURFERS PARADISE H'CAP (CLASS 2) - 2200M.

As N Day was to be overweight, A Baker was replaced as the rider of COERCED. N Day was fined $50.

Inside the 150m SPLIT THE WIND had to momentarily steady off the heels of AQUA LEONE which shifted in under pressure.

RACE 7: PROSPERITY H'CAP (CLASS 3) - 1200M.

MOSES was slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.

SKIMBLESHANKS jumped in at the start and crowded PATRICIA CATHERINE on to DENINGS LANE.

CANADIAN CELEST suffered a bleeding attack during the event. The mare will incur a mandatory three months ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from CANADIAN CELEST.

RACE 8: VON BIBRA HONDA H'CAP (CLASS 1) - 1200M.

As D Hayse had accepted two engagements in this race, he was subsequently replaced on MURPHY THE SURFIE by P Cuddihy. D Hayse was fined the sum of $50.

GOLDIE’S SON which injured its near hind leg in the race day stalls, was declared a late scratching on vet’s advice at 4:30 pm.

Trainer D KELLY was fined the sum of $50 for failing to register a lease for MURIELLA.

As App. M Spriggs only picked up the engagement on RAISE THE LIMIT this morning, stewards gave him permission to only claim 2½kg of his 3kg claim.

MAJESTIC THRILL dislodged its rider, A Abrahams, in the preliminary. Both horse and rider were passed fit to start.

HUMAN NATURE blundered at the start.

ALL CRAFTY was slow to begin.

HUMAN NATURE was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

Leaving the 800m HARRY’S MATE commenced to race fiercely when being restrained off the heels of MAJESTIC THRILL and as a result shifted out tightening KWILTIME on to RAISE THE LIMIT. HARRY’S MATE continued to race fiercely and rounding the home turn shifted out around the heels of I USED TO DREAM resulting in KWILTIME being taken out on to RAISE THE LIMIT which had to be checked after making heavy contact with the hind quarters of REPOSSESSION.


ALL WINNERS, HE’S A TREASURE AND CANADIAN CELEST WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
