Race 1: GCTC Racing Easter Saturday/Monday Class 2 H'cap - 1000m
1st - Sheema 2nd - Blueberry Sue 3rd - Perugine Star 4th - Be Magic

PERUGINE STAR jumped in at the start taking HELLO SPECIAL in on to SNIPOVER.

Near the 900m HELLO SPECIAL had to be steadied to avoid the heels of PERUGINE STAR which was inclined to lay in.

Near the 50m PERUGINE STAR which was inclined to lay in had to be steadied off the heels of BLUEBERRY SUE which was inclined to shift out.

App. R Mason reported that PERUGINE STAR was inclined to lay in throughout the event.

Race 2: Surfers Paradise Demons 3YO Maiden H'cap - 1000m
1st - Beemer Blonde 2nd - Look Here Trousers 3rd - Admiral Nelson 4th - Polar Hut

D Stanley was found guilty of a charge under AR120(b) in that he accepted a ride on LITTLE LADY DANCER when found to be overweight. D Stanley was fined the sum of $300.

DINNA LATAR was slow to begin.

LOOK HERE TROUSERS was severely crowded for room on jumping away between WINSOME JOY and MINLANI which shifted out.

Near the 800m STEET MUSIC had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of WINSOME JOY which was taken in slightly by MRS BURRELL.

Approaching the 600m WINSOME JOY commenced to over-race at the heels of ADMIRAL NELSON and shifted in abruptly resulting in STREET MUSIC having to be checked.

MINLANI was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

Approaching the 200m LITTLE LADY DANCER was held up for clear running.

M Gray was found guilty of a charge under AR137(b) in that he failed to ride POLAR HUT out to the end of the race. M Gray was fined the sum of $200.

It was reported that STREET MUSIC lost its near fore plate in running.

A post race veterinary examination of LITTLE LADY DANCER revealed the filly to be sore in the off fore fetlock. Trainer B Mahon was advised that a full veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to LITTLE LADY DANCER racing again.

Race 3: Oyster Cove Resort Fillies and Mares Maiden H'cap - 1400m
1st - Anielski 2nd - Rascalius 3rd - Bonjour Madame 4th - Farzero

BONJOUR MADAME and SARDULA were slow to begin.

BELLE'S ODYSSEY jumped away awkwardly.

After passing the 1300m BELLE'S ODYSSEY had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ANIELSKI which was taken in slightly by RASCALIUS.

Approaching the 1200m FARZERO commenced to over-race and had to be steadied off the heels of ZAFFERANO.

After passing the 800m, when the pace steadied, FARZERO ran up on to the heels of ZAFFERANO and shifted out.

RASCALIUS was forced to race 3 wide throughout the event.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of ZAFFERANO, Jockey N Day stated that the horse travelled well but was under pressure shortly after straightening. A post race veterinary examination of ZAFFERANO failed to reveal any abnormalities.

A post race veterinary examination of ANIELSKI revealed the mare to have sustained a laceration to the inside of the off fore cannon.

It was reported that OUR LITTLE BEAUTY shifted its near fore plate and BELLE'S ODYSSEY lost its off hind plate in running.

Race 4: Scotsdale Homes Pty Ltd Colts & Geldings Class 1 H'cap - 1200m
1st - Cajun Steel 2nd - Iron Bridge 3rd - Skyleda 4th - Clangover

EASY RECEIPT and CAJUN STEEL came together on jumping away.

Approaching the 200m NORTHERN ALPS had to be steadied to avoid the heels of EASY RECEIPT which was weakening.

A Kennedy was questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted on IRON BRIDGE. Jockey A Kennedy stated that his instructions were to ride for the lead. He further added that after beginning only fairly he urged IRON BRIDGE forward in the early stages and after obtaining the lead approaching the 800m the gelding commenced to race keenly, particularly when EASY RECEIPT raced to that horse's outside. In his opinion IRON BRIDGE finished the race off well. Trainer T Rogers confirmed the instructions but added that the connections would have liked A Kennedy to take a sit if possible. Mr Rogers confirmed that the connections had supported IRON BRIDGE for today's event but added that they were initially disappointed with the ride of A Kennedy but conceded after viewing the stewards' film that IRON BRIDGE raced keenly with A Kennedy in the middle stages. Mr S Ryan, representing the owners, Mr R & Ms J Wanless, confirmed that the connections had supported the horse today and he concurred with Mr Rogers' comments. Their comments were noted.

When questioned regarding his riding of EASY RECEIPT, App. M Palmer stated that his instructions were to lead if possible. He further added that EASY RECEIPT was inclined to over-race in the middle stages whilst he was endeavouring to steady. His explanation was noted.

