SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Race 1: Mel Eggleston Racing Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate – 1200m.
1st – Zameliha 2nd – Makeba 3rd – Rockin’ Roxy 4th – Show Us A Win
A substantial delay was caused due to DEUX CHEVAUX (D Griffin) becoming cast between the barrier partitions. The remainder of the field was withdrawn from the barriers. DEUX CHEVAUX was declared a late withdrawal by order of the Stewards at 12.44 pm acting on veterinary advice. As some time elapsed and due to the extreme heat Stewards ordered that all runners be returned to the enclosure. Stewards interviewed all Trainers and advised that the race would still proceed at a later time after all runners underwent a veterinary examination and were passed fit to start. Trainers were given the opportunity to make submissions on starting their runners. Subsequently Stewards acceded to a request by Trainer T Bailey to withdraw LIGHTNING JO which was taken out at 1.32 pm. Following this announcement Stewards ordered that all bets wagered on this race be refunded and for fresh betting to commence. D Craven was not willing to fulfil his riding engagement on SUPERVOLITO and D Tanti was approved as the replacement rider. Trainer G Heinrich’s representative was advised that DEUX CHEVAUX must trial to the satisfaction of stewards and obtain a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to the filly’s next race start. Racing times were amended as follows:
Race 1 – 1.42 pm
Race 2 – 2.22 pm
Race 3 – 2.47 pm

MISS MADI which was kicked behind the barrier was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
OFTEN WRONG (C Whiteley) was tightened on jumping away between SHOW US A WIN (Ric McMahon) and BALLET BIRD (M Heagney) which shifted in.
BALLET BIRD raced wide throughout the event.
SHOW US A WIN over-raced during the middle stages of the event.
MISS MADI (M Radecker) and SUPERVOLITO (D Tanti) bumped near the 250m.
Near the 250m ROCKIN’ ROXY had difficulty obtaining clear running and shifted out around the heels of SHOW US A WIN in order to improve.
Race 2: Magic Millions Dining Packages Out Now Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate – 1200m.
1st - Hinkley 2nd - Eastline 3rd – Action Replay 4th – Smart ‘N’ Strong
SUNDAY ADVICE (K Pope) was slow to begin.
SMART ‘N’ STRONG (K Forrester) began awkwardly.
Near the 900m GAMBINO (M Heagney) and DANI CALIFORNIA (D Tanti) bumped.
HINKLEY (T Treichel) and GAME POWER (App. M Wood) both raced wide throughout the event.
GAMBINO and HINKLEY (T Treichel) both had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the straight.
FLICKERING STORM (C Whiteley) reported that his horse raced greenly throughout the event placing him at a disadvantage.
Race 3: Gangsters & Roarin’ Twenties Class 4 H’cap – 2200m.
1st – The Snicster 2nd – Mark One 3rd - Kaadeema 4th – Singing Sovereign
Near the 300m MARK ONE (D Griffin) shifted in and made heavy contact with THE SNICSTER (App. M Wood) on several occasions.
Race 4: Accent Press Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’cap – 1400m.
1st - Cape Leveque 2nd - Billum 3rd - Casting 4th - Ravendra
A short delay was caused when CAPE LEVEQUE became fractious in the barriers. The gelding was removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on CAPE LEVEQUE’s barrier manners.
ZURGE’S BOY (M Heagney) was tightened at the start between CASTING (D Griffin) and PRINCE OF THIEVES (T Treichel) which shifted in.
Shortly after the start LEROCKS (D Craven) was tightened between RAVENDRA (K Pope) and BILLUM (D Tanti) which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
COUNTY RAIDER (App. M Wood) raced wide during the early stages of the event.
Race 5: Old Time Photos Fillies and Mares Class 1 H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Lively Lillie 2nd - Polychrome 3rd - Pumplechook 4th – Legal Diva
Due to a misunderstanding Jockey D Griffin was double booked for this event. Jockey C Whiteley was subsequently replaced as the rider on ICE TEE.
ROWLAND PRINCESS (App. M Wood) and LUNAR LIFE (M Radecker) both over-raced during the early stages of the event.
Jockey M Radecker reported to Stewards that LUNAR LIFE which led by a clear margin in the middle stages did not react well to the rings that were fitted to the reins and as a result she was unable to restrain the filly.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ROWLAND PRINCESS, App. M Wood stated that the mare travelled well in a forward position however failed to respond to his riding shortly after entering the home straight. He added that ROWLAND PRINCESS races best on rain affected tracks and may not run out a strong 1400m. A post-race veterinary examination of ROWLAND PRINCESS failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
Race 6: June O’Neill 1928-2009 Memorial Class 3 H’cap – 1200m.
