BRIGADOON STAR (D Griffin) jumped out at the start making contact with SECRET REQUEST (D Tanti).

HIS BOY LEROY (App. L Dittman) and MOUNTAIN POET (G Palmer) made contact on jumping away.

CYCLONE LARRY over-raced in the early and middle stages.

LA ZAHA (D Barron) and HIS BOY LEROY raced wide for the majority of the event.

SECRET REQUEST had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.

CYCLONE LARRY was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the straight.

Race 2: Prime Minister’s Cup Dining Packages Released QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate Division 2 – 1200m.

DALZAR (G Baker) shifted in and made contact with SWIRLING MOSS (D Griffin) shortly after the start.

REIGN READY (K Sanderson) raced wide for the majority of the event.

D Tanti the rider of SHOVELLA was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in near the 1100m tightening the running of DALZAR, resulting in DALZAR, SWIRLING MOSS and ZA GALE (D Barron) all being tightened between INTERTHEBLACK (App. L Rolls) and SHOVELLA. As a result of this tightening SWIRLING MOSS had to be steadied.

Leaving the 700m HAROLI (W Pearson) broke down in its near fore fetlock and was eased out of the event at that point. The gelding was subsequently euthanased.

A post-race veterinary examination of SHOVELLA which compounded over the concluding stages failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 3: Magic Millions Raceday on Monday Maiden Plate – 1400m.
1st – Meter Maid 2nd – Little Havanna 3rd - Newsroom 4th - Shockie

DEMETER’S COURT (N Paine) was slow to begin.

XAARPHIDIA (App. M Hughes) was tightened for room at the start between HOWGOODSTHAT (App. T Chambers) and LOGIE (W Pearson) both of which shifted ground.

Near the 1000m WENEEDAHERO (D Peisley) had to be steadied when tightened for room by COOL QUEEN (App. M Speers) which shifted in. App. M Speers (COOL QUEEN) was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

CRIMSON FIRE (D Tanti) over-raced in the early stages of the event.

LADY HEMINGWAY (L Cheshire) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

HOWGOODSTHAT raced wide for the majority of the event.

COOL QUEEN was held up and unable to obtain clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Race 4: Ladies Day Saturday 29 March Class 3 H’cap – 900m .
1st – Crackaway 2nd – Ginkgo Gold 3rd – Fuhrnatic 4th – Gypsy Mist

Approaching the 800m CRACKAWAY (D Tanti) had to be steadied when tightened for room between GYPSY MIST (App. L Rolls) and GINKGO GOLD (W Pearson) which was inclined to lay in. While Stewards acknowledged Jockey Pearson’s mount had a tendency to lay in, he was nevertheless reminded of his obligations to stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.

Race 5: Attwood Marshall Lawyers C,G&E Class 1 H’cap – 1200m.
1st – Unconquerable 2nd – Revered Ruler 3rd – Snackman 4th - Thundershot

Trainer S Jones was fined $100 for late notification of rider for TAKE A STAND.

Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey P Hammersley rider of the third placegetter, SNACKMAN, to view the official video to determine whether there were grounds to lodge a protest against the 2nd placegetter, REVERED RULER (A Nicholls).

TRYLION (K Purdy) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

VINTAGE DOM (App. M Speers) was tightened for room at the start between COOL EDGE (App. L Dittman) and TIC TOC TIGER (L Cheshire) both of which shifted ground.

Jockey P Hammersley rider of SNACKMAN was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in leaving the 1000m when insufficiently clear of VINTAGE DOM (M Speers) resulting in VINTAGE DOM being taken in on to COOL EDGE (App. L Dittman) which was tightened and obliged to steady. IRON FIST (App. T Chambers) which was following was hampered as a consequence.

Jockey D Griffin rider of UNCONQUERABLE was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in near the 900m when insufficiently clear of TAKE A STAND (W Pearson) which had to be steadied.

Race 6: Revelstone Stud F & M Class 1 H’cap – 1200m.
1st – She Commands 2nd – Somewhere Safer 3rd – Eclectus 4th - Falvalea

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey W Pearson the rider of LADYSWOOD which finished 5th against FALVALEA (App. M Speers) being declared the 4th placegetter on the grounds of interference near the 100m. On the evidence it was established that near the 100m a run between FALVALEA and SOMEWHERE SAFER (A Nicholls) presented itself however Stewards were of the opinion that due to LADYSWOOD’s tendency to lay in the mare was unable to take advantage of that run and that a short distance later FALVALEA shifted out slightly further impeding LADYSWOOD. Stewards believed that the ground lost by LADYSWOOD as a direct result of the shift from FALVALEA did not materially affect the finishing place of both horses and therefore dismissed the protest.

