Race 1: Magic Millions Packages Book Now QTIS 600 2YO H’Cap – 900m
1st – Power Of Ed 2nd – She’s Our Secret 3rd – Carvelon 4th – With Friends

MISS WARNING (D. Griffin) began awkwardly and shifted out.

EN PISTE (K. Purdy) was slow into stride.

POWER OF ED (R. McMahon) shifted out shortly after the start and made contact with LEICA ROLLER (App A. Butler).

EN PISTE raced greenly during the early stages.

POWER OF ED dipped near the 450m.

Approaching the 400m POWER OF ED shifted out in order to improve and in doing so bumped the hind quarters of LEICA ROLLER, forcing LEICA ROLLER to become unbalanced.


Race 2: Caelli Formwork Maiden Plate – 1000m
1st – Shady Outfit 2nd – Mr Shadow Boxer 3rd – Aletheia 4th – Holding The Fort

The start of this race was delayed due to MISS BURGER proving difficult to load. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on MISS BURGER regarding it’s barrier manners.
Correct weight was delayed to allow T. Pannell the rider of second placegetter MR SHADOW BOXER to view the film to see if he had grounds to lodge a protest against R. Hurley the rider of the winner SHADY OUTFIT. After viewing the film T. Pannell did not wish to proceed and stewards therefore declared correct weight.

ROCK DA HOUSE (D. Green) began awkwardly and shifted in making contact with HOLDING THE FORT (K. Forrester).

Shortly after the start GUNSHIP (App M. Wood) was tightened for room between SHADY OUTFIT (R. Hurley) and MISS BURGER (R. McMahon).

STAR VALERIE (App J. Daley) and KING OF THE STARS (App A. Butler) were tightened on jumping away between MR SHADOW BOXER (T. Pannell) and RENNIE (D. Barron), which shifted in. As a result of this incident App A. Butler the rider of KING OF THE STARS lost the use of his irons placing him at a significant disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

Near the 800m KING OF THE STARS shifted out despite the efforts of its rider making heavy contact with RENNIE, causing RENNIE to be checked.

As a further consequence of App Butler losing his irons KING OF THE STARS was again checked near the 600m when awkwardly placed between ALETHEIA (D. Griffin) and SHADY OUTFIT. KING OF THE STARS took no competitive part in the race from this point.

Near the 200m SHADY OUTFIT shifted in slightly inconveniencing MR SHADOW BOXER. A short distance later MR SHADOW BOXER commenced to lay out.

MISS BURGER raced wide throughout the event.


Race 3: Raine & Horne Nerang/Carrara Maiden H’Cap – 1300m
1st – Action Replay 2nd – Eastline 3rd – Burns Bright 4th – Lord Bellanskey

ENCOSTAS GIFT (K. Purdy) knuckled on jumping away.

RIVIERA CLAY (App A. Butler) and RUN JAKE RUN (S. Drake) were both slow into stride.

Near the 1000m NOBLESSE OBLIGE (D. Green) became cramped for room between ENCOSTAS GIFT and JUSTALON (M. Squires).

Rounding the 800m turn ENCOSTAS GIFT became awkward on the heels of BURNS DELIGHT (A. Erhart) and had to be steadied.

S. Drake the rider of RUN JAKE RUN was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that at a point near the 400m she attempted to take a run to the inside of NOBLESSE OBLIGE (D. Green) where insufficient racing room existed resulting in NOBLESSE OBLIGE being checked. S. Drake’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence Wednesday 23 December 2009 and expire midnight 2 January 2010.

K. Purdy the rider of ENCOSTAS GIFT was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 400m she permitted her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of RUN JAKE RUN resulting in that horse shifting out further tightening the ground of NOBLESSE OBLIGE. K. Purdy’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 meetings to commence midnight Sunday 20 December 2009 and expire midnight 31 December 2009.

Near the 250m RUN JAKE RUN shifted out forcing JUSTALON, ENCOSTAS GIFT and RIVIERA CLAY all wider on the track.

JUSTALON raced wide throughout.

A post race veterinary examination of ENCOSTAS GIFT failed to reveal any abnormality.