A Kennedy was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.

After the running of this event the track was upgraded to "Good".

Race 5: Abacus Property Development Pty Ltd Colts & Geldings Maiden H'cap - 1400m
1st - Capirossi 2nd - Leeds United 3rd - Russian Castle 4th - Dodge Beauty

LA TAR which was fractious in the barrier was withdrawn at 3.16 pm on vet's advice. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on LA TAR be refunded with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar for the win and 11 cents in the dollar for the place on the face value of win and place tickets applicable.

RUSSIAN CASTLE was crowded for room on jumping away between DALLAMON and GO THE TIGER which shifted out.

DALLAMON over-raced in the early stages.

LEEDS UNITED was forced to race 3 wide throughout.

Approaching the 700m RUSSIAN CASTLE shifted out forcing FILANTHROPIST and OLYMPIC TIME wider on the track.

After passing the 700m, when the pace steadied, GO THE TIGER had to be steadied off the heels of HARDER.

M Bennett and M Traecey were reminded of their obligations to ride their mounts out to the end of the race.

A post race veterinary examination of FILANTHROPIST failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 6: Oyster Cove Resort Class 3 H'cap - 1800m
1st - Miss La Tar 2nd - Cassini Probe 3rd - Gina Shay 4th - North Country

EARLSTOUN GRACE was slow to begin.

BRITISH STORM was inclined to over-race in the early and middle stages.

When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted on BRITISH STORM, Jockey D Tanti stated that his instructions were to be running 5th or 6th and to make his move from the 600m. He stated that after jumping away awkwardly his foot was dislodged from the near side iron placing him at a disadvantage for a short distance. He then obtained the lead near the 1400m and allowed BRITISH STORM to stride forward approaching the 600m. Mr East, Trainer G Ryan's representative, confirmed the instructions. Stewards advised Jockey D Tanti that in their opinion he erred by allowing BRITISH STORM to stride forward at that stage of the race. Jockey Tanti's comments were noted.

Race 7: Dayshelf Fire Protection Fillies & Mares Class 1 H'cap - 1200m
1st - Seattle Zip 2nd - In The Gold 3rd - Pride of Africa 4th - Denise's Diamond

Stewards accepted the explanation of Mr M Nolan's representative in relation to his failure to declare a rider for DENISE'S DIAMOND by the prescribed time.

Trainer K Lantry was fined the sum of $100 for late notification of riders for EXCITEMENT MACHINE - R7 and IN THE NICK - R8.

BLUEBERRY AVENUE jumped away awkwardly.

SEATTLE ZIP and EXCITEMENT MACHINE came together on jumping away.

IN THE GOLD and KALMIA came together on jumping away.

Approaching the 1000m MAIZELLE commenced to over-race and near the 800m shifted out and had to be checked off the heels of DENISE'S DIAMOND. EXCITEMENT MACHINE which was following had to be steadied as a consequence. MAIZELLE continued to over-race for some distance.

BLUEBERRY AVENUE was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn and was steadied off the heels of EXCITEMENT MACHINE.

DENISE'S DIAMOND was held up for clear running from shortly after straightening until after passing the 100m.

Approaching the 100m EXCITEMENT MACHINE attempted a run to the outside of ISCHIA where there was doubtful room. ISCHIA shifted out slightly forcing EXCITEMENT MACHINE out on to MAIZELLE. T Treichel continued to ride EXCITEMENT MACHINE out further crowding MAIZELLE between EXCITEMENT MACHINE and FLY ME HOME. T Treichel was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Approaching the winning post M Bennett (SEATTLE ZIP) accidentally dropped his whip.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of SEATTLE ZIP today, Trainer H Wilson stated that in his opinion the filly had raced below expectation in her previous two starts when well beaten and on the advice of his veterinary surgeon added a tongue tie for today's event.

It was reported that FLY ME HOME lost its near fore plate in running.

Race 8: Exit Realty Class 4 H'cap - 1400m
1st - Fire Warrior 2nd - Kendrick Lad 3rd - In The Nick 4th - Newtown Lad

DREAM OF YOU was slow to begin.

JUST BROWSING jumped away awkwardly.

LINDHOLME and JUSTATRICE came together on jumping away.

Approaching the 800m MR LISTER had to be steadied off the heels of LINDHOLME which shifted out slightly.

Passing the 200m JUST BROWSING which was inclined to lay in had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MUKQUIN which shifted out.

MUKQUIN was held up in the early stages of the straight.

It was reported that FIRE WARRIOR lost its off fore plate in running.
