STEWARDS REPORT GOLD COAST TURF CLUB 1 NOVEMBER, 2003

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr J Hackett (Chairman), Mr J Graham, Mr P Gillard, Mr S Hurford
(Cadet) and Mr C Ferguson (Cadet)

WEATHER: FINE TRACK: GOOD

RAIL: OUT 6.5M FROM THE 800M TO THE 400M
OUT 4M FOR THE REMAINDER (ORIGINAL TRACK)

GENERAL

Trainer D. Gollan was fined the sum of $50.00 for nominating SPORTS CLASS in a Class 3
when ineligible.


RACE 1: "MARRY ME BRIDGET" H'CAP - 1100 METRES

RASCALIUS jumped away awkwardly.

MISS ODYSSEY was a little slow to jump.

DANISH STAR brushed the running rail making the home turn.


RACE 2: CITY FINANCE LOANS & CASH SOLUTIONS (WA) MAIDEN
H'CAP - 1110 METRES


MUKTI and MIJA both jumped away awkwardly.

KOONUNGA HILL was inclined to race ungenerously rounding the first turn.

Leaving the 100 metres PHAROS CROWN blundered.

SEA SCRIPT raced wide for the majority of the race.

The connections of TRINITY DANCER were questioned as to the disappointing performance
of the mare which tired badly over the concluding stages and finished at the rear of the field.
Stable representative Mr P Lunson stated that the horse had trialled well recently and the stable
was confident of a forward showing today however, the horse did not reproduce it's trial form
in today's race. D. Craven stated that the horse travelled well until the home turn where it
commenced to race under pressure and he agreed that the performance was disappointing. The
connections were requested to advise of anything that may come to their notice which may have
had some affect on the horse's poor performance. A veterinary examination of TRINITY
DANCER failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.

A veterinary examination of PHAROS CROWN revealed the colt to have sustained a minor
laceration to the tongue.


RACE 3: CITY FINANCE LOANS & CASH SOLUTIONS (VIC) MAIDEN
PLATE - 1600 METRES

QUITE QUICK jumped outwards at the start and hampered LOOK HERE TAY.

ARABIAN GIFT jumped out at the start hampering DARKWOOD LODGE which was
slow to jump.

Approaching the 600 metres PARABOLA had to be eased off the heels of WILLIAM
HENRY.

Near the 200 metres PARABOLA which had been badly held up for clear running had to
shift in abruptly to avoid the heels of WOODIDIERE.

PARABOLA failed to secure clear running at any stage in the straight.

Approaching the 50 metres VITAL SPIRITS which had a tendency to lay in had to be eased
momentarily when LOOK HERE TAY shifted out slightly under pressure.


RACE 4: CITY FINANCE LOANS & CASH SOLUTIONS (SA) CLASS 3
H'CAP - 1100 METRES

NATTIE was slow to jump.

NATTIE lost ground between the 800 and 400 metres. When questioned App. D. Gay
stated that after being slow away NATTIE failed to respond to his riding when it
commenced to lose ground at the 800 metres. Trainer Mr J Wallace's representative Mr M.
Potter reported that the horse is better suited when able to lead and does not race with the
same keeness when racing behind other runners. A veterinary examination of NATTIE failed
to reveal any abnormality. Mr Potter indicated that NATTIE would in all probability be spelled.

Approaching the home turn CELESTIAL CYCLONE was cramped for room by
CHARLIE'S CHANCE which shifted in slightly. A short distance later CELESTIAL
CYCLONE hung out when entering the straight resulting in CHARLIE'S CHANCE
being hampered. In this incident NATTIE had to be eased away from the heels of
CHARLIE'S CHANCE.

Approaching the finishing line RAUTAI'S WARRIOR had a tendency to lay in which
restricted it's rider App. Y. Yamazaki from fully testing his mount.

CHARLIE'S CHANCE compounded badly over the latter stages and finished some distance
from the main body of the field. A veterinary examination subsequent to the race revealed the
horse to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. CHARLIE'S CHANCE will be required to
barrier trial before racing again and will also have to pass an ECG.


