REMAINDER TRUE POSITION
GENERAL
Trainer Mr A. Bailey through his stable representative was fined the sum of $50.00 for nominating SEROE COLORADO in Race 8, an event for which the horse was ineligible.
As M. Bennett was indisposed through injury the following rider replacements were approved:-

Race 2 SIRCOLO C. Whiteley
Race 4 BUZZER A. Pattillo
Race 7 MAYBACH D. Craven
Race 8 REPOSSESSION A. Pattillo
Race 9 MAKES ME DIZZY A. Kennedy
RACE 1: CARLTON DRAUGHT GOLDMARKET - WEDNESDAY 20 AUGUST 2Y0 MAIDEN H'CAP - 1200 M.
CLEVER ACT and POWER A PLENTY came together at the start.
MR RELIC jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start ESSENTIALLY had to be checked off the heels of COOPER KING which was taken out by SUPAROO and SPECIAL DEGREE which shifted in abruptly.
QUEEN CLEO raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
Rounding the first turn BUNGER commenced to race ungenerously when being restrained off the heels of SUPAROO.
CLEVER ACT and SUN NEVER SETS raced wide throughout the event.
Over the concluding stages PRINCE CARTIER was inclined to race greenly when placed under pressure.
RACE 2: MIAMI TAVERN ON THE BEACH H'CAP - 1200 M.
On return to scale a protest was lodged by C. Reith, the rider of 4th placegetter OUR DAZZLER, against NEDIYM'S IMAGE (D. Schmitt) being declared 3rd alleging interference in the straight. It was established that at approximately 300 metres NEDIYM'S IMAGE angled to the outside of the heels of THRONE OF GOLD and in doing so made heavy contact with OUR DAZZLER and unbalanced that runner. Stewards were satisfied that the interference suffered warranted a reversal of placings and the protest was upheld. At a subsequent inquiry D. Schmitt was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
THEATRE ROSE, PRINCE LOTTO and SIRCOLO were all slow to begin.
Over the concluding stages OUR DAZZLER laid in under pressure and on two(2) occasions made contact with NEDIYM'S IMAGE.
When questioned regarding the performance of THEATRE ROSE. S. Thurlow stated that the filly failed to handle the heavy track conditions and did not respond to being urged along at any stage of the event. A postrace veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
D. Schmitt was fined the sum of $50.00 for returning to scale in excess of 1/2 kilo over his allotted weight.
RACE 3: LAFARGE PLASTAMASTER GOLD COAST H'CAP - 1800 M.
RIVER AVON was slow to begin.
Approaching the first turn UP UP AND AWAY had to be checked off the heels off the heels of KINGS LOOT which shifted in after making contact with LET'S GO SGOR. Stewards were satisfied that no rider was at fault in this incident.
UP UP AND AWAY then commenced to hang out and approaching the 1300 metres had to be steadied after racing up onto the heels of LET'S GO SGOR.
POTENTIATE was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.
Approaching the 900 metres TREBOR baulked and lost ground when attempting to take a narrow run to the inside of FLYING DEVIL.
Rounding the home turn A. Best (KINGS LOOT) when passing the whip from his right hand momentarily lost control of his mount which resulted in it shifting out making heavy contact with RIVER AVON. A. Best was advised to exercise more care when attempting this maneouvre.
RACE 4: QUEENSLAND ROAD SURFACES MAIDEN PLATE - 1400 M.
ROAD TO VICTORY and MONKEY PUZZLE were crowded for room at the start between TEXAS REVENGE and AQUA D'OR which jumped outwards.
Shortly after the start ANGEL OF PEACE shifted in and crowded THE BEAT GOES ON onto the hind quarters of IRISH PUNT.
BARBARIAN was obliged to race wide throughout the event.
IRISH PUNT lost its near hind plate in running.
RACE 5: BBK PLUMPING CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1000 M.
KHITOBAI and ANOTHER JAZZY were tightened for room at the start between HIALEAH STAR and OPAL LASS both of which jumped awkwardly.
Rounding the home turn App. S. McLean (ADMIRAL ROBINSON) accidentally dropped his whip.
RACE 6: ROD SALAN HOMES PTY LTD H'CAP - 1300 M.
SISTER ACE which refused to jump and compete in this event was deemed to be a runner by stewards. Trainer S. Batten's representative was advised that the mare must compete in a series of at least two(2) barrier trials before racing again.
MISS CLARET jumped in at the start and made contact with ALTERED which in turn shifted in and brushed CALAIS BOUND.
FAIRY DUST was obliged to race wide throughout the event.
Stewards questioned C. Reith and trainer A. Bailey's representative Mrs S. Thompson regarding handling of CALAIS BOUND. Mrs Thompson stated that the filly usually races on the speed but in their opinion failed to finish off in her races. She further explained that as this was CALAIS BOUND'S first run back from a spell and bearing in mind the heavy track rating she had instructed C. Reith to ride the filly quietly in the early stages and work into the race from the 600 metres. C. Reith rode the filly to these instructions. Mrs Thompson further added that she was impressed by the way the filly had finished the race off. These explanations were noted. Stewards advised Mrs Thompson of the stable's obligations to advise stewards of any change in riding instructions which stewards deemed was the case today.
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to slow.
RACE 7: MIAMI TAVERN SOCIAL GOLF CLUB CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1800 M.
Trainer B. Jenkins was fined the sum of $50.00 for late notification of rider for EARL.
As S. Campton was overweight he was substituted as the rider of MAYBACH by D. Craven. S. Campton was fined the sum of $50.00.
PROTECTED SPECIES and REMY LANE both jumped away awkwardly.
Approaching the 900 metres MUKQUIN had to be steadied off the heels of BE NICE which shifted in.
Inside the 600 metres TRAIT commenced to compound and rounding the home turn was pulled up by its rider A. Pattillo. A postrace veterinary examination revealed TRAIT to be suffering from a heart arrhythmia. Trainer B. Miller's representative was advised that the horse must barrier trial and undergo an ECG examination prior to racing again.
Inside the 200 metres N. Day (BANKERS MAGIC) accidentally dropped his whip.
RACE 8: QUEENSLAND ROAD SURFACES COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1300 M.
Trainer P. Moncrieff through his stable representative was fined the sum of $50.00 for late notification of rider for FRAME WORK.
PHILLY JOE JOE jumped in at the start and tightened STARS WILL DANCE onto SCOTTISH REAVER.
A short distance after the start DAINTREE DAN had to be steadied off the heels of BILLY'S BROTHER which shifted out.
For some distance inside the 500 metres STARS WILL DANCE was unable to improve behind the heels of the tiring MCGIRK.
RACE 9: CARLTON DRAUGHT GOLDMARKET- WEDNESDAY 20 AUGUST CLASS 6 H'CAP - 1800 M.
Trainer D. Sutton was fined the sum of $50.00 for late notification of rider of HYSTERICAL BOSS.
GO SANDY was slow to begin.
SILVER GHOST and MAKES ME DIZZY were obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.
GO SANDY suffered a bleeding attack in the event. Trainer L. Gray was advised that GO SANDY will incur the mandatory three(3) month ban from racing.
ALL WINNERS PLUS GO SANDY WERE SWABBED.
