Race 1: Quay Solutions Australia 3YO & Up Maiden H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Primary Colour 2nd – Sophies Special 3rd – Chinrub 4th – Angel Gal
A veterinary examination of HAWK’S PRIDE (D. Green), which reared over in the saddling enclosure, cleared the gelding to race.
A veterinary examination of SCARY CANARY (App M. Hellyer) behind the barrier cleared the gelding to race.
DON’T HOLD BACK (App A. Butler) and SOPHIES SPECIAL (M. Radecker) came together just after the start.
KNIGHT’S QUEST (P. Hammersley), HAWKS PRIDE and HOCK THE LOT (K. Fujii) were all a little slow to jump.
Near the 900m DYLANJAMES (App S. Holcombe) commenced to hang out and shifted out despite the efforts of its rider, causing KNIGHT’S QUEST and HOCK THE LOT to be checked and taken wider on the track. DYLANJAMES continued to hang out for the remainder of the race and made the home turn wide. Trainer J. Holcombe was advised that the horse would be required to trial satisfactorily before racing again. As a result of DYLANJAMES hanging it’s saddle rolled to the off side, placing its rider App S. Holcombe at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. A post race veterinary examination of DYLANJAMES revealed no abnormalities.
RHIDAN’S CHANT (App M. Wood) was caught wide on the first turn and raced wide for the majority of the event.
Rounding the home turn DON’T HOLD BACK was inclined to lay out and made contact with PRIMARY COLOUR (D. Griffin).
On straightening RAGING FORTIES (N. Seymour) was disappointed for a run between CHIRUB (A. Pattillo) and DON’T HOLD BACK where there was insufficient room.
A short distance later DON’T HOLD BACK then had to be steadied when the horse appeared reluctant to hold its position inside PRIMARY COLOUR, which shifted in slightly and CHINRUB, which shifted out.

TIT TAT TOOEE (M. Radecker) had to be checked and lost ground at the start as a result of being tightened between CAMELIA, which shifted in and SPRING VIOLET (App L. Rolls), which shifted out.
PUBLIC PROSECUTOR (D. Barron) jumped away awkwardly.
After leaving the 1200m ALTAI WARRIOR (C. Whiteley) commenced to overrace and made the 900m turn awkwardly.

Race 3: Sinotrans CAX Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m

At the start LUNAR LIFE (App A. Butler), EMID (App M. Wood) and STUD MUFFIN (D. Van Bekkum) were all tightened between SIR MOSSMAN (D. Barron), which jumped away awkwardly and shifted in and ROCK RULES (J. Bowditch), which jumped outwards.
SMIRNOFF LASS (App L. Rolls) was slow to jump.
DOWN ANOTHER TRACK (D. Griffin) jumped away awkwardly.
App M. Hellyer the rider of SHANAMIN was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in and away from ROCK RULES near the 1200m and as a result ZIAZAN (P. Hammersley), which was racing to the inside, had to be steadied.
D. Van Bekkum the rider of STUD MUFFIN was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting her mount to shift in near the 1200m when insufficiently clear of EMID, which resulted in that horse being checked and taken in making contact with LUNAR LIFE, causing that horse to be inconvenienced. D. Van Bekkum’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings to commence midnight 6 June 2010 and expire midnight 18 June 2010.
For some distance rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight EMID, which had a tendency to lay in, was held up for clear running.
LUNAR LIFE raced wide throughout the event.
When questioned as to the disappointing performance of LARAMIE jockey C. Whiteley explained that the connections had instructed him to ride the horse aggressively to obtain a forward position. He added that the horse did not finish the race off over the concluding stages and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination of LARAMIE revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken. Stable representative Mr. Nielson was advised that LARAMIE would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
A post race veterinary examination of TOO GOOD, which compounded, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
A post race veterinary examination of DOWN ANOTHER TRACK revealed the horse had blood present in one nostril. In accordance with the provisions of AR53A(7) trainer T. Bailey was advised that DOWN ANOTHER TRACK would be required to compete in a 1000m gallop before racing again.

