SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

As there was no veterinary surgeon on course prior to the running of Race 1 stewards delayed the event and subsequently put all races back one race with Race 8 to commence at 5.15 p.m.

Race 1: Cerise Homes Maiden Plate – 1000m.
1st – Nericon King 2nd – Reign Ready 3rd – Wild Glow 4th – Meydan

IRON FIST (App L. Rolls) and MEYDAN (App M. Hughes) were slow to begin.

REIGN READY (P. Hammersley) and JENNYS GIRL (App L. Dittman) were tightened for room at the start between HUNTING DESIRE (C. Gilby) and SOVIET SUNDAE (W. Pearson) both of which shifted ground.

REIGN READY overraced in the early stages.

T. Cotsiopoulos trainer of JUNALUSKA (M. Morris) which hung out badly rounding the home turn and in the straight was advised that the horse must barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of IRON FIRST App L. Rolls stated that the horse had laid in throughout the event and in his opinion was very disappointing. Trainer M. Eggleston stated that the horse was disappointing however, indicated that in his opinion the horse would be better suited over a longer distance. A post race veterinary examination of IRON FIST failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 2: Australian Construction Training Services Maiden Plate – 1000m.
1st – Laross 2nd – Monashee Dancer 3rd – Run The Course 4th - Intertheblack

T. Cotsiopoulos trainer of CRYSTAL ROCKET (M. Morris) which reared over in the enclosure and was subsequently fractious in the barriers was advised that the horse must barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.

S. Ryan trainer of PRINCESS GESUALDA (C. Gilby) which was fractious in the enclosure and hung out throughout the event was advised that the filly must barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.

T. Whittington the trainer of RUN THE COURSE (P. Holmes), which proved difficult to load, was advised that the colt would require a further barrier certificate prior to it’s next race start.

FLY MISTY (M. Traecey) which broke through the barrier stall prior to the start being effected was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

CRYSTAL ROCKET (M. Morris) after receiving contact from PRINCESS GESUALDA (C. Gilby) which jumped out, had to be checked shortly after and was further tightened for room between PRINCESS GESUALDA and PULL THE WOOL (P. Hammersley) which was taken in by TRUTHFUL (D. Green).

Shortly after the start RUN THE COURSE, PRINCESS GESUALDA and PULL THE WOOL were all tightened for room by TRUTHFUL (D. Green) which shifted in despite the efforts of it’s rider and as a result RUN THE COURSE and PRINCESS GESUALDA lost their position. A short distance after this incident PRINCESS GESUALDA commenced to hang out and did so for the remainder of the event.

ZA GALE (App T. Chambers) raced wide throughout.

MONASHEE DANCER (B. Stewart) shifted ground outwards under pressure in the straight.

INTERTHEBLACK (N. Day) had to be steadied near the 350m when attempting a run between PULL THE WOOL and ZA GALE where there was doubtful room.

P. Holmes the rider of RUN THE COURSE was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out near the 200m resulting in PULL THE WOOL having to be steadied to avoid that horse’s heels. At the same stage ZA GALE also had to be steadied after receiving contact from TRUTHFUL (D. Green) which shifted in slightly.

N. Day the rider of fourth placegetter INTERTHEBLACK was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the finish line.


Race 3: PRD Nationwide QTIS 3YO Maiden H’Cap – 1200m.
1st – Burdekin Blues 2nd – His Boy Elroy 3rd – Blue Jupiter 4th - Dalzar

Trainer T. Whittington was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of COCO MADEMOISELLE (P. Holmes) which proved difficult to load.

DALZAR (N. Day) raced in restricted room for a short distance after the start between EARLY UP (B. Stewart) and CYCLONE LARRY (D. Tanti) both of which shifted ground.

GOLD LAND (App T. Axon) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in making contact with SAN ISIDRO (App M. Speers).

Near the 900m GOLD LAND commenced to overrace and near the 800m had to be checked off the heels of BLUE JUPITER (T. Pannell) and in doing so shifted out abruptly forcing EARLY UP wider on the track. GOLD LAND continued to overrace and near the 700m shifted in when being restrained resulting in SAN ISIDRO striking the heels of GOLD LAND and blundering. The connections of GOLD LAND were advised that an official warning would now be placed on the gelding in relation to it’s racing manners.

