Race 1: South East Queensland Fuels Fillies & Mares Class 6 H'Cap - 1200m
1st - Dane Shakira 2nd - Route Sixty Six 3rd - Frisco Agogo 4th - Suubird
MISS JONES was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 9.20 a.m.
DANTIBES RHYTHM jumped away awkwardly.
OUT THERE raced wide throughout.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of PERSUADES in today's event M. Cahill stated that despite having to make some use from the horse's wide barrier he felt the horse then travelled well in the middle stages until on straightening where the horse commenced to feel the pressure of the race and compounded over the concluding stages. Trainer T. Ainsworth stated that he agreed with the disappointing performance and felt it may be better suited when being ridden behind the pace. He added that he also intended to have a pathology test taken and undertook to notify stewards of any abnormality that may come to light. A veterinary examination revealed PERSUADES to be showing signs of respiratory distress.
S. Katsidis (KOHINOOR BELLE) dropped his whip near the 300 metres.
Near the finishing line POLKA QUEEN had to be steadied to avoid running onto the heels of FRISCO AGOGO.
Race 2: Macau Jockey Club Trophy - 2200m
1st - Who Dealt This 2nd - Picaplace 3rd - Just Browsing 4th - We Can't Say That
Trainer C. Connors was fined the sum of $50.00 for failing to present the document of description for KOHINOOR BELLE.
EYE GEE AYE was a little slow to jump.
Rounding the first turn WHEEL THE LEAD shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of SEVEN CROWNIES.
ART STUDENT was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.
THE GREAT I AM and SEVEN CROWNIES were also obliged to race wide throughout.
Approaching the home turn JUST BROWSING had to be steadied off the heels of ART STUDENT which shifted in slightly.
On straightening WHEEL THE LEAD had to be steadied to avoid the heels of JUST BROWSING which shifted out off the heels of SEVEN CROWNIES. Following an inquiry into this incident M. Cahill the rider of JUST BROWSING was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out off the heels of SEVEN CROWNIES when not clear which resulted in WHEEL THE LEAD to be checked and taken wider.
Race 3: Emirates Airline Stakes H'Cap - 1400m
1st - Amex 2nd - Experience 3rd - Sighing 4th - Kanetoshi Millions
EXPERIENCE was obliged to race wide for the majority of the race.
Leaving the 1300 metres KANETOSHI MILLIONS was inclined to shift in away from CEFFYL which resulted in ALFONSO and KITNAT racing in restricted room.
Also leaving the 1300 metres CUT A CAPER had to be eased off the heels of KANES CROSSING which shifted in.
Near the 1200 metres ROYAL OPERA, CEFFYL, KANETOSHI MILLIONS and KITNAT all raced in restricted room inside of KANES CROSSING which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. T. Pannell the rider of KANES CROSSING was severely reprimanded and instructed to provide more clearance in future when crossing. In this incident ROYAL OPERA got it's head up and was inclined to race ungenerously.
When questioned as to the poor performance of ALFONSO App. Y. Yamazaki informed connections that the horse failed to handle to rain effected track. A veterinary examination of ALFONSO revealed no apparent abnormality and was sent to be swabbed.
Race 4: Culpans Electrical Ken Russell Memorial 2YO Classic - 1300m
1st - Foolish 2nd - Testafiable 3rd - Cool Scene 4th - Thin And Crispy
As C. Whiteley had been dually engaged he was replaced by J. Byrne as the rider of LEGAL PURSUIT. Trainer L. Fraser will be interviewed.
NOVA STAR and TESTAFIABLE jumped away awkwardly.
TULLIBIGEAL was forced to race wide throughout.
On entering the straight TESTAFIABLE became held up on the heels of THIN AND CRISPY and was unable to obtain clear running until the 200 metres.
At the 350 metres NOVA STAR had to be steadied when tightened for room between TULLIBIGEAL and ARISTOCRACY which shifted out.
Approaching the 200 metres NOVA STAR had to be steadied to avoid the heels of the tiring CIELO GOLD.
GREEN LAGONDA cast it's near front plate.
