SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Stewards intend to question Jockey N Thomas regarding his failure to fulfil his riding engagement on DESTINY LANE in race 9 at the first available opportunity.

Race 1: Magic Millions Carnival March 2008 3yo & up Maiden H’cap – 1000m .
1st – Anachelle 2nd – Top Ross 3rd – Finn O’Reilly 4th – Sugar Cube

Jockey P Holmes (BLUE COUNTESS) was fined $200 under the provisions of AR175(p) for failing to comply with a steward’s direction to have his name on his riding pants as previously advised.

DONT CALL ME BRUCE (K Purdy) was tightened on jumping away between HAROLI (G Baker) and BINRASY (App. L Dittman) which shifted in after beginning awkwardly. A short distance later BINRASY and DONT CALL ME BRUCE were both tightened for room when racing between HAROLI and BULLISH TREASURE (M Heagney) which shifted in.

Near the 900m ANACHELLE (App. M Speers) had to be steadied off the heels of HAROLI which shifted in.

TOP ROSS (T Pannell) raced wide for the majority of the event.

K Purdy the rider of DONT CALL ME BRUCE was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting her mount to shift out under pressure leaving the 200m when insufficiently clear of BINRASY. Jockey Purdy was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 meetings to commence midnight 01/03/2008 and to expire midnight 12/03/2008 .

LADY GOLDSTEIN (App. G Clegg) was cramped for room approaching the finish of the event when racing between FINN O’REILLY (G Palmer) and ANACHELLE which shifted out.

It was reported that TOP ROSS lost an off side front plate in running.

A post race veterinary examination of HAROLI failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 2: National Jockeys Celebration Day 3yo & up Maiden H’cap – 1000m.
1st – Rautai’s Idol 2nd – His Boy Elroy 3rd – Brigadoon Star 4th - Impulsivedane

TRIPWIRE (W Pearson) jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and bumped HIS BOY ELROY (L App. Dittman).

CALLTHEWITNESS (K Purdy) was slow to begin.

Near the 900m GREMMO (G Baker) was checked when racing on the outside of HAHNEMANN (App. K Yeung) and the inside of STRIKE HOME (N Day), MARWINA ON ICE (App. L Rolls), BRIGADOON STAR (App. O Turpin) and HIS BOY ELROY. After taking evidence from the riders concerned, Stewards determined the incident to be caused by a general movement of horses from the outside and deemed no one rider or horse fully responsible.

Race 3: Gold Coast Stakes Raceday Wednesday 12 March Maiden Plate – 1400m.
1st – Cross Section 2nd – Flirten 3rd – Great Portent 4th - Scared

MYSTERY WORLD (D Tanti) and GREAT PORTENT (N Day) came together and bumped on jumping away.

IRISH CROSS (P Holmes) was slow to begin.

Leaving the 900m CROSS CITY (App. O Turpin) shifted out to improve and in doing so forced JACARANDA HOPE (App. K Yeung) wider on the track. CROSS CITY and JACARANDA HOPE continued to bump for some distance and near the 800m IRISH CROSS was checked when racing on the inside of JACARANDA HOPE and CROSS CITY. Taking into account the racing characteristics of the horses and the inexperience of the riders involved in this incident, Stewards reprimanded both Apprentice O Turpin and App. K Yeung.

SEYBON (L Cheshire) raced wide for the majority of the event.

GREAT PORTENT was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

CROSS SECTION (W Pearson) and FLIRTEN (M Bennett) came together and brushed on a number of occasions over the final 250m.

Race 4: $63 Membership March 2008 C, G & E Class 1 H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Shaos 2nd – Daintree Crossing 3rd –Tiggeroo 4th – Leinster Lad

KOASTAL KING (K Purdy) was slow to begin.

TIGGEROO (T Chambers) and FULL TIDE (M Bennett) came together and brushed on jumping away.

Leaving the 1100m DAINTREE CROSSING (T Pannell) shifted out to improve and in doing so bumped LEINSTER LAD (D Tanti) forcing LEINSTER LAD and TIGGEROO wider on the track. FULL TIDE which was following had to steady as a consequence. As a result of this incident SHAOS (N Day) began to over-race for a short distance when racing to the inside of DAINTREE CROSSING.

TIGGEROO was caught racing wide for the majority of the event.

When questioned regarding the performance of FULL TIDE today, Jockey M Bennett explained that the horse received some inconvenience near the 1200m and as a result seemed to lose interest in the race. He further advised that FULL TIDE seemed to have difficulty handling the softer conditions of the track between the 800 – 400m section. Trainer D Kelly concurred with the comments of Jockey Bennett. Stewards noted the explanation given. A post-race veterinary examination of FULL TIDE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5: Magic Millions Book Now! F & M Class 1 H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Perilous Princess 2nd – Simian Express 3rd – Gather 4th - Nomads

NOMADS (App. L Dittman) was inspected by the veterinary surgeon prior to the event after blood was detected in its mouth. After examination NOMADS was passed fit to start.

