Race 1: Christmas In Vegas Book Now! (Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate) – 1200m.
1st – Treasure Cay 2nd – Rowland Princess 3rd – Jensway 4th – Swiss Gold
R Stephenson trainer of PASH FOR CASH which proved difficult to load was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly in relation to its barrier manners.
WOODHILL GIRL (N Thomas) was tightened for room on jumping away between BAYSIDE (App. M Speers) and KALINGA HOOD (T Treichel) both of which shifted ground.
COUNTRY KISS (C Whiteley) over-raced in the early stages of the event and near the 700m improved up on to the heels of ROWLAND PRINCESS (M Paget) and had to be steadied. HOT ‘N’ BOTHERED (D Green) which was following also had to be steadied as a consequence.
BAYSIDE and KALINGA HOOD raced wide for the majority of the event.
Approaching the 100m HOT ‘N’ BOTHERED shifted in under pressure.
Race 2: New Magic Millions Dining – Now Released! (Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate) – 1200m.
1st – Hahnemann 2nd – Sir Rossa 3rd – Chevaux Vapeur 4th - Nannygai
Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey K Purdy the rider of SIR ROSSA which finished 2nd against HAHNEMANN (T Pannell) being declared the winner alleging interference at the 1000m. After taking evidence from the riders involved, connections and after viewing the patrol footage, Stewards found that near the 1000m HAHNEMANN, in the Stewards’ opinion, sufficiently cleared SIR ROSSA and assumed a position forward of SIR ROSSA. A short distance later SIR ROSSA over-raced and had to be steadied off the heels of HAHNEMANN. Stewards therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight. At a subsequent enquiry Stewards found Jockey K Purdy guilty of a charge under AR165(3) for lodging an objection which in the Stewards’ opinion was deemed frivolous. Jockey K Purdy was fined the sum of $200.
ACCRINGTON (C Small) jumped away awkwardly.
SEMIFLASH (M Bennett) and WORKING (D Tanti) were slow to begin.
MR GORMSBY (T Treichel) had to be steadied shortly after the start when tightened for room between GO BIG (App. B Looker) and SIR ROSSA which shifted out.
Leaving the 1100m GO BIG (App. B Looker) which was attempting to assume a position to the inside of HAHNEMANN had to be steadied when tightened for room between HAHNEMANN which shifted in and SIR ROSSA which shifted out slightly. In the circumstances Stewards acknowledged a shift from the inside, nevertheless Jockey T Pannell (HAHNEMANN) was reprimanded for shifting in when not fully clear.
CHEVAUX VAPEUR (M Traecey) raced wide in the early stages of the event.
GIDDYUPJAYJAY (C Reith) over-raced in the early stages of the event.
Near the 600m SIR ROSSA over-raced up on to the heels of HAHNEMANN and had to be steadied.
Approaching the 400m SIR ROSSA shifted out around the heels of CHEVAUX VAPEUR to obtain clear running and as a result GIDDYUPJAYJAY which was following had to be steadied.
ACCRINGTON raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 3: Enjoy The Skyline This New Years Eve (QTIS Two-Years-Old H’cap) – 900m .
1st – Lucky Deluchi 2nd – Go Cam 3rd – Disputed 4th – Kingcup
LA VIE ESPRIT (N Day) was slow to begin.
SPINELLI (D Tanti) jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 800m GO CAM (App. J Piper) had to be steadied when tightened for room between MARINE GARDENS (M Paget) which shifted in and away from DISPUTED BID (R Wiggins) and KINGCUP which was taken out by LUCKY DELUCHI (T Treichel).
BEEN NAUGHTY (G Baker) raced wide throughout the event.
SPINELLI raced greenly throughout the event.
Race 4: Magic Millions Cocktail Party 7 January (Class 3 Plate) – 2200m.
1st – Ken And Kim 2nd – Thunder Beach 3rd – Iron Fist 4th - Overruling
IRON FIST (C Whiteley) was slow to begin.
THUNDER BEACH (N Day) and DONT CALL ME BRUCE (App. L Dittman) made contact on jumping away.
BEARHART LAD (M Paget) raced wide for the majority of the event.
A post-race veterinary examination of DONT CALL ME BRUCE revealed the gelding to have sustained lacerations to both hind legs.
Race 5: Experience The Skyline Mezzanine (Class 2 H’cap) – 1200m.
1st – Margy Magic 2nd – Kalkie Kane 3rd – Music Lover 4th – Perilous Princess
MISS TWIST (R Wiggins) bounded on jumping away and lost ground.
JEWEL VAULT (App. B Looker) were slow to begin.
SAVANA ROYALE (App. T Chambers) and MADAGASCAR (D Tanti) made contact on jumping away.
MADAGASCAR which raced wide during the event, had a tendency to lay in from a point leaving the 600m and approaching the 500m had to be steadied off the heels of SAVANA ROYALE.
It was reported that KALKIE KANE lost its off fore and near hind plates in running.
A post race veterinary examination of MADAGASCAR revealed the mare to be suffering from heat stress.
Race 6: The Pacific Hoseflex Must Go (Open H’cap) – 900m.
1st – Azzaland 2nd – Instructed 3rd – Kelly 4th – True Flyer
SIR MONASHEE (C Reith) which was fractious in the barriers was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
RED HOT PISTOL (R Mason) was slow to begin.
DUSTY ZEPHYR (App. C Isdale) jumped away awkwardly.
PRAYER CHAMBER (C Gilby) raced wide throughout the event.
Jockey C Gilby was reprimanded for using an excessive amount of whip on PRAYER CHAMBER when that horse was out of contention.
Race 7: Gold Coast Turf Club Kids Christmas Party – 20 December (Class 5 H’cap) – 1300m.
1st – Albert Cadabra 2nd – Framboise 3rd – Sir Teles 4th - Crackaway
SIR TELES ( R Wiggins) and EMERGENCE (App. C Isdale) were tightened for room on jumping away between ALBERT CADABRA (App. L Dittman) and ADJOURNMENT (B Payne) both of which shifted ground.
COURSE HE’S CANNY (D Barron) and MECHANICAL FAN (N Thomas) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Leaving the 500m EMERGENCE was momentarily tightened for room by ST MARTIN’S LANE (P Timbery) which shifted in and away from WASHED (C Reith).
App. C Isdale (EMERGENCE) dropped his whip at the 300m.
Race 8: Magic Millions Ladies Day – 3 January (Class 1 H’cap) – 1400m.
1st – Educated 2nd – My Request 3rd – My First Lady 4th - Canyouhearthebell
STEFENICK (T Pannell) jumped away awkwardly and had to be steadied shortly after the start when tightened for room between QUISATANA (App. M Speers) and MY REQUEST (C Reith).
AL HUSSAR (T Treichel) over-raced in the early stages of the event.
WITCHES CHASE (D Tanti) raced wide for the majority of the event.
CONQUER AND RULE (C Whiteley) laid in when placed under pressure in the straight resulting in that horse being unable to be fully tested by its rider.
Near the 200m SPEEDY SPIKE (R Wiggins) and DEALT A DIAMOND (M Paget) had to be steadied when tightened for room between TULLY TENOR (G Baker) and OKAVANGO FIRE (B Payne) both of which shifted ground. Both G Baker and B Payne were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
QUISATANA had difficulty obtaining clear running from a point leaving the 200m.
