SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Following the explanation from trainer K. Smith as to H. O'Hara working when not registered stewards took no action due to the mitigating circumstances.

From Sunshine Coast Turf Club - 16 April 2006

Stewards questioned trainer T. Whittington in relation to CITY LIGHTS settling further back in the field than anticipated at Caloundra on Sunday 16 April 2006. He stated that whilst he had instructed jockey D. Browne to ride the horse further back than its most recent starts he was surprised to see the horse settle as far back as it did. T. Whittington's explanation was noted however he was reminded of his obligations to notify stewards of any change in riding tactics.



Race 1: Gold Coast Bulletin Maiden H'Cap - 900m
1st - Our Babe Gemma 2nd - Paddycolo 3rd - Earlstoun Fair 4th - Slugsisterkate

LOVELY BUBBLY (App. D. Peisley), DANZILANDER (App. O. Turpin) and LE MONT BLANC (N. Seymour) were all tightened for room on jumping away between LION AWAKE (P. Hammersley) and SLUGSISTERKATE (D. Griffin) both of which shifted in.

PADDYCOLO (D. Craven) was slow to begin.

PADDYCOLO hung in when placed under pressure in the straight.

Trainer R. McCall's representative Miss N. McCall was advised that LOVELY BUBBLY which commenced to buck shortly after the start will have to compete in an official barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards before starting again.



Race 2: The Cheesecake Shop 3YO & Up Maiden Plate - 1400m
1st - Bundanoon 2nd - So Forth 3rd - Chatinn 4th - Medical Benefit

GEE TEE (D. Craven) jumped out at the start taking DANE DREAM (App. O. Turpin) out onto MILANTI (D. Griffin) which in turn shifted out forcing CHATINN (S. Shield) out onto FOUND THE MONEY (A. Merritt) which had to be steadied when taken across the heels of BUNDANOON (P. Hammersley).

RAMANAUSKAS (M. Carson) blundered on jumping away.

Approaching the 1200 metres GEE TEE whilst overracing shifted out taking MILANTI out onto CHATINN. At the same time MEDICAL BENEFIT (R. Martin) shifted in further tightening the running of CHATINN resulting in that horse having to be checked. In the circumstances stewards severely reprimanded R. Martin rider of MEDICAL BENEFIT and advised him he must be fully clear when shifting ground in future.

GEE TEE continued to overrace and made contact with MILANTI on several occasions approaching the first turn.

Leaving the 1200 metres MEDICAL BENEFIT when being steadied off the heels of SO FORTH (P. Cuddihy) got it's head up and raced ungenerously.

DANE DREAM shifted out under pressure in the straight.

M. Carson the rider of RAMANAUSKAS was questioned regarding the gelding's seemingly disappointing performance today. He stated that the horse had blundered on jumping away however, travelled well in the early stages of the event but when asked for an effort leaving the 700 metres the horse failed to respond to his riding and did not run on over the concluding stages. Trainer R. Fleming was unable to offer any explanation for the gelding's performance and in his opinion RAMANAUSKAS was very disappointing today. He further stated he intended to spell the horse. A postrace veterinary examination of RAMANAUSKAS failed to reveal any abnormality.




Race 3: Pacific Fair Shopping Centre 3YO Maiden H'Cap - 1200m
1st - Variegation 2nd - Ease The Freeze 3rd - Chick Gold 4th - After Eight

AFTER EIGHT (A. Best) jumped out at the start and made contact with VARIEGATION (P. Hammersley).

CHICK GOLD (D. Griffin) jumped away awkwardly and shortly after was tightened for room between IVOR SPECIAL (R. Martin) and CRAIGLEA COUNTESS (App. D. Peisley) which shifted in.

MADAMME JOSIE (A. Merritt) raced wide throughout.

A postrace veterinary examination of MADAMME JOSIE which compounded over the concluding stages failed to reveal any abnormality.




Race 4: Beach Hotel @ Broadbeach Class 4 H'Cap - 1200m
1st - Elysian Field 2nd - Small Planet 3rd - Draveen 4th - Montegue

POPPY POWER (C. Whiteley) jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start MONTEGUE (App. M. Palmer) shifted in taking ELYSIAN FIELD (D. Tanti) onto the hind quarters POPPY POWER.