BHAGWANITA (K Sanderson) had to be checked on jumping away when tightened for room between THRILLUS (D Griffin) which shifted out and ECLECTUS (App. L Rolls) which was taken in by MIA DANA (App. L Dittman).

Near the 1100m HUNANUPTRA, MY MANDOLIN and LADYSWOOD were all forced to race in restricted room for a short distance between BILLYS OMEN (J W Moon) which shifted out slightly and FALVALEA which shifted in.

Jockey J W Moon (BILLYS OMEN) was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out near the 1000m taking HUNANUPTRA out on to MY MANDOLIN (M Morris) which had to be steadied when tightened for room between LADYSWOOD and HUNANUPTRA (P Hammersley).

MIA DANA and LADYSWOOD raced wide for the majority of the event.

Approaching the 700m MOSCHATA (G Baker) improved up on to the heels of YEAH GOOD (App. T Chambers) and had to be steadied. THRILLUS which was following also had to be steadied as a consequence.

Leaving the 600m until entering the home straight THRILLUS (D Griffin) was inclined to hang out placing its rider at a disadvantage.

THRILLUS was held up and unable to improve on the heels of MOSCHATA rounding the home turn.

Race 7: Mirabella Class 4 H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Master Illusion 2nd – Askew 3rd – Matzumi 4th - Crackenback

EXORBITANT (App. M Speers) shifted out shortly after jumping making contact with CAMBRIC (App. T Bannon).

Leaving the 1300m BOLD ACT (A Erhart) shifted in despite the efforts of its rider resulting in GOLDEN WHISTLER (App. L Dittman) having to be steadied to avoid that horse’s heels.

EXORBITANT pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.

Race 8: Myer Class 1 H’cap – 1800m.
1st – Gremmo 2nd – King Xavier 3rd – A Grade 4th – The Brave One

TANAMI TRACKER (P Hammersley) was slow to begin.

MOON QUEST (K Purdy) made the first turn awkwardly and shifted out taking KING XAVIER (G Palmer) and TAXABLE INCOME (App. T Chambers) wider on the track.

TAXABLE INCOME raced wide for the majority of the event.

Stewards questioned Trainer M Flanigan and App. L Dittman in regards to the apparent change of tactics employed on RAW NERVE today. Mr Flanigan stated that RAW NERVE’s most recent runs when settling back in the field had been disappointing and he felt that from the wide barrier today he would instruct App. Dittman to ride the horse in a more handy position but admitted he was surprised to see RAW NERVE leading. App. Dittman confirmed the instructions and stated that he was unable to obtain a position prior to the first turn and was obliged to lead when trapped wide in the early stages. Stewards noted the explanations and reminded Trainer M Flanigan of his obligations under AR135A.

A post-race veterinary examination of MOON QUEST which compounded over the concluding stages failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 9: Von Bibra Motors Class 2 H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Impetus 2nd – Bann Ruby 3rd – Cat Eyes 4th – She Shiraz

Trainer L Morton will be questioned failing his failure to declare a rider by the prescribed time.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey D Griffin the rider of IMPETUS which finished 2nd against BANN RUBY (App. O Turpin) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference on entering the straight and again over the final 200m. On the evidence it was established that at a point inside the 100m BANN RUBY shifted out under pressure making heavy contact with IMPETUS resulting in IMPETUS being forced considerably wider on the track over the final 50m. Bearing in mind the margin of a short head which separated both horses at the finish Stewards upheld the objection and amended the placings to read:

1st Impetus
2nd Bann Ruby
3rd Cat Eyes
4th She Shiraz

At a subsequent inquiry App. O Turpin (BANN RUBY) was reprimanded and advised to stop riding and straighten his mounts earlier than he had on this occasion.

GONDORFF (D Tanti) was slow to begin.

GONDORFF over-raced in the early stages of the event.

Approaching 900m SHAOS (App. L Rolls) had to be steadied off the heels of IMPETUS and shifted out taking CAT EYES (G Palmer) wider on the track.

MR RUMPOLE (A Erhart) raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

GONDORFF commenced to hang out from the 900m and did so for the remainder of the event resulting in D Tanti being unable to test that gelding at any stage in the straight. Mr S Hammersley representing Trainer B Guy was advised that GONDORFF would be required to trail to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination of GONDORFF failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Leaving the 500m BANN RUBY shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped IMPETUS. A short distance later IMPETUS shifted in contacting BANN RUBY.

SHE SHIRAZ was held up for clear running from near the 150m until the finishing line.