D/Heat 1st – Fly With Me & The Annihilator 2nd – Falls Creek 3rd – Stratercaster 4th – Magic Symphony
Correct weight was delayed at the request of J. Keating the rider of THE ANNIHILATOR to view the photo finish.
Near the 900m DUCKIN’ DAISIES (N. Thomas), when being steadied became unbalanced when avoiding the heels of FLY WITH ME (J. Bowditch), which shifted in when not fully clear. J. Bowditch the rider of FLY WITH ME was issued with a reprimand and advised to ensure he was fully clear when shifting ground.
STRATERCASTER (D. Griffin) raced wide throughout the event.
When questioned as to the riding tactics on STRATERCASTER jockey D. Griffin stated that he had been instructed by trainer R. Lipp to endeavour to settle the horse today as he did not wish the horse to be ridden to the lead as the horse had drawn wide and there was pace on the inside. Trainer R. Lipp’s representative Ms Runman indicated that from the wide barrier today it was anticipated that the horse would not have sufficient pace to cross horses drawn inside and accordingly, D. Griffin was instructed to allow the horse to settle and travel where comfortable rather than bustle it to lead. She added that whilst the horse did lead it was on a synthetic surface and on that occasion it had been intended the horse be ridden with a sit.
When questioned as to the riding tactics adopted on FOMAL PRINCESS trainer T. Bailey advised he had instructed jockey K. Fujii to endeavour to take a trail as he was of the opinion horses drawn outside of FOMAL PRINCESS were of superior pace.
When questioned as to his riding tactics on DUCKIN’ DAISIES jockey N. Thomas stated that trainer P. Cunningham had instructed him to endeavour to take a trail as they were of the opinion the horse was suspect at the distance of today’s race.Jocky N Thomas added that after being eased to avoid FLY WITH ME's Hells DUCKIN' DAISIES then over raced' which in his opinion resulted in the horse not finishing the race off to day. Trainer P. Cunningham confirmed the instructions and indicated that whilst the horse had led previously, it had not led when stepped up in distance. Stewards noted their explanations.
When questioned as to FLY WITH ME leading today jockey J. Bowditch explained that he was surprised the horse had shown pace however, as other runners had not contested the lead his mount was able to assume the lead relatively easily. He added that the horse had been freshened up since its last start, which had contributed to its performance.
Race 5: Clarey & Stringer Cup Class 2 H’Cap - 1800m
1st – Glorietta 2nd – Hollywood And Vine 3rd – Zaman 4th – Go Gerry
Trainer H. Page indicated to stewards prior to the race that as OUR OJAY has refused to settle in its races previously when ridden forward she would instruct D. Barron to ride the horse back in the field in an effort to have the horse settle.

VODISSA (A. Pattillo) commenced to overrace rounding the first turn and continued to overrace in the middle stages of the event.
When questioned as to the performance of PICCALI and also the riding tactics in the early stages C. Whiteley explained that after beginning only fairly the horse was caught wide and he could not gain a position closer to the rails and as a consequence he was obliged to ease his mount to the rear of the field. C. Whiteley added that after settling back in the field the horse did not travel well and was under pressure from the 800m. Trainer’s representative Mrs Whittington advised Mr T. Whittington was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance and undertook to have pathology tests carried out and would advise stewards of the results. A veterinary examination of PICCALI revealed no abnormalities.

