Race 1: The Gold Coast Panache Magazine 3YO & Upwards Maiden Plate - 1000m
1st - Gold Solomon 2nd - Jack Christi 3rd - La Cohorte 4th - Mr Sunray

SPECTACULAR BANKER was declared a late withdrawal at 11.23 a.m. on veterinary advice after that horse was injured enroute to the course.

LA COHORTE jumped in the air at the start.

MR SUNRAY jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 150 metres MR SUNRAY was inclined to lay in and as a result had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LA COHORTE.



Race 2: 102.9 Hot Tomato 2YO Maiden Plate - 900m
1st - Lesmartre 2nd - Blarney Wish 3rd - Daimyo 4th - Hotshot Hayil

MIDNIGHT LEAF which refused to enter the barrier was declared a late scratching at 12.38 p.m. by order of Stewards. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on MIDNIGHT LEAF were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 5 cents in the dollar for a win and 5 cents in the dollar for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer G. Hardy was advised that MIDNIGHT LEAF must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to it's next start.

RED BANDANA was hampered on jumping away between DECADEL and EBONY GIRL which shifted out.

DAIMYO jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start DARFUR shifted in and made contact with LEGAL JARGON.

Near the 300 metres DECADEL shifted out and made contact with PRINCESS ARI.

DECADEL was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

A postrace veterinary examination of BLARNEY WISH revealed a deep laceration to the near hind pastern.



Race 3: W. & P. Scaffolders Maiden H'Cap - 1800m
1st - Rose Hussar (NZ) 2nd - Social Worker 3rd - Sweet Venture 4th - Hopeson

On jumping away ASPEN BEAU was tightened for room between ENVIABLE and HOPESON both of which shifted ground.

When the pace steadied near the 1200 metres ZOUGA had to be steadied off the heels of ROSE HUSSAR. FELLING and HOPESON which were following also had to be steadied as a consequence.

ENVIABLE and SOCIAL WORKER were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

BATTLE LOVER was inclined to lay in in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 300 metres FELLING ran up onto the heels of ZOUGA and had to shift out abruptly.

SOCIAL WORKER was inclined to lay in behind ROSE HUSSAR over the concluding stages placing it's rider A. Best at a disadvantage.

HOPESON was inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.



Race 4: Life Education Qld 3YO Maiden H'Cap - 1200m
1st - Crystal Joe 2nd - Mr Beanwater 3rd - Flying Nurse 4th - South Of The River

As R. Morris was indisposed stewards permitted D. Griffin to be replaced as the rider of SOUTH OF THE RIVER.

YESSAM NIL jumped in the air at the start.

CRYSTAL JOE jumped away awkwardly shifted in and made contact with A SECRET KEPT which in turn shifted in and bumped MR BEANWATER.

FRAGMENTIZER jumped out at the start and bumped CATFISH.

KATIE'S BUOY was slow to begin.

After passing the 1100 metres A SECRET KEPT which was overracing had to be steadied off the heels of SOUTH OF THE RIVER.

Passing the 800 metres YESSAM NIL shifted out taking CATFISH wider on the track.

Shortly after straightening MR BEANWATER shifted out abruptly when racing greenly. A short distance later MR BEANWATER again shifted out and then continued to race ungenerously for the remainder of the event.



Race 5: Wally Fullerton-Smith & Associates Class 6 H'Cap - 1800m
1st - Kid De Lago 2nd - Miss La Tar 3rd - Into The Trees 4th - Timesto

KID DE LAGO was slow to begin.

Rounding the first turn KID DE LAGO which was inclined to lay out had to be checked off the heels of ADILLO ADILLO.

In the middle stages MIXADAD was inclined to lay in and made contact with SUNFAIR on several occasions.

App. C. Pay the rider of ADILLO ADILLO was found guily of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that after passing the 450 metres he permitted his mount to shift out causing NICTOM to be checked off his heels. When considering penalty stewards took into consideration that App. C. Pay may have been in some difficulty caused by his saddle shifting forward near the 1200 metres. App. C. Pay was issued with a severe reprimand.