POPPY POWER and MONTEGUE raced wide throughout.

TRANQUIL BLUE (M. Carson) raced extremely wide throughout the event.

MONTEGUE was momentarily held up for clear running on straightening.

Near the 200 metres HEAVENLY CRUISE (K. Yoshida) shifted out and made contact with POPPY POWER.




Race 5: United Financial Services Class 2 H'Cap - 1000m
1st - Thimbles 2nd - So Chic 3rd - In The Glasshouse 4th - Taking Charge

FUTURE HIT (A. Merritt) was slow to begin.

IN THE GLASSHOUSE (A. Best) shifted out at the start taking SO CHIC (C. Whiteley) out onto ADVERSARY (N. Seymour).

CASHKITTY (App. C. Pay) jumped away awkwardly.

App. D. Peisley the rider of GLORY GAMES pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that whilst riding his horse along he allowed his mount to shift out near the 200 metres when insufficiently clear of FUR TRADER (D. Craven) resulting in that horse having to be checked and lose it's position. App. D. Peisley's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) meetings to commence midnight 26 April 2006 and to expire midnight 7 May 2006.




Race 6: Battery World Fillies & Mares Class 1 H'Cap - 1200m
1st - Miss Judgement 2nd - Belles Opinion 3rd - Passagemaker 4th - Mi Cielo

GENERALLY CHARMING (App. D. Peisley) jumped out at the start taking ORIANA (P. Cuddihy) out onto FOREST WHISPERS (A. Best).

Rounding the first turn GENERALLY CHARMING commenced to overrace and when being steadied off the heels of MISS JUDGEMENT (C. Whiteley) shifted out making contact with ORIANA.

FOREST WHISPERS and MONARCHIST (App. C. Pay) raced wide in the middle stages.

SEQUEL SCENE (K. Yoshida) blundered near the 200 metres.




Race 7: Ricoh Business Centre Gold Coast Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H'Cap - 1200m
1st - Langlaw 2nd - Chance Bay 3rd - Fyodor 4th - Observation

Shortly after the start ANOTHER GLANCE (App. C. Pay), COLEYVILLE ROAD (A. Merritt), BOLD ARROW (S. Shield) and OBSERVATION (N. Seymour) were all tightened for room between STAR BLITZ (App. D. Peisley) which jumped outwards and MALITA (C. Whiteley) which jumped inwards. As a result of this tightening COLEYVILLE ROAD lost it's position.

Near the 1000 metres CHANCE BAY (R. Martin) shifted out away from CORPORATE CUP (A. Best) and made heavy contact with NOSTRUM (D. Tanti).

Leaving the 800 metres FYODOR (P. Hammersley) got it's head up and had to be restrained off the heels of MALITA.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of LANGLAW trainer M. Sims explained that the gelding had overraced in both of it's previous starts since returning from a spell and as a result had not finished those races off. He further explained that in his opinion the horse had resented the tongue tie and the removal of that gear today resulted in the horse settling in today's event and finishing the race off well.



Race 8: 102.9 Hot Tomato Class 3 H'Cap - 1800m
1st - Sir Coup 2nd - Dashing Dane 3rd - Battle At Sea 4th - King Lyphard

Trainer J. Collins was fined the sum of $200.00 for failing to notify N. Seymour as the rider of TSOLIAS within the prescribed time.

SIR COUP (P. Hammersley) and DANSKER (P. Cuddihy) made contact on jumping away.

ENDOWMENT (D. Griffin) jumped out at the start and made contact with BARONIAL (D. Craven).

DANSKER raced ungenerously rounding the first turn.

BATTLE AT SEA (C. Whiteley) raced wide rounding the first turn.

HANDY RED (C. Franklin) commenced to race ungenerously rounding the first turn and shifted out.

Rounding the home turn KING LYPHARD (S. Shield) was momentarily tightened for room between ENDOWMENT and DANSKER which shifted out slightly.

Stewards adjourned an inquiry into P. Hammersley the rider of SIR COUP appearing to make a celebratory gesture at the winning post.
