MIDNIGHT FLIRTY (G Baker) was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race.

BAD ANGLE (A Merritt) jumped in at the start and made contact with MORANT’S VISION (C Small) causing it to become unbalanced. App. J Jones (GIDDYUPJAYJAY) was stood down by the Club Doctor after the running of this event. Stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards’ Race Day Summary.

Race 2: Campus Computers 3yo & Up Maiden Plate – 1400m.
1st - Exploding 2nd - Scaryheart 3rd - Delezio 4th – Casual Deal

A warning was issued to the connections of EXPLODING (D Griffin) which proved difficult to load.

ADVENTUROUS REG (App. E Kehoe) jumped away awkwardly.

When being restrained to take a trail behind TOM’S WISH (C Small) approaching the 900m, DELEZIO (C Whiteley) shifted out across the heels of TOM’S WISH and hampered EXPLODING forcing that gelding wider on the track.

EXPLODING raced 3 wide throughout the event.

Race 3: Totalvend QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1200m.
1st - Spinelli 2nd - Aliaison 3rd - Aletheia 4th - Twogundan

ALIAISON (K Forrester) was slow to begin.

Near the 700m ALETHEIA (C Whiteley) improved on to the heels of OUR CHARMAINE (App. J Letherby) and had to be steadied.

HOT SHOT HENRY (App. M Wood) raced wide throughout the event.

Race 4: Griffith University Bar & Function Centre Class 5 H’cap – 1200m.
1st – King Leonidas 2nd – Star of Minto 3rd – Final Crunch 4th - Getyourown

AWASE OUGI (L Herne) which was fractious in the barriers reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

Shortly after the start GETYOUROWN (G Baker) and KING LEONIDAS (D Tanti) came together as a result of being tightened between FINAL CRUNCH (T Pannell) which shifted in and LINEAR (D Peisley) which shifted out.

On straightening BLOW THE BUGLE (App. M Wood) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LINEAR which shifted in. A short distance later GETYOUROWN shifted out from behind the heels of STAR OF MINTO (D Green) making contact with FINAL CRUNCH which in turn shifted out making contact with LINEAR forcing that horse out on to KING LEONIDAS.

Jockey D Green (STAR OF MINTO) was cautioned for raising his whip above his shoulder whilst using a backhand motion approaching the finishing line.

Race 5: Griffith University Class 1 H’cap – 900m.
1st - Danardos 2nd - Trictaat 3rd - Bindat 4th - Sweed

The start of this race was delayed slightly when SWEED (A Merritt) became fractious in the barriers. The gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

MONCHING (D Griffin) jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start BINDAT (G Baker) shifted in and made contact with JUST CINDERS (App. M Wood).

On straightening ETHBAAL (T Pannell) and OUTSKI (D Green) both shifted ground slightly and made heavy contact. OUTSKI then shifted out as a result of the contact and hampered JUST CINDERS (App. M Wood). JUST CINDERS could not obtain clear running until after leaving the 200m.

TRICTAAT was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight.

MR SUGARAY suffered a bleeding attack during the event. The gelding will incur a mandatory three month ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from MR SUGARAY.

Race 6: Coffee Bug Class 2 H’cap – 1200m.
1st - Stoner 2nd – Revered Ruler 3rd – Our James 4th - Meld

LIGER (C Whiteley) and MYMYSHERONA (G Baker) were tightened shortly after the start between STONER (App. M Wood) which shifted in slightly and KOORONG AVENUE (B Hull) which shifted out.

On straightening STONER shifted out slightly and brushed SWEET SCIENCE (App. J Letherby).

When questioned regarding REVERED RULER being ridden back in the field today, Trainer D Bell said that he instructed Jockey D Tanti to assess the situation at the start as the gelding had a big weight and a wide barrier and he was of the view that there was significant pace in the race. He added that whilst REVERED RULER does race closer to the lead, it was resuming today over 1200m and he did not feel the gelding had the pace to match it with horses drawn to its inside. The explanation was noted.

Race 7: Catercare Australia Class 3 H’cap – 1400m.
1st - Oigles 2nd - Dispurser 3rd - Sniparama 4th - Aurtobe

VINTAGE MO reared as the start was effected almost dislodging Jockey K Forrester and as a result lost considerable ground.
