Race 2 - App. M Speers was fined the sum of $100 for failing to fulfil his riding engagement on MONMAGIC.

Race 1: Creating A Better Environment (Maiden Plate) – 1400m.
1st – Sabi Sands 2nd – Easy Paris 3rd – Shuffle The Cash 4th – Nassavette

The start of this race was delayed due to SHUFFLE THE CASH (K Forrester) being re-saddled behind the barriers.

UMHLANGA ROCKS (G Baker) was slow to begin.

MANZIEDEAR (Ap. J Quinnell) raced wide throughout.

Near the 450m FOILISSIO (D Tanti) which was inclined to hang out shifted in and bumped the running rail and as a result became unbalanced.

SABI SANDS (C Whiteley) was momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

Near the 400m CHICKASHAY (L Cheshire) was momentarily held up and had to shift out across the heels of WATCHA POCO (App. T Chambers) in order to improve.

Jockey C Small (NASSAVETTE) was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts right out to the finishing line.

Race 2: Wanless Environmental Services (3yo Class 2 QTIS H’cap) – 1200m.
1st – Jovelon 2nd – Willyclang 3rd – Larry’s Boy 4th – Flecked Marble

COOL EDITION (D Tanti) was slow to begin.
JIM’S JOY began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped JOVELON (C Reith).

WILLYCLANG (D Griffin) over-raced during the early and middle stages of the event.

FLECKED MARBLE (C Whiteley) was inclined to over-race during the middle stages of the event.

WILLYCLANG and SMART ADVICE (App. J Quinnell) raced wide throughout the event.

Near the 800m CYCLONE LARRY (G Baker) raced up on to the heels of JOVELON and was steadied.

A post race veterinary examination of SMART ADVICE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 3: Wanless Recycled Products (4yo & Up Class 1 H’cap) – 1200m.
1st – Sounds Ready 2nd – Kayowed 3rd – The Noble House 4th – De Coubertin

Trainer D Campbell was fined the sum of $100 for failing to produce the Documents of Description for HOLY DOBBIN in this event and SOME HOPE – Race 6.

App. S Holcombe was fined the sum of $100 for failing to provide a Medical Certificate under the provisions of AR175(p).

Jockey D Barron was fined $100 for dual engagement.

DE COUBERTIN (S Thurlow) was hampered on jumping away between LADYSWOOD (C Reith) and THE NOBLE HOUSE (D Tanti) both of which shifted ground.

DISPURSER (L Cheshire) began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped HOLY DOBBIN (App. J Quinnell).

HAPPY SALIERI (App. M Speers) and PRIMEVAL DEMAND (App. L Rolls) raced wide throughout.

KAYOWED (T Treichel) raced in restricted room to the inside of THE NOBLE HOUSE from the 200m to 100m.

Race 4: Wanless Metal Recyclers (2yo H’cap) – 900m.
1st – Dancing Royal 2nd – Nannygai 3rd – Tamworth 4th – Sydney Or The Bush

Trainer S Jones was fined $100 for late notification of rider for MISS BRASCHI (K Purdy).

Trainer J Morrisey was fined the sum of $100 for presenting KLAKA to race in incorrect gear.

MISS BRASCHI (K Purdy) was very slow to begin.

SYDNEY OR THE BUSH (C Whiteley) was slow to begin.

TAMWORTH (App. J Quinnell) and KLAKA (App. L Rolls) bumped on jumping away.

TICKETABROAD (App. T Chambers) and LACHLAN’S LADY (L Cheshire) bumped on jumping away. A short distance later LACHLAN’S LADY and SILVERLINITY (App. M Speers) were tightened between TICKETABROAD and NANNYGAI (G Baker) both of which shifted ground.

Near the 600m KLAKA raced up on to the heels of TICKETABROAD, and in doing so shifted out across the heels of NELLY (D Green) and as a result TAMWORTH (App. J Quinnell) which was following had to be checked.

MISS BRASCHI which had a tendency to lay out had to be steadied near the 400m when momentarily tightened for room by TICKETABROAD (App. T Chambers) which shifted in when tiring. App. T Chambers was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Over the final 50m TICKETABROAD raced in restricted room between MISS BRASCHI and ROUGHOUSEROSIE (C Reith) which shifted in slightly.