A post race veterinary examination of SIRBILL, which weakened noticeably in the home straight, revealed the gelding to be showing a poor recovery rate. Trainer T. Whittington was advised that a veterinary certificate of clearance must be produced before the gelding again races.



Race 4: Novapress Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Sigurdardottir 2nd – Legal Diva 3rd – Miss Trish 4th – Piccali

As C. Gilby was indisposed due to transport difficulties stewards permitted K. Forrester to be substituted as the rider of RIO MAGIC.

ELLA DANIELA which was fractious in the barriers was declared a late scratching at 2.42 pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. Prior to the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on ELLA DANIELA were ordered to be refunded. All winning bets were ordered to be paid less 35 cents in the dollar for a win and 22 cents for a place on the face value of the ticket. Trainer T. Bailey’s representative was advised that 2 further barrier certificates must be obtained before ELLA DANIELA again races.

MISS TRISH (R. Wiggins) and RIO MAGIC (K. Forrester) bumped on jumping away.

SIGURDARDOTTIR (App A. Butler) and SPANGLISH (App T. Huxham) bumped on jumping away.

Stewards intend to question App T. Huxham the rider of SPANGLISH in regards to the tactics adopted in the home straight.



Race 5: Measured Up Builders Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Giorgio 2nd – Lake George 3rd – Hinkley 4th - Borayme

ANOTHER SEQUALO (App A. Butler) was slow to begin.

ROUGH DANCE (R. Wiggins) overraced in the early stages.




Race 6: Quantum Trading Class 1 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Will Impress 2nd – County Raider 3rd – Dalai 4th – Rock Rules

DALAI (N. Evans), ENTERPRISE STAR (R. McMahon) and WAY TOO HOT (C. Whiteley) were all slow to begin.

COUNTY RAIDER (D. Tanti) and PARIS LABEL (App A. Butler) raced wide in the early stages.

DALAI was held up for clear running from entering the straight until near the 200m.


Race 7: Powabeam Class 5 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Kisani 2nd – Slugsbrothernugget 3rd – Izacat 4th - Misswan

ICE TEE (T. Pannell) was slow to begin.

Rounding the home turn KISANI (App M. Wood) shifted out to improve and in doing so forced IZACAT (C. Whiteley) wider on the track.

K. Forrester the rider of TENFOLD was fined the sum of $100.00 under AR144 for failing to weigh in as 5th placegetter when required to do so.


Race 8: Caelli Tower Crane Class 3 Plate – 1000m
1st – Licence To Steal 2nd – Wild Wilbur 3rd – Bruleur 4th – Mr Punkrocker

HINDSIGHT (App A. Butler) was slow into stride.

App M. Wood the rider of BROOKIE BABE was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in near the 900m when insufficiently clear of MR PUNKROCKER (R. Wiggins) forcing that runner in onto FRISCO LIGHTS (D. Barron), resulting in FRISCO LIGHTS being checked. App M. Wood’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence midnight Sunday 20 December 2009 and to expire midnight Friday 1 January 2010. In this incident WILD WILBUR (A. Nicholls), which was following, was hampered and had to be steadied..

MR PUNKROCKER (R. Wiggins) commenced to lay out from leaving the 800m until leaving the 400m.

ROTARIAN (B. Hull) raced wide throughout the event.

A. Nicholls the rider of WILD WILBUR pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out near the 350m when insufficiently clear of FRISCO LIGHTS (D. Barron) resulting in that horse being forced out onto the hind quarters of BROOKIE BABE (App M. Wood), which resulted in FRISCO LIGHTS being checked. A. Nicholls’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence immediately and to expire midnight Saturday 2 January 2010.

Jockey A. Nicholls pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A5(a)(i) for striking WILD WILBUR with the whip on consecutive strides prior to the 100m. A. Nicholls’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 1 week. A. Nicholls pleaded guilty to a further charge under AR137A5(a)(ii) in that he struck WILD WILBUR with the whip on more than the permitted number of times prior to the 100m. A. Nicholls’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 1 week. Stewards ordered that these suspensions be served concurrently however, to take effect at the expiration of the careless riding suspension. A. Nicholls is eligible to resume race riding on 10 January 2010.