Race 6: Carl Waugh Class 2 H'Cap Cup - 2200m
1st - Full Retail 2nd - Encosta Rocket 3rd - Nothin Leica Dream 4th - Ratio

LOPPER jumped out at the start and made contact with FLYING CRUSADER.

Near the 2100 metres LOPPER had to be steadied when forced across the heels of RATIO by GRAND COLOURS (N. Tomizawa). Jockey N. Tomizawa was severely admonished and advised that that standard of riding would not be condoned. Stewards recorded a severe reprimand against N. Tomizawa.

Near the 1400 metres LOPPER when being steadied off the heels of RATIO steadied and became unbalanced.

Near the 1300 metres GRAND COLOURS ran up onto the heels of POOP DECK PAPPY and had to be steadied.

FLYING CRUSADER was forced to race wide in the middle stages.

ENCOSTA ROCKET was forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

Near the 600 metres GRAND COLOURS had to be steadied off the heels of POOP DECK PAPPY.

Rounding the home turn LOPPER when attempting to improve around the heels of FLYING CRUSADER made contact with GRAND COLOURS and as a result became unbalanced.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of LOPPER App. C. Pay stated that the horse travelled well throughout but after being held up rounding the home turn failed to respond to his riding over the concluding stages. Trainer M. Lakey was at a loss to explain the horse's poor performance. A postrace veterinary examination of LOPPER revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M. Lakey undertook to advise stewards should anything come to light that may have effected the horse's performance in the days subsequent to the event.



Race 7: Thiel Partners Accountants Class 1 H'Cap
1st - Admiralty's Girl 2nd - Partying 3rd - Roaring Home 4th - Bobbie Belle

ADMIRALTY'S GIRL jumped away awkwardly.

BRONCO ALF was tightened on jumping away between KOMATIPOORT and ANOTHER GLANCE which shifted in.

Shortly after the start RAPT IN BLU, ROARING HOME and RARE PROSPECT were all tightened for room between BOBBIE BELLE and MELODY BAY which shifted in.

KOMATIPOORT overraced approaching the first turn and had to be steadied off the heels of ROARING HOME.

Near the 600 metres ROARING HOME and BOBBIE BELLE were placed in restricted room by MELODY BAY which was taken in by ANOTHER GLANCE. In this incident BOBBIE BELLE became unbalanced. RAPT IN BLU which was following had to be steadied as a consequence. Stewards intend to interview App. B. McDonald (ANOTHER GLANCE) at a time and date to be fixed.

Near the 500 metres KOMATIPOORT had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of ROARING HOME which shifted in slightly.

BUCHANAN STAR was forced to race wide throughout.



Race 8: The Golden Door Health Retreat Class 3 H'Cap - 1400m
1st - Vee Rod 2nd - Go Riding 3rd - Nediym's Image 4th - Miss Rollalong

Stewards considered an objection lodged by App. M. Yoshinaga the rider of MISS ROLLALONG which finished fourth against GO RIDING (C. Franklin) being declared second placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference passing the 300 metres. On the evidence it was established that MISS ROLLALONG shifted out of it's own accord and made contact with the hind quarters of VEE ROD and as a result became unbalanced. The protest was therefore dismissed and correct weight was declared as semaphored.

YOU ARE HOLY was slow to begin.

MISS ROLLALONG jumped out at the start.

Near the 500 metres LARA'S WAY was placed in restricted room between GYPSY MINX and EESSPEE which was inclined to lay in.

OCTONE was inclined to lay in for the majority of the straight.

Near the winning post VEE ROD shifted out inconveniencing MISS ROLLALONG.

App. D. Hawkes (BOTTLE) accidentally dropped her whip rounding the home turn.

A postrace veterinary examination of GYPSY MINX revealed no abnormality.