CYCLONE LARRY raced wide throughout the event.


Race 4: Earthfleet 3YO & Up Maiden H’Cap – 1300m.
1st – Chaski 2nd – Lady Hemingway 3rd – Howgoodsthat 4th – Gun Salute

ANABIDDY (N. Day) jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.

RED TREASURE (T. Pannell) which jumped away awkwardly was tightened shortly after the start between COOL QUEEN (App M. Speers) and ICEMAN (App L. Rolls) which shifted out.

AZZMY WITNESS (P. Holmes) raced ungenerously in the early stages.

ICEMAN raced wide for the majority of the race.

GUN SALUTE (D. Evans) was held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn.


Race 5: Austral Insulation Class 1 H’Cap – 900m.
1st – Nuclear Trust 2nd – Gypsy Mist 3rd – Nude Etruscan 4th - Shincess

SHINCESS (App T. Chambers) which broke through the barrier stalls prior to the start being effected was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

FANTASIES TONIGHT (App T. Axon) which was slow to begin was tightened for room shortly after between SHINCESS and YEAH GOOD (W. Pearson) which shifted out.

NUCLEAR TRUST (D. Tanti) jumped out and made contact with NUDE ETRUSCAN (App M. Speers).

SHINCESS raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the performance of FANTASIES TONIGHT jockey App T. Axon stated that the horse after receiving tightening at the start failed to muster early speed and in his opinion raced like a horse better suited over a longer distance than today’s event. Trainer S. Ryan concurred with App Axon’s comments and highlighted the fact the horse’s best form had been over considerably longer distances than today. A postrace veterinary examination of FANTASIES TONIGHT revealed an abrasion to the off side hock and puncture wound to the off side knee.


Race 6: Beatrice Porter’s 90th Birthday Class 2 H’Cap – 1400m.
1st – Lassie Mactavish 2nd – Bann Ruby 3rd – Haram 4th – Muzzio

HARAM (App L. Rolls) was slow to begin.

BANN RUBY (P. Holmes) shifted out at the start taking DUST IN YOUR EYES (P. Hammersley) onto PRINCE OF YODELLS (T. Pannell).

Near the 1200m BANN RUBY commenced to overrace and had to be restrained away from the heels of LASSIE MACTAVISH (N. Day) PRINCE OF YODELLS which was following also had to be steadied as a consequence.

Both PRINCE OF YODELLS and BANN RUBY continued to overrace for a short distance thereafter.


Race 7: Mills Oakley Lawyers Class 3 Plate – 1200m.
1st – Romantic Journey 2nd – Unconquerable 3rd – Hear Ye 4th – Heaven May Wait

Leaving the 1100m IMPETUS (P. Holmes) was forced to race in restricted room for a short distance between UNCONQUERABLE (B. Stewart) and ATOMIC HUSS (App M. Speers).

LIONATAQ (W. Pearson) raced wide for the majority of the event.

Leaving the 550m HEAR YE (N. Day) had to be steadied momentarily when tightened for room by UNCONQUERABLE which shifted in slightly.

B. Stewart the rider of UNCONQUERABLE accidentally dropped his whip at the 200m.



Race 8: Sawfordvoll Lawyers Class 2 H’Cap – 1800m.
1st – Bearhart Chic 2nd – Shooting Scene 3rd – Mr Wang 4th – The Brave One

COURTHOUSE COWBOY (B. Stewart) and KAZAK FLYER (App M. O’Connell) made contact on jumping away.

COURTHOUSE COWBOY raced wide in the early stages.

Near the 1500m SAVAGE STORM (L. Cheshire) had to be steadied when tightened for room by THE BRAVE ONE (D. Tanti) which shifted in after receiving contact from SHOOTING SCENE (N. Day).

Near the winning post THE BRAVE ONE improved up onto the heels of SHOOTING SCENE and had to be eased.

B. Stewart the rider of COURTHOUSE COWBOY was reprimanded under AR140(b) for failing to report to stewards that he was concerned with COURTHOUSE COWBOY’S action. Under the circumstances stewards ordered trainer S. Pepper to obtain a veterinary certificate of fitness for COURTHOUSE COWBOY prior to the horse’s next race start.
