TAILS ARE WAGGING (D Griffin) which was inclined to lay in in the early stages of the straight shifted out abruptly inside the 50m.
Stewards questioned Trainer M Flanigan and Jockey T Treichel in relation to the riding tactics adopted on FIVE STRAIGHT, particularly in the early stages. T Treichel stated that as he had drawn barrier 3 it was his intention to ride the horse forward to obtain a position near the lead and after securing a position just behind the leader he continued to urge FIVE STRAIGHT forward to maintain that position until a point approaching the 1300m. Trainer M Flanigan concurred with these instructions.
When questioned regarding the tactics employed on BOX OFFICE today, in particular App. J Murphy’s apparent decision to move wider on the track near the 1300m, App. Murphy stated that after beginning awkwardly the horse over-raced during the early and middle stages and near the 1300m BOX OFFICE improved up towards the heels of another runner resulting in her having no alternative but to shift BOX OFFICE wider on the track. App. Murphy stated that she then attempted to gain a position closer to the fence shortly thereafter but was unable to do so. Her explanation was noted.
BROSNAN’S GOLD (G Palmer) lost its off hind plate in running.
A post race veterinary examination of ADILHTAM failed to reveal any abnormality.