Near the 1100m REASSURING and CROSS TOWN TRAFFIC (App M. Wood) had to be checked when tightened for room by CANNY ROCK, which was inclined to shift outwards and REPO (N. Seymour), which shifted in away from RETROSPECT (A. Pattillo), which had to be steadied when SHOES (D. Griffin) crossed when not fully clear. Whilst stewards were satisfied there were a number of factors which had contributed to the tightening D. Griffin was reminded of his obligations to be 2 lengths clear when shifting ground in future.
STALLONE (C. Whiteley) was inclined to overrace in the early stages of the event.
Near the 900m REASSURING shifted in and made heavy contact with CANNY ROCK, resulting in App A. Butler the rider of CANNY ROCK becoming unbalanced.
SHOES when taking up a position outside the leader was inclined to overrace for some distance in the middle stages.
Rounding the home turn PROMONTORY (J. Keating) shifted out from behind the leader and made heavy contact with SHOES, forcing that horse a little wider on the track. As a result of this incident PROMONTORY then became unbalanced and had to be steadied.
After straightening REFINANCE (App B. Looker) attempted to take a run between ACTION REPLAY (App M. Palmer) and PROMONTORY and in doing so made contact with ACTION REPLAY and became unbalanced. As a result of REFINANCE becoming unbalanced it was noted that when attempting a run in restricted room the horse initially became unbalanced as a result of contact with ACTION REPLAY and then had to be checked to avoid the heels of PROMONTORY, which shifted out slightly. After taking into account all the circumstances J. Keating the rider of REFINANCE was cautioned for attempting to force a run inside of SHOES where there was insufficient room.
Approaching the 200m K. Fujii the rider of LIVELY LILLIE accidentally dropped his whip.
After leaving the 200m REFINANCE, which had been held up for clear running, was cramped for room between PRIMEVAL DEMAND (B. Pengelly) and ACTION REPLAY (App M. Palmer), which shifted in. Stewards will interview App M Palmer at a later date.

Speers stated that he had been instructed to position the horse midfield however, the horse never travelled well today and was under pressure from the 600m. Trainer’s representative Mrs S. Moore advised she would have trainer Mr. B. Baldwin monitor the horse and advise stewards of anything that may have had an effect on the horse’s performance. A post race veterinary examination of ARCTIC ECHO revealed no abnormalities.

NAADJI (J. Bowditch), INTERTHEBLACK (App B. Looker), SATULA (D. Barron), GAZE ON (B. Pengelly) and EDDIE RAPIDO (App E. Kehoe) were all slow to jump.
Rounding the home turn EMBANK (App M. Hellyer) shifted out from behind the heels of EDDIE RAPIDO (App E. Kehoe) to improve, forcing SATULA wider on the track.

ROCK MY ROOF (M. Radecker), after initially being loaded, backed out and then proved difficult to load. Connections were advised that a warning would be issued regarding the horse’s barrier manners.
TULLY ENDEVOUR (App M. Wood) was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start SEETHING DUCK (B. Pengelly) and MEASURED (App A. Butler), when being eased, were hampered by RADETSKY (D. Griffin), which was inclined to lay in.
Near the 1100m GOLDFINGER (J. Bowditch), TRISKELE (K. Fujii) and RADETSKY all had to be checked when tightened between ROCK MY ROOF (M. Radecker), which had a tendency to lay out and MARTHA SAY (D. Barron), which hung in despite the efforts of its rider. MARTHA SAY then continued to race ungenerously and made the first turn extremely wide on the track. Trainer A. Moir was advised that MARTHA SAY would be required to barrier trial before racing again.
GOLDFINGER was held up rounding the home turn.
MIO CAVALLO (C. Whiteley) was held up for some distance rounding the home turn and was unable to obtain clear running until after the 200m. LA BELLA LUISA (N Seymour) was also held up and unable to obtain clear running until the latter stages of the race.
RADETSKY, ROCK MY ROOF and MARTH SAY all raced wide throughout.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of RADETSKY jockey D. Griffin stated that the connections had instructed him to ride the horse forward however, from the wide barrier today he was caught wide and was then obliged to race wide for the majority of the race before tiring. Trainer J. Morrisey agreed that from the wide barrier the horse did not have the necessary pace and subsequently was obliged to race wide. A post race veterinary examination of RADETSKY revealed no abnormalities.
Following the running of this event stewards interviewed part owner of FIELDING Mr K. Cooke to ascertain the person responsible for the horse today in the absence of trainer G. Reid.