1st – Ice Tee 2nd - Izacat 3rd – Swirling Moss 4th – Climate Change
ICE TEE (C Whiteley) was tightened on jumping away between STENTORIAN (App. E Kehoe) and MARGUCY SPIRIT (M Squires) which shifted in.
WILLOWIE LAD (App. M Wood) and MARGUCY SPIRIT both over-raced during the early stages of the event.
MARGUCY SPIRIT and ICE TEE both raced wide throughout the event.
Near the 700m MARGUCY SPIRIT shifted in causing WILLOWIE LAD to be steadied and shifted out forcing ICE TEE wider on the track.
IZACAT (K Forrester) had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and rounding the home turn until entering the straight.
Over the concluding stages IZACAT shifted in when placed under pressure.
Race 7: Prime Thoroughbreds QTIS 3yo Class 2 H’cap – 1200m.
1st – Just a Piccolo 2nd - Freton 3rd - Lion 4th - Warrego
MIZ WINFREY (T Treichel) was a late withdrawal by order of the Stewards at 1.35 pm acting on veterinary advice.
Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey M Dorrington the rider of WARREGO which finished 4th against LION BEAUTY (R McMahon) being declared the 3rd placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the official patrol film it was established that LION BEAUTY did shift out over the concluding stages and brush WARREGO, Stewards were not satisfied that the degree of interference sustained to WARREGO warranted a reversal of the placings and the objection was dismissed.
COMZELITA (K Forrester) and LION BEAUTY (Ric Mahon) bumped on jumping away.
Near the 800m RED VINNIE (T O’Sullivan) was steadied when WARREGO shifted in when not fully clear. As a result of RED VINNIE being steadied, the colt shifted out forcing FRETON (K Pope) wider on the track. Jockey M Dorrington the rider of WARREGO was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
LION BEAUTY over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.
RED VINNE and WARREGO raced wide throughout the event.
Rounding the home turn MOONLIGHT HUSSEY (D Griffin) shifted out away from LION BEAUTY forcing PHARONIC (App. M Wood) and WARREGO wider on the track.
Jockey M Dorrington (WARREGO) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in leaving the 300m whilst riding his mount along with the whip when insufficiently clear of PHARONIC resulting in that runner having to check and lose its rightful running. Jockey Dorrington was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 meetings to commence midnight 05/12/2009 and to expire midnight 18/12/2009.
Jockey M Dorrington (WARREGO) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in leaving the 250m whilst riding his mount along with the whip when insufficiently clear of MOONLIGHT HUSSEY (D Griffin) resulting in that runner having to check and lose its rightful running. Jockey Dorrington was suspended from riding in races for a period of 10 meetings to commence midnight 05/12/2009 and to expire midnight 20/12/2009. Stewards ordered that this period of suspension be served concurrently with the earlier careless riding penalty incurred.
COMZELITA was held up for clear running from the 300m until over the concluding stages of the event.
Jockey M Dorrington (WARREGO) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip in a forehand manner in excess of 5 occasions prior to the 100m. Jockey Dorrington was fined the sum of $500.
Stewards sought an explanation from Rider M Radecker with regard to the riding tactics she adopted on DUEL SHOW which led today in contrast to its most recent starts. M Radecker explained that she was instructed to attempt to ride the gelding with cover however after beginning well she elected to ride forward on the gelding and take up the lead and attempt to settle DUEL SHOW. She added that DUEL SHOW is not suited when leading which in her view contributed to the gelding weakening over the final 200m.
Race 8: Cowboys & Bargirls Class 2 H’cap – 900m.
1st – Duckin’ Daisies 2nd - Bruleur 3rd – Danes Kid 4th – Mr Sugaray
Stewards considered an objection lodged by App. M Wood the rider of BRULEUR which finished 2nd against DUCKIN’ DAISIES (K Cunningham) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference near the 600m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the official patrol films Stewards were of the opinion that on entering the straight BRULEUR was held up behind DUCKIN’ DAISIES and at no stage established a run to the inside of that runner. At a subsequent enquiry App. M Wood was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR165(3) for making what they deemed a frivolous objection.
FALVALADY (C Whiteley) was slow to begin.
TINKLING (K Pope) dipped near the 850m and then commenced to race ungenerously shortly afterwards.
HELLUVA HURRY (M Squires) raced ungenerously during the middle stages of the event.
KICK OFF (K Forrester) raced wide throughout the event.
TINKLING was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.
BRULEUR was unable to obtain clear running in the home straight until after passing the 100m.
Over the concluding stages TINKLING was accidentally struck over the head by Jockey M Squires (HELLUVA HURRY).