When questioned regarding the performance of SYDNEY OR THE BUSH, Jockey C Whiteley stated that after being slowly away he was forced to occupy a rearward position and felt it was not in the gelding’s best interest to push forward wide rounding the home turn. He further stated that he placed his mount under pressure upon straightening and whilst SYDNEY OR THE BUSH had a tendency to lay in it found the line quite well. His explanation was noted.

Correct weight was delayed to allow the connections of the 2nd placegetter (NANNYGAI) to view the official photo finish.

Race 5: GC Bazaar (Class 6 H’cap) – 1400m.
1st – Snow Destiny 2nd – Key to Success 3rd – Line by Line 4th - Fissile

Trainer B Cavanough’s stable representative was advised that a fine of $100 was imposed for presenting KEY TO SUCCESS to race in incorrect gear.

It was reported that LITTLE IMP (T Treichel) lost its off fore plate in running.

CAN MAN suffered a bleeding attack during the event. Trainer T Whittington’s representative was advised that the gelding will incur a mandatory three month ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from CAN MAN.

Race 6: Smartskip (Class 4 H’cap) – 1000m.
1st – Dusty Zephyr 2nd – Rotarian 3rd – Some Hope 4th – August Fair

SNIP OF KINTYRE (D Green) slow to begin.

AUGUST FAIR (J Cook) was held up and unable to obtain clear running from 500m to entering the straight.

A post race veterinary examination of TEJADA (App. T Chambers) revealed the gelding to be suffering from heart arrhythmia. Trainer S Birney will be advised that she must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness including the results of an ECG prior to the gelding’s next race start.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of DUSTY ZEPHYR today, Trainer P Hammond stated that at its previous start the horse began awkwardly and raced wide whereas today DUSTY ZEPHYR began well and was able to take up its customary forward position. His explanation was noted.

Race 7: Wanless Wastecorp (Class 3 H’cap) – 1400m.
1st – Prayer Chamber 2nd – Bald Eagle 3rd – Marybrooke 4th – At The Roxy

MARYBROOKE (G Baker) was slow to begin.

Both NIMIE (App. J Quinnell) and PERFECTED (C Reith) began awkwardly.

For a short distance leaving the 800m AT THE ROXY (App. M Speers) commenced to over-race.

NIMIE raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of PRAYER CHAMBER, Trainer C Dawson stated that the gelding was able to dictate terms leading the event today and also felt that the rain affected track was to PRAYER CHAMBER’s advantage. His explanation was noted.

Race 8: The Troy Martin (Class 2 H’cap) – 1800m.
1st – Zubere 2nd – Logie 3rd – Lauren’s Halo 4th – Iza Comin’

Trainer S Boyd was fined the sum of $100 for late notification of rider for COSMIC CRUZ (App. L Rolls).

COMMANDER LOVE (D Tanti) was hampered on jumping away between ZUBERE (App. J Quinnell) and COSMIC CRUZ (App. L Rolls) which began awkwardly and shifted out.

COMMANDER LOVE over-raced during the early stages of the event.

Jockey J Cook (UNCLE JAN) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in approaching the 1600m when insufficiently clear of YICKADEE (App. J Wood) resulting in that runner having to be checked when tightened on to BLESS YOU DARBY (App. T Chambers). Jockey Cook was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 meetings to commence midnight 14/06/2008 and to expire midnight 28/06/2008.

IZA COMIN’ (C Whiteley) raced wide during the early and middle stages of the event.

Near the 400m COMMANDER LOVE improved up on to the heels of GREAT PORTENT (App. M Speers) and had to be steadied. COMMANDER LOVE was then held up on that horse’s heels for a short distance entering the straight.

Over the final 50m COMMANDER LOVE shifted in abruptly.

A post race veterinary examination of COMMANDER LOVE revealed the gelding had sustained abrasions to both hind fetlocks.

A post race veterinary examination of BLESS YOU DARBY failed to reveal any abnormalities.
