STOCKTON BIGHT also overraced in the early and middle stages.

CHUBBY had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight until after passing the 200m.
Over the concluding stages IZACAT (App M. Wood) shifted out abruptly resulting in SPINNING MIRA (B. Stewart) being inconvenienced and taken out onto the hind quarters of ICANDY (App A. Badger), which became unbalanced.

Race 2: A & L Windows Maiden H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Delezio 2nd – Foreign Lass 3rd – Weinstein 4th – Arabian Sea

FOREIGN LASS (D. Tanti) shifted in shortly after the start and made contact with CAPRICORN ROSE (App J. Wood).

COURAGE TATTOO (M. Squires) raced 3 wide without cover for a major part of the race.

DELEZIO (T. Treichel) pulled hard in the early stages.

CAPRICORN ROSE hung out after passing the 600m until shortly after entering the home straight. Trainer H. Page was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of CAPRICORN ROSE today.

B. Hull the rider of ARABIAN SEA pleaded guilty to a charge of careless under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out near the 350m when not clear of COURAGE TATTOO (M. Squires), resulting in COURAGE TATTOO having to be checked. B. Hull’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) meetings to commence midnight 3 November 2009 and expire midnight 14 November 2009. When assessing penalty stewards took into account B. Hull’s guilty plea.

Race 3: General Beton Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Really Wicked 2nd – Lonesome Tycoon 3rd – Minus One 4th - Grapple

LONESOME TYCOON slipped over prior to entering the mounting yard and was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon who reported a minor abrasion to the near side hip however, was satisfied that the mare was fit to start. LONESOME TYCOON was again examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon upon arrival at the barriers and passed fit to start.

PETESAKE (App M. Wood) was slow to begin.

Near the 400m GRAPPLE (K. Forrester) shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of BROLGA ROAD (D. Tanti), which became unbalanced.

App M. Wood was reminded of his obligations under the Rules when using his whip on PETESAKE over the concluding stages, when that runner was out of contention.

App M. Wood the rider of PETESAKE, which performed poorly, explained that the gelding never travelled well and failed to respond to his riding from the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

Race 4: Dr Lewinn’s 4YO & Up Maiden H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Noble Intent 2nd – Rockin’ Roxy 3rd – Go Chloe 4th - Silverlinity

Near the 800m VON HOVE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of FLAWLESS (C. Whiteley). VON HOVE then raced wide for the remainder of the race.

Stewards sought an explanation from C. Whiteley regarding the riding tactics he adopted on FLAWLESS in the early stages of the event. C. Whiteley explained that he was instructed to ride FLAWLESS in a forward position however, after beginning fairly the mare was inclined to shift in after travelling a short distance and after passing the 900m it was evident that he did not have sufficient speed to cross WILY TIM so he elected to restrain FLAWLESS behind WILY TIM and obtain cover. Stewards accepted his explanation.

Stewards questioned G. Baker regarding his riding of GO CHLOE rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. G. Baker explained that he was unable to ride GO CHLOE in his normal manner from the 600m as the mare was inclined to hang out and was very awkwardly placed on the heels of SILVERLINITY (App V. Schubert). G. Baker added that in the early stages of the home straight GO CHLOE was still inclined to lay out and rather than ride vigorously forward he elected to balance the mare before placing her under pressure after passing the 200m. Whilst stewards conceded that GO CHLOE was inclined to hang out they advised G. Baker that his vigour in the early part of the straight was of concern as there appeared to be ample room to the inside of SILVERLINITY to improve. Stewards were of the view that his riding had no material affect on the overall placings of the race and G. Baker was also reminded of his responsibility under AR140(b) to report to stewards as soon as practicable any condition or occurrence that may affect his mount’s running in the race. A post race veterinary examination of GO CHLOE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Schubert), which as a result had to be checked. B. Hull’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) meetings to commence midnight 3 November 2009 and expire midnight 17 November 2009. Taylor) when not clear of AGNES DREAM (App M. Wood), which had to be checked and RUN THE COURSE (D. Tanti), which was following having to be checked. App S. Bogenhuber’s guilty plea and her good racing riding record.

The start of this race was delayed when NONETHEWISER (App K. Gates) reared in the barriers and struck its head. Subsequently, NONETHEWISER was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

Near the 800m ORBITAL MISS (C. Reith) shifted in and away from FLYING TOPAZE (App M. Wood) and as a result tightened the running of DASH’S PRINCESS (G. Baker).

FLYING TOPAZE (App M. Wood) hung in under pressure over the final 250m.

Near the 200m THEBLACKHAND (D. Tanti) shifted out resulting in DANANGEL (T. Pannell) being hampered and taken out onto the hind quarters of DASH’S PRINCESS.

Inside the final 100m TOO CLUIE (App J. Wood) was obliged to alter course to the outside of the heels of FLYING TOPAZE to obtain clear running.

Approaching the winning post THEBLACKHAND shifted in and brushed ORBITAL MISS.

Trainer L. Kelly was questioned regarding the improved performance of THEBLACKHAND. L. Kelly explained that THEBLACKHAND has been forced to race wide over shorter trips at its 2 most recent starts and he was confident the gelding would run well today. L.
