GENERAL

From Gold Coast Trackwork Tuesday 8 July, 2003

Trackwork rider Mr G Williams was fined the sum of $50.00 for a breach of LR12A in that he was smoking whilst mounted on a horse.


RACE 1: FRIDAY RACING 25 JULY H'CAP - 1200 M.

PRINCE LOTTO dislodged its off hind plate in the saddling enclosure. As this plate could not be reattached stewards allowed PRINCE LOTTO to race without hind plates.

The start of this race was delayed when VULCAN NYMPH and TEMPLE JACK both proved difficult to load. Trainers D. Heinemann and M. Flanigan were advised that a warning would be placed on their respective horses in regard to barrier manners.

Rounding the first turn TEMPLE JACK which commenced to race ungenerously shifted out abruptly and as a result became unbalanced when steadied across the heels of SPICING.

SPICING raced wide in the middle stages.

VULCAN NYMPH also raced wide throughout the event when inclined to hang out.


RACE 2: GOLD COAST SURF CLUBS H'CAP - 1400 M.

HELEN'S FORTUNE and SALENTINO both jumped away awkwardly resulting in RED HARBOUR having to be checked.

A short distance after the start SALENTINO and RED HARBOUR both commenced to race fiercely.

When the pace slackened rounding the first turn RED HARBOUR shifted out to avoid the heels of SALENTINO. HELEN'S FORTUNE which was following was also hampered as a consequence.

From rounding the home turn until inside the 200 metres ROMAN PRINCESS and MUCH POWER were held up for clear running.

MANDARAS lost its near fore plate in running.

D. Green the rider of VOYEUR was fined the sum of $50.00 for returning to scale in excess of 1/2 kilo over his allotted weight.

C. Whiteley the rider of the fourth placegetter ARID MISS was reminded of his obligations to fully ride his mounts out to the end of the race.


RACE 3: SOUTHPORT WORKERS COMMUNITY CLUB H'CAP - 1000 M.

CAROLINA'S BOY jumped in at the start and tightened VIVENDI onto GENERAL EAGLE.

VIVENDI suffered a bleeding attack in the event. The colt will incur a mandatory three(3) month ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from VIVENDI.

M. Usher the rider of VIVENDI was fined the sum of $100.00 for using an excessive amount of whip on the colt when it was out of contention and showing no resoponse. In assessing penalty stewarts took into account that M. Usher was not aware that VIVENDI had suffered a bleeding attack when using the whip in the straight.

M. Spriggs the rider of CAROLINA'S BOY was reminded of his obligations to fully test his mounts out to the end of the race.



RACE 4: BURLEIGH BEARS LEAGUES CLUB CLASS 6 H'CAP - 1000 M.

BRANAHDAN threw its head in the air as the gates opened and lost ground as a result. BRANAHDAN was then slow into galloping action in the early stages of the race.

TURF TIGER returned to the enclosure with a twisted near fore plate. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering soreness in the near fore leg.


RACE 5: CMA BRISBANE ZONE H'CAP - 1400 M.

CORAL SUNDAY jumped away awkwardly.

LISTEN PAL and STORM RAIN made heavy contact at the start.

Shortly after the start KING CROWNIE had to steady off the heels of PHIBBER MCGEE which shifted in.

Leaving the 1000 metres PHIBBER MCGEE commenced to race fiercely when being restrained off the heels of LISTEN PAL.

Approaching the 600 metres CORAL SUNDAY (G. Palmer) shifted in and crowded LISTEN PAL onto IRIS KIAP. G. Palmer was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.


RACE 6: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES H'CAP - 1200 M.

FELIX THE MAN blundered as the gates opened.


RACE 7: CMA GOLD COAST ZONE H'CAP - 1000 M.

Approaching the 950 metres SILMONT, MISS KRAMER and IDEAL SIN were all tightened for room between RISKAYRISK and LA LA LAND which shifted in and away from WINNER'S CHOICE.

Rounding the first turn LA LA LAND again shifted in and away from WINNER'S CHOICE which resulted in IDEAL SIN having to be steadied to avoid that runner's heels.


RACE 8: NERANG RSL CLUB CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1800 M.

Trainer M. Brosnan was fined the sum of $50.00 for lodging an incorrect gear change for WAITAWHERO GOLD.

As L. Cook was indisposed through injury stewards permitted M. Traecey to be substituted as the rider of MOONLIT SEA.

DASHING WILLIE was slow to begin.

Approaching the 300 metres PROTECTED SPECIES was held up for clear running.

Approaching the 200 metres ROAD TO SEA was held up for clear running.



ALL WINNERS PLUS VIVENDI WERE SWABBED.
