GENERAL:
RACE 1: DRINK NIGHTCLUB H’CAP - 1800 M.
As J. Pollard was indisposed due to injury Stewards permitted the following rider replacements:-
Race 1 PACKSYND M. Williamson
Race 2 COOL SUCCESS M. Gray
Race 3 POSH MAGIC M. Williamson
Race 6 BOLD AND BRASH M. Gray
Race 7 EBONY CLAIRE A. Kennedy
TOP PLUME was slow to begin.
RACE 2: AUTO LEADERS H’CAP - 1300 M.
As S. CAMPTON was indisposed due to illness Stewards permitted S. Shield to be substituted as the rider of NORTHERN ALPS.
TIMESTO jumped out at the start and hampered NORTHERN ALPS.
TRIM THE HUMOUR after jumping away slowly refused to race and as a result was retired from the event by its rider. A postrace Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be sore in the near knee. Trainer L. Birchley’s representative was advised that TRIM THE HUMOUR must compete in an official barrier trial and the Stewards must be presented with a Veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
Approaching the first turn POWER OF BLU commenced to race greenly and approaching the 800 metres had to be checked after shifting in of its own accord and striking the running rail.
RACE 3: ABSOLUTE GATE & FENCE DESIGNERS H’CAP – 1300 M.
SHIENDLIN was slow to begin.
GABIETTE knuckled over at the start.
Approaching the first turn ZAMAALA ROSE was obliged to steady off the heels of MANDARAS which shifted in.
Rounding the first turn POSH MAGIC when racing greenly shifted out forcing SHIENDLIN wider on the track.
RACE 4: NTG NATIONAL TELECOMS HANDICAP H’CAP – 1200 M.
DARK FROST was crowded at the start between ROYAL OPERA and LECLERC which jumped in.
Leaving the 550 metres LECLERC became unbalanced after making contact with SEMAGIC.
RACE 5: AB TREK FOR KIDS H’CAP – 900 M.
As D. Wheeler was to be overweight he was replaced as the rider of STARGAZER BEAUTY by App. B. Dieckmann. App. D. Wheeler was fined the sum of $100.00
CHITTER CHATTER knuckled over at the start.
RACE 6: BORAL CONCRETE H'CAP – 2400 M.
SILVANUS was declared a late scratching at 11 .30 a.m. after Trainer L. Madden contacted Stewards and advised that the mare was sore. Mr Madden was advised that he must present a Veterinary Certificate for SILVANUS.
NOREBO LASS was slow to begin.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of THE NAME’S BOND. App. S. McLean stated that the gelding travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages but when placed under pressure inside the 600 metres failed to respond to his riding. Trainer A. Bailey’s representative could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A postrace Veterinary examination of THE NAME’S BOND failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 7: PRIME TELEVISION H'CAP – 900 M.
Trainer L. Basterfield was fined the sum of $50.00 for failing to enact a transfer of ownership for RUSTIKOV.
Shortly after entering the straight DITTYDOO was momentarily held up behind the heels of ALL THAT GLITTER.
RACE 8: RUBELLI DESIGN H'CAP – 1200 M.
CRAIGLEA HOPE knuckled over at the start.
A. Abrahams the rider of LADY LUNCHTYME pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 800 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear resulting in CRAIGLEA HOPE having to check off that runner’s heel. A. Abrahams was suspended for a period of six(6) meetings to commence midnight 10 November, 2002 and to expire midnight 20 November, 2002. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account A. Abrahams good race riding record.
Leaving the 800 metres UNION SQUARE had to be steadied off the heels of LADY LUNCHTYME which shifted in. A. Abrahams was reprimanded over this incident.
Approaching the 300 metres RISING TOWER shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with BR’ISLAND BOY.
Over the concluding stages BR’ISLAND BOY shifted in under pressure and momentarily hampered MOBY.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