Race 5: Independent Fuel Supplies Gold Coast 3YO Guineas - 1400m
1st - Eremein 2nd - Legendary Man 3rd - Sydney Express 4th - Gumnuts
ELLAY CONFIDENTIAL was a late scratching. Trainer M. Thexton will be interviewed in relation to the withdrawal of the horse after the dead line.
HAPPIER was slow to jump.
BIRTHDAY BASH jumped away awkwardly and missed the start.
Approaching the 1000 metres GUMNUTS which was inclined to overrace had to be checked off the heels of SON OF DANE. In this incident when the pace slowed SYDNEY EXPRESS had to be steadied off the heels of FROTTAGE and then shifted in cramping SIR WOODY which got it's head up and raced ungenerously.
IFLOOXCOULDKILL and PICCAWAR were obliged to race wide throughout.
Shortly after entering the straight EREMEIN shifted out to improve and made contact with RICH MEGADALE.
Approaching the 400 metres HAPPIER had to be checked when improving onto the heels of SIR WOODY.
D. Nikolic the rider of SYDNEY EXPRESS was severely reprimanded for shifting out near the 400 metres when not clear of SIR WOODY resulting in SIR WOODY having to be steadied.
B. Pengelly the rider of LEGENDARY MAN was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift out near the 350 metres when not sufficiently clear of HAPPIER forcing that horse out onto SIR WOODY which had to be checked and taken out onto BIRTHDAY BASH which also had to be checked and taken wider on the track. B. Pengally was suspended from racing for a period of eight (8) meetings to commence midnight 17 May 2005 and to expire midnight 1 June 2005.
Race 6: Carlton Draught Prime Minister's Cup - 2400m
1st - Sir Dex D/Heat 2nd - Perlin and Regal Punch 4th - Tickle
Approaching the home turn HANALEI BAY improved onto the heels of WALTERMITTY and had to be steadied.
TICKLE blundered on jumping away.
TOULOUSE LAUTREC was hampered on jumping away between REGAL PUNCH and WALTERMITTY which shifted in.
MAKE ME A MIRACLE was slow to begin.
Race 7: Norco Pauls Milk A.D. Hollindale Stakes - 1800m
1st - Platinum Scissors 2nd - Roman Arch 3rd - Devastating 4th - Cedar Manor
SCENIC WELLS was slow to begin.
SPIRIT OF TARA and IRISH ROVER were hampered on jumping away between PARAMETER and PLATINUM SCISSORS which was taken in by CELTIC TRIAL.
PORTLAND SINGA was caught wide rounding the first turn and was obliged to race wide in the middle stages.
Leaving the 100 metres DEVASTATING had to be eased due to improving onto the heels of PLATINUM SCISSORS.
Race 8: Wanless Wastecorp Colts & Geldings Class 6 H'Cap - 1200m
1st - San Franfrisco 2nd - King of Spin 3rd - Slick Operator 4th - Stars O' Gold
S. Seamer was notified late as the rider of INTERSTORM. Stewards will interview trainer K. Lantry at a suitable time.
VORACIOUS and STARS O' GOLD came together on jumping away.
SAN FRANFRISCO jumped away awkwardly.
BUSHLAND was slow to begin.
STARS O' GOLD was inclined to overrace in the early stages.
When questioned as to KING OF SPIN settling back further in the field today than expected App. T. Pannell stated that the horse was not comfortable in the going and between the 1000 and the 600 metres the horse seemed to flounder
Passing the 600 metres GRAB THE PHONE was inclined to lay in and SAN FRANFRISCO which was following had to be steadied after improving onto it's heels.
LUST FOR VICTORY was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.
GRAB THE PHONE was inclined to lay in over the concluding stages and as a result proved difficult for T. Treichel to
test over the concluding stages.
A. Pattillo the rider of BUSHLAND reported that near the 600 metres he was struck in the head by a clod of dirt which placed him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race and he dismounted from BUSHLAND after passing the winning post.
ALL WINNERS PLUS ALFONSO, TESTAFIABLE, LEGENDARY MAN, SIR DEX, PERLIN, REGAL PUNCH, PLATINUM SCISSORS, ROMAN ARCH AND DEVASTATING WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
