Race 1: Collas Moro Ross Maiden Plate - 1400m
1st - She Shiraz 2nd - Miss Leighgal 3rd - King’s Chariot 4th - Sir Laurdown
WENDY’S MEDICINE (App. S. Nakamura) shifted out at the start making contact with SIR LAURDOWN (G. Auckram).
Approaching the 600 metres SIR LAURDOWN was inclined to lay in.
MISS LEIGHAL (D. Tanti) shifted out under pressure in the straight.
Race 2: Grand Motors OTIS 2YO Maiden H’Cap - 1200m
1st - Four In Hand 2nd - Mighty Canny 3rd - Lasoron 4th - Glogirl
Trainer B. McLachlan was fined the sum of $100.00 for failing to declare C. Whiteley as the rider for FOUR IN HAND by the prescribed time.
LASORON (D. Tanti) blundered at the start losing considerable ground.
SONGBURST (R. Martin) began awkwardly.
MIGHTY CANNY (A. Best) shifted out at the start making heavy contact with SHINKO GEM (D. Griffin).
SNINKO GEM raced ungenerously in the middle stages.
LASORON raced greenly from the 400 metres until approaching the winning post.
Trainer B. Guy was advised that a warning would be placed on LASORON in relation to the filly’s racing manners.
Race 3: Gold Coast Earthmoving Maiden H’Cap - l000m
1st - Observation 2nd – D/Heat - Out Of Asia & Arcaleh 4th - Bentley Boy
Trainer J. Morrisey through his stable representative was fined the sum of $100.00 for the late declaration of R. Martin as the rider for OBSERVATION.
Stewards permitted the late gear change of pacifiers and tongue tie off for ARCALEH. After considering trainer R. Bradshaw’s explanation no further action was taken.
TYCOON TOWARRI (D. Tanti) which was slow to begin jumped inwards making contact with BENTLEY BOY (D. Griffin).
Leaving the 600 metres KING’S DEVIL (C.Whiteley) had to be steadied off the heels of MACSEQUAL (D. Green) which shifted out.
KING’S DEVIL was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.
P. Cuddihy (PRY) accidentally dropped his whip at the 200 metre mark.
OUT OF ASIA (App. M. Palmer) shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
Race 4: Nerang RSL & Memorial Club Class 2 H’Cap - 900m
1st - Snipover 2nd - Kudrow 3rd - Picafight 4th - Cashkitty
SNIPOVER (D. Tanti) jumped awkwardly.
Shortly after the start ADD IT UP (P. Hammersley) blundered losing ground. A postrace veterinary examination of ADD IT UP revealed no abnormalities.
Approaching the 700 metres PICAFIGHT (App. M. Palmer) commenced to race ungenerously. SHAKEEBA GAZE (D. Griffin) which was following had to be steadied.
Approaching the 100 metres ROSE OF SEQUALO (C. Whiteley) had to be steadied off the heels of PICAFIGHT which shifted out. App. M. Palmer was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of SNIPOVER as compared to it’s previous start at the Gold Coast Turf Club on 25 March 2006, trainer D. Caldwell stated that the mare had traveled better today and was able go forward as compared to it’s previous start when SNIPOVER experienced interference shortly after the start which resulted in the mare over-racing whilst racing back in the field. Trainer D. Caldwell also stated that the mare was more suited on today’s rain affected track.
Race 5: Surfers Paradise RSL Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap - 1200m
1st - Miss Haversham 2nd - Lady Noname 3rd - Monarchist 4th - Reactive Dancer
LA RAMBLA (P. Hammersley) and LITTLE LADY DANCER (App. M. Palmer) bumped on jumping away.
TINGOLION (S. Shield) jumped awkwardly.
LADY NONAME (D. Tanti) was slow to begin.
Stewards questioned jockey P. Hammersley regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of LA RAMBLA in today’s event. P. Hammersley stated that the filly began fairly and traveled well in the early stages however, failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure leaving the 550 metres. He further added that in his opinion the filly failed to handle the slow track conditions. Stewards also questioned trainer B. Laming who stated that in his opinion the filly did not handle today’s rain affected surface. A post-race veterinary examination of LA RAMBLA revealed no abnormalities and the filly was sent to be swabbed.
Trainer H. Page was fined the sum of $50.00 for presenting MISS HAVESRSHAM to race with incorrect gear.
Race 6: Southport Workers Community Club Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’Cap - 1200m
1st - Fissile 2nd - Sneaky Long 3rd - Shinko Attack 4th. Gallant Archer
At the start FISSILE (N. Day) was tightened for room between SHINKO ATTACK (S. Shield) and SNEAKY LONG (App. M. Palmer) which shifted out.
Leaving the 100 metres GALLANT ARCHER (D. Tanti) raced up onto the heels of SHINKO ATTACK and had to be steadied shifted out to obtain clear running.
A post-race veterinary examination of MALITA (C. Whiteley) revealed no abnormalities.
Following concerns raised by jockey P. Hammersley regarding several sections of the track stewards examined the track and declared the track safe for racing.
Race 7: FPC Printers Class 3 H’Cap - 1800m
1st - Deauville 2nd - Dashing Dane 3rd - Sir Coup 4th - Cazza’s Lottery
Trainer J. Collins through his stable representative was fined the sum of $100.00 for failing to declare C. Whiteley as the rider of TSOLIAS by the prescribed time. -
Stewards considered an application from trainer B. Laming to scratch SIR COUP from this event. After considering all submissions stewards refused Mr Laming’s application.
MAHIMAN (A. Merritt) which began awkwardly shifted out making contact with DANZIG RED (D. Tanti) which in turn shifted out bumping NAYIZNA (D. Green).
CAZZA’S LOTTERY (App. M. Palmer) began awkwardly.
DANZIG RED pulled hard in the early stages.
Leaving the 650 metres SELECT OFFICIAL (G. Auckram) had to be steadied off the heels of NAYIZNA (D. Green) which shifted out.
SIR COUP (P. Hammersley) raced wide in the middle and latter stages of the race.
TSOLIAS (C. Whiteley) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and had to be steadied off the heels of MAHIMAN which shifted in.
Race 8: Prime Minister’s Cup Raceday, Sat 6 May - Book Now! H’Cap -
1400m
1st - What A Guy 2nd - Cut A Caper 3rd - Point Of Honour 4th - Classic Karla
LATINLOVER (S. Shield) shifted out at the start making contact with CUT A CAPER (App. S. Nakamura). Shortly after LATINLOVER then shifted in making contact with KANETOSHI MILLIONS (D. Green). POINT OF HONOUR (D. Barton) was slow to begin.
Approaching the 400 metres CLASSIC KARLA (App. M. Palmer) shifted out making contact with POINT OF HONOUR.
Jockey A. Best was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that approaching the 200 metres he directed his mount out around the heels of CRIMEWAVE (D. Griffin) and in doing so made contact with GOOD TIMING (C. Whiteley) resulting in GOOD TIMING being forced out onto the hind quarters of CLASSIC KARLA (App. M. Palmer) which became unbalanced and shifted in resulting in GOOD TIMING having to be checked.
A. Best was suspended from riding in races for a period of seven (7) meetings to commence midnight 12 April 2006 and expire midnight 22 April 2006.
ALL WINNERS PLUS LA RAMBLA, ADD IT UP, OUT OF ASIA AND GLOGIRL WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
