STEWARDS REPORT GOLD COAST TURF CLUB SATURDAY 26 JULY, 2003

WEATHER -FINE TRACK - GOOD

RACE 1: BOOK NOW FOR CARLTON DRAUGHT GOLDMARKET H'CAP - 900 M.

At the start MIJA jumped awkwardly and then had to be checked off the heels of GO JO which jumped outwards.

MIGHTY SURVIVOR jumped out at the start and crowded CAFE FAITOLE onto CABARITA COUNTY.

NO TAXES knuckled over at the start.

Approaching the 600 metres MENSA PRINCE was inclined to lay in.

Inside the final 100 metres MIGHTY SURVIVOR had to be restrained and was held up when unable to obtain clear running behind the heels of NO TAXES.


RACE 2: NORCO PAULS MILK H'CAP - 1400 M.

ASFLORA reared at the start and lost ground as a result.

Approaching the 1300 metres BONNE PAL had to steady off the heels of CHEEKY MONKEY which was taken in momentarily by PEAK FEELING.

Leaving the 1200 metres BONNE PAL had to be restrained off the heels of CHEEKY MONKEY which commenced to race ungenerously.

Leaving the 700 metres FLINDERS FLYER had to momentarily steady off the heels of PEAK FEELING which shifted in.

Rounding the home turn BONNE PAL was held up for clear running.


RACE 3: BECOME A GOLD COAST TURF CLUB MEMBER NOW PLATE - 1700 M.

Trainer Mr V. Heading was fined the sum of $50.00 for failing to declare a rider for MAGIC HAT by the prescribed time.

Rounding the first turn REGAL STATE commenced to overrace when being restrained off the heels of ESTOC.

INITIAL STAR and CLEEV raced wide throughout the event.

Approaching the 400 metres DIXIE KLAIRE was hampered between HELEN'S FORTUNE and REGAL STATE which shifted out when tiring.

A short distance later MAGIC HAT also had to steady to avoid the heels of the tiring REGAL STATE.


RACE 4: PENNY RIDGE RESORT CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1300 M.

Approaching the first turn OUR COGNAC had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KINDILAN (App. L. Fitzsimmons) which shifted in. L. Fitzsimmons was reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground in future.

Shortly after entering the straight GABIETTE was held up for some distance when attempting to obtain a run in restricted room to the inside of OUR BLUEBERRY HILL.

App. D. Ballard the rider of MIGHTY BLAZE was fined the sum of $100.00 for making a celebratory gesture with his whip prior to the winning post.


RACE 5: FAMILY FUN DAY - 6 SEPTEMBER H'CAP - 1400 M.

MIGHTY ICON reared at the start and jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the first turn MISS CLARET commenced to race fiercely when being steadied off the heels of BAZ ATTACK.

HIGH OCTAVE was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

Rounding the home turn MIGHTY ICON became unbalanced after shifting in and brushing the running rail.

After entering the straight until inside the 100 metres MIGHTY ICON was unable to obtain clear running.

Approaching the 200 metres HIGH OCTAVE shifted in under pressure and momentarily tightened BLAZING DANCER onto DON'T WORRY.

Over the concluding stages MIGHTY ICON and MISS CLARET made contact.


RACE 6: VON BIBRA RENAULT H'CAP - 1200 M.

DOCTOR BLANCH which initially proved difficult to load, broke through the front gates and dislodged its rider A. Kennedy. After completing a circuit of the track DOCTOR BLANCH was declared a late scratching at 3.33 p.m. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on DOCTOR BLANCH were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 22 cents in the dollar for a win and 17 cents in the dollar for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer Mr T. Gollan was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the gelding prior to it racing again.

When questioned regarding the performance of ALL ENERGY C. Whiteley stated that after being slow to begin the gelding showed no early pace and raced greenly in the early and middle stages. He further added that leaving the 600 metres ALL ENERGY was reluctant to hold its position when racing to the inside of KULAK and that the gelding continued to race greenly for the remainder of the event.

STARS WILL DANCE was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

After the running of this event A. Kennedy was stood down for the remainder of the day and stewards permitted the following rider replacements:-

Race 7 CEDDIE D. Craven
Race 8 LA LA LAND M. Williamson


RACE 7: BOOK FOR NOW MELBOURNE CUP - 4 NOVEMBER CLASS 4 H'CAP - 2200 M.

MALFUNCTION was declared a late scratching at 10.20 a.m. when the gelding was found to be sore in the near fore leg.

CEDDIE broke through the barriers prior to the start and after being restrained returned to take its place in the field.

LORD MAYOR was slow to begin.

WATCH YOUR STEP jumped away awkwardly.

KAAPBET was obliged to race wide in the early stages.

LORD MAYOR raced wide from the middle stages of the event.

A. Pattillo the rider of MISS BENING was found guilty to a charge of careless riding in that inside the 2000 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear resulting in WATCH YOUR STEP being taken in onto KAAPBET, which in turn was taken in resulting in NEW CHAPTER having to be checked off the heels of LORD MAYOR. A. Pattillo's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) meetings to commence midnight 31 July, 2003 up to and including midnight 10 August, 2003.

A. Pattillo the rider of MISS BENING was fined the sum of $50.00 for returning to scale in excess of 1/2 kilo over his allotted weight.



RACE 8: YALUMBA H'CAP - 1200 M.

WINNER'S CHOICE jumped in at the start and made heavy contact with JANIS JAY.

SUNLADY jumped out at the start and crowded IN TRYST onto TARATA BAY.

Approaching the 900 metres MISS KRAMER was obliged to steady and shifted out to avoid the heels of DARK SEA which in turn shifted out and away from LA LA LAND.

Approaching the first turn TARATA BAY commenced to race fiercely and blundered after striking the heels of WINNER'S CHOICE.

TARATA BAY continued to race fiercely through the middle stages.

Rounding the home turn WINNER'S CHOICE was held up behind the heels of DANISH MAID.

Upon entering the straight WINNER'S CHOICE was inclined to hang in.

DARK SEA raced wide throughout the event.

P. Cuddihy the rider of WINNER'S CHOICE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that inside the 300 metres he angled his mount out to improve when not clear resulting in LA LA LAND being tightened onto MISS KRAMER and as a result having to be checked. P. Cuddihy's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven(7) meetings to commence immediately up to and including midnight 7 August, 2003.



ALL WINNERS PLUS HYMETTA AND ALL ENERGY WERE SWABBED.