NOMADS began awkwardly.

Near the 1000m MORE WHISKY (K Purdy) shifted in and bumped PERILOUS PRINCESS (App. O Turpin).

Stewards opened an inquiry into the handling of SIMIAN EXPRESS. Stewards questioned rider D Barron and representative for Trainer A Bailey, Mr S Jones, over the positioning of the horse in the early stages of the event. It was noted that SIMIAN EXPRESS after being positioned at the rear of the field, over-raced and was held up for clear running rounding the home turn. After taking some evidence from D Barron and S Jones the inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.

Race 6: Easter Saturday Family Fun Day 2yo Maiden Plate – 1200m.
1st – Collision Course 2nd – Sharufa 3rd – Nospeakadeenglish 4th – Sisters in Crime

FARRAR STREET (A Nicholls) was slow to begin.

At the start SISTERS IN CRIME (D Barron) shifted in abruptly resulting in SIR REASON (J Stanley) losing considerable ground.

BISCAYS BEST (M Heagney) was tightened for room shortly after the start between CARACEEA (G Baker) and SINFUL WARRIOR (P Holmes) resulting in BISCAYS BEST blundering and dislodging M Heagney. An inquiry into the incident will be held at a later date after M Heagney was transported to hospital.

SINFUL WARRIOR raced wide for the majority of the event.

Leaving the 550m FARRAR STREET (A Nicholls) was checked when racing to the inside of SHARUFA (D Tanti) which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

NO SPEAKADEENGLISH (T Pannell) and SHARUFA came together and bumped rounding the home turn.

Near the 100m SISTERS IN CRIME shifted out under pressure and in doing so bumped CARACEEA.

A post-race veterinary examination of CASMARA GOLD failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 7: Magic Millions Ladies Day 29 March Class 3 Plate – 1800m.
1st – Flood Hero 2nd – Father Dex 3rd – Teletor 4th – Bearhart Lad

ACE ARENA (App. T Chambers) and PALAWAN PEARL (B Payne) began awkwardly.

MOON QUEST (K Purdy) and TELETOR (P Holmes) came together and bumped on jumping away.

Approaching the 1400m ACE ARENA improved up on to the heels of WHAT ABOUT BROWNIE (App. L Rolls) and had to be checked.

ACE ARENA over-raced in the middle stages and near the 1000m shifted in and bumped BEARHART LAD (T Pannell).

PALAWAN PEARL, WHAT ABOUT BROWNIE and ACE ARENA all raced wide throughout the event.

Leaving the 600m TELETOR shifted out to improve its position and in doing so bumped ACE ARENA.

Race 8: Prime Minister’s Cup Packages Book Now! Class 5 H’cap – 1300m.
1st – Shewhomustbeobeyed 2nd – Road to Persia 3rd – Demolir 4th – Golden Whistler

JUNK BOND (App. M Speers) began awkwardly.

Approaching the 1100m JUNK BOND was crowded for room and hampered when CHANCE BAY (L Cheshire) shifted in when insufficiently clear. L Cheshire was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Approaching the 900m when the pace slackened CASACO (App. T Chambers) began to over-race and shifted out abruptly when steadied off the heels of KING OF SPURS (D Green).

ROAD TO PERSIA (D Barron) and PREND (App. L Rolls) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Rounding the home turn FLYING TEST (T Pannell) shifted out to improve and in doing so made heavy contact with KING OF SPURS.

SHEWHOMUSTBEOBEYED (N Day) was inclined to shift in under pressure over the final 200m.

Race 9: Skyline Restaurant Book Now Class 2 H’cap – 1200m.
1st – Albert the Fat 2nd – Smart Opinion 3rd – Winnie’s Boy 4th – Two Seasons

Due to transportation difficulties HESASHOW was a late withdrawal at 2.53 pm by order of the Stewards.

FIREDRAKE was a late withdrawal at 5.06 pm by order of the Stewards, acting on veterinary advice after the horse injured itself in the race day tie up stall. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all winning bets were ordered to be paid less 37 cents in the dollar for a win and 23 cents for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer G Heinrich’s representative was advised that FIREDRAKE would require a veterinary certificate of clearance before racing again.

DESTINY LANE (L Cheshire) and WINNIE’S BOY (App. L Rolls) came together on jumping away.

ALBERT THE FAT (N Day) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

DESTINY LANE raced wide for the majority of the event.

GYPSY VIOLIN (App. L Dittman) was inclined to hang out in the middle stages of the event.

Near the 700m SMART OPINION (T Pannell) improved up on to the heels of ALBERT THE FAT and had to be steadied and as a consequence shifted out forcing DESTINY LANE wider.

TWO SEASONS (D Tanti) had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.