RACE 5: CITY FINANCE LOANS & CASH SOLUTIONS (TAS) 3YO MAIDEN
H'CAP - 1200 METRES

A. Abrahams was fined the sum of $100.00 for taking two (2) engagements in this event.

As M. Cullen was indisposed due to transport difficulties Stewards permitted B. Swanton to
be replaced as the rider of TAEPO in this event and A. Abrahams as the rider of MR.
MONEYMAKER in Race 8.

Trainer T. Gollan was fined $25.00 for presenting KUFAGIA without blinkers.

VICTORY ALLEY, ELITE ELVEEN and DONNA FIORI were all tightened between
MEXICALI ROSE and INTADANE as a result of both horses shifting ground at the
start.

Near the 800 metres ELITE ELVEEN improved inside the heels of COME TO THE EDGE
where there was restricted room resulting in ISHIGAKI which had a tendency to hang out
having to be steadied.

MEXICALI ROSE was held up rounding the home turn and unable to improve. Shortly after
straightening when attempting to take a run inside TAEPO MEXICALI ROSE made contact
with INTADANE which shifted in slightly.

Near the 200 metres MEXICALI ROSE shifted in and away from TAEPO forcing KUFAGIA
to be inconvenienced and taken in onto DONNA FIORI which had to be steadied.

Approaching the 200 metres MISS AMERICAN PIE shifted out abruptly.

It was noted that INTADANE was obliged to race wide for the majority of the race and leaving
the 200 metres had to be eased to avoid the heels of the tiring TAEPO.

Near the 50 metres POSSUM was tightened for room by ISHIGAKI which was inclined to
lay in.

D. Craven reported that MEXICALI ROSE which was having its first race in blinkers raced greenly.


RACE 6: CITY FINANCE LOANS & CASH SOLUTIONS (NSW) CLASS 5 H'CAP
- 1200 METRES

App M. Spriggs reported that CAPE TOWN LOUIE had a tendency to
overrace in the middle stages and as a result he was unable to restrain the horse to race with
cover as anticipated. He added that approaching the first turn CAPE TOWN LOUIE shifted
out and brushed BLERICK and again on the home turn the horse rolled out under pressure
taking BLERICK wider on the track. Trainer J. Everson confirmed that the instructions were
if possible, for the horse to be ridden with cover however, once the horse commenced to
overrace he was of the opinion the horse overracing may have had an affect on the horse not
finishing the race off as anticipated. The explanations were noted.

RACE 7: CITY FINANCE LOANS & CASH SOLUTIONS (QLD) H'CAP -
1200 METRES

Near the 1000 metres PARIS TYCOON and CLING 'N' CLANG had to be checked
when racing inside SUN CATCHER and GREY CARAT. At an inquiry into this
incident it was established that whilst D. Green (SUN CATCHER) had initially eased
his mount as GREAY CARAT (D. Craven) crossed to the lead, shortly after being crossed
SUN CATCHER shifted in momentarily resulting in CLING 'N' CLANG and PARIS
TYCOON being checked. Stewards found that whilst they were satisfied that D. Green
was not totally responsible for the incident he was nonetheless reminded to exercise
more care in similar circumstances.

Rounding the home turn CLING 'N' CLANG had to be eased to avoid the heels of
SUN CATCHER.

MILLIBACI was obliged to race wide for the majority of the race.


RACE 8: CITY FINANCE FRANCHISING H'CAP - 1200 METRES

KINBEACHIE which was fractious in the barriers was examined by the Club's veterinary
surgeon and found to be suitable to race. A warning was issued to the connections of
KINBEACHIE regarding it's barrier manners.

LOYAL SUPPORT was tightened between BRIGHTFIRE LAD which shifted in and
MR. MONEYMAKER which shifted out after jumping away awkwardly.

Rounding the first turn ST SPARTICA had to be eased off the heels of VALLUGA
and shifted out making contact with PUSADORO.

Leaving the 200 metres VALLUGA shifted ground under pressure.

Near the finishing line PUSADORO shifted in inconveniencing VALLUGA.
