Race 1: Gold Coast Stakes March 20 Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate – 1300m.
1st – Luckily 2nd – Blonde’n’Dangerous 3rd – M’Lady Scarlett 4th – Swingwing
LADY KILKENNY (App. S Bogenhuber) jumped very awkwardly and lost considerable ground.
BLONDE’N’DANGEROUS (S Galloway) was slow to begin.
SWINGWING (B Pengelly) jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 300m Jockey S Galloway rider of BLONDE’N’DANGEROUS dropped his whip.
Jockey D Griffin rider of CRYSCLANG was reprimanded for failing to weigh in as 5th placegetter.
Race 2: Bundaberg Rum & Cola Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate – 1300m.
1st - Emid 2nd - Brascan 3rd - Aequitas 4th – Mountain of Dreams
ALLAMANDA LAD (D Griffin) jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped PERSIAN STORY (App. C Priest). A short distance later WHITE WITH TWO (K Wharton) shifted in abruptly taking BRASCAN (M Palmer) in on to CAITLIN SMILE (K Purdy) which was taken in further on to PERSIAN STORY. All these runners were hampered as a result.
CAITLIN SMILE over-raced in the early stages and approaching the 900m shifted out to avoid the heels of MOUNTAIN OF DREAMS (T Treichel) momentarily inconveniencing EMID (D Green).
Approaching and rounding the home turn BRASCAN was held up and unable to improve.
K Wharton the rider of WHITE WITH TWO which performed below market expectations explained that the gelding travelled well until placed under pressure after passing the 600m and in his view failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination of WHITE WITH TWO failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
Race 3: Johnnie Walker Black Label Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Sir Roseland 2nd - Motive 3rd – Warando Street 4th – Bionic Rock
CLEAR DROP (App. K Mizobe), WARANDO STREET (App. B Wallace) and SIR ROSELAND (B Pengelly) were slow to begin.
Inside the final 100m CLEAR DROP (App. K Mizobe) improved up on to the heels of JABIRU (D Griffin) which was compounding badly and shifted in abruptly. App. Mizobe was advised to exercise greater care in future.
D Griffin the rider of JABIRU explained on return to scale that the gelding travelled well, however, near the 400m faltered and became unbalanced and never felt comfortable in its action for the remainder of the race. A post-race veterinary examination of JABIRU revealed no significant findings.
Race 4: Slate Blended Bourbon Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’cap – 1400m.
1st – Aunt Rock 2nd – Ishi Classic 3rd - Backinfive 4th – Baby Rock
BELLA SEA was declared a late withdrawal at 11.00 am due to transportation difficulties.
MAMBO PRINCESS (T Treichel) and BACKINFIVE (App. M Wood) bumped at the start. After travelling a short distance OLYMPIC GOLD (App. B Wallace) and LEGALLY OURS (M Palmer) were both inconvenienced when BACKINFIVE shifted out slightly.
Approaching and passing the 400m BACKINFIVE and MAMBO PRINCESS bumped on a number of occasions when BACKINFIVE was attempting to shift wider on the track.
App. A Badger rider of BABY ROCK dropped her whip near the 300m.
After passing the 200m BACKINFIVE hung in under pressure.
Race 5: Smirnoff No. 21 Vodka QTIS 3YO Maiden H’cap – 900m.
1st – Brave Queen 2nd - Dundigin 3rd – Seek and Find 4th – Lord Dubai
MINI MAGIC was declared a late withdrawal at 11.00 am due to transportation difficulties.
HOPEFUL HORNET (App. A Badger) was slow to begin.
SEQRETARY (M Palmer) jumped awkwardly and shifted out making contact with ISA LEI (S Galloway).
After being a little slow to begin, SEEK AND FIND (B Pengelly) was further hampered shortly after the start by FROSTINOSS (D Green) which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Shortly after entering the home straight SEEK AND FIND shifted out around the heels of FROSTINOSS to improve and made contact with SEQRETARY which was taken out on to TSARAFY (T Treichel) which was inconvenienced. Jockey B Pengelly (SEEK AND FIND) was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.
FROSTINOSS shifted in abruptly under pressure over the concluding stages and as a result Jockey D Green was unable to ride that filly out in his normal manner.
SEQRETARY (M Palmer) bled for the first time during the event. The filly will incur a mandatory 3 month ban from racing and will be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward before being permitted to race again. A swab sample was taken from SEQRETARY.
Race 6: Bundaberg Rum Reserve Label Class 2 H’cap – 1200m.
1st - Asyoucando 2nd – Northern Apache 3rd – Star of Ombra 4th – Go Gerry
Trainer J Wallace was fined the sum of $100 for the late rider notification of Jockey C Whiteley on NORTHERN APACHE.
After jumping awkwardly GO GERRY (D Tanti) was tightened for room shortly after the start between ASYOUCANDO (App. A Butler) and BLUCHELLE (T Treichel) which shifted in.
HAWKEYE PIERCE (App. M Wood) was momentarily tightened for room leaving the 900m by EDITAVE (D Griffin). As a result HAWKEYE PIERCE shifted in and bumped REASSURING (K Wharton).
App. M Wood advised that HAWKEYE PIERCE failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination of HAWKEYE PIERCE revealed no obvious abnormalities.
Race 7: Bundaberg Red – Extra Smooth Rum Class 6 H’cap – 900m.
1st – Warrior Within 2nd - Bruleur 3rd – Cole Trickle 4th - Buckmoore

Race 8: Baileys With a Hint of Coffee Class 3 Plate – 1800m.
1st - Eastline 2nd - Television 3rd – Cape Leveque 4th – Silver Whisper
EASTLINE (D Griffin) shifted out shortly after the start and bumped TELEVISION (S Galloway).
ICANWIN (App. A Badger) hung in for a major part of the race. Rounding the home turn when App. A Badger attempted to shift ICANWIN wider on the track the horse again hung in and proved difficult to ride.
