SUPPLEMENTARY:
From BRC Meeting at Doomben - Thursday 18 November 2010 - Race 7
Stewards continued the inquiry into the reason for CANADIAN JOY (App S Bogenhuber) being tightened for room and losing its rightful position when racing between ISAIDIAM (M Heagney) and SPLENDID HAYIL (J Taylor) which was taken in by BRIGADOON JACK (P Hammersley) which in turn was taken in by JYPSIERE (App J Wood) near the 850m point. At the inquiry on the day Stewards charged App Wood with a contravention of AR137(a) for being careless at that point, however at the request of App Wood, Stewards adjourned the inquiry to enable the Apprentice’s master, Steele Ryan, to attend the inquiry.
After taking further evidence Stewards found App Wood guilty of the charge and his licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 meetings to commence at midnight, Sunday 21 November and to expire at midnight on Wednesday 1 December 2010.

Trainer T Bailey advised Stewards that tests carried out on IGUAZU FALLS today reveal the horse to have a Grade 4 Roaring condition and as such the mare will now be retired to stud.

Race 1: Sotera Fillies and Mares Class 3 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Jennabee 2nd – Pumplechook 3rd – Flinders City 4th – Calamine
FLINDERS CITY (D Tanti) and LAST LOVE (App B Wallace) both began awkwardly.
Approaching the 800m FLINDERS CITY had to be steadied off the heels of CALAMINE (G Lynch) which shifted in.
Approaching the finish of the event LAST LOVE had to be steadied when disappointed for a run to the inside of CALAMINE.
Race 2: Diagno Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Big Chance 2nd – Bossboss 3rd – Magic Turbo 4th – Choisi L’un
CHOISI L’UN (K Fujii) began awkwardly.
SMART ‘N’ STRONG (App B Looker) which began awkwardly shifted in making contact with STORM PARTY (D Tanti) which was a little slow to begin.
BIG CHANCE (D Griffin) raced ungenerously and threw its head in the air in the early stages of the event.
RIVARDE (JP Stanley) was inclined to hang out rounding the 800m turn.
TICKLE ME ALMO (D Barron), RIVARDE and WALTZ WITH YOU (C Whiteley) all raced wide throughout the event.
Approaching the 300m STORM PARTY had to be steadied off the heels of CHOISI L’UN (K Fujii) which shifted out to improve. Jockey K Fujii was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
Race 3: Pert & Associates Fillies and Mares Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Dubai Prospect 2nd – Little White Horse 3rd – Devil’s Angel 4th – Deb’s Choice
Stewards questioned App B Looker and Trainer M Eggleston regarding the reason for App Looker being duly engaged on DUBAI PROSPECT and IRISH OYSTER. After considering the explanations, Stewards were of the opinion there were extenuating circumstances and took no further action in the matter.
MISS VITALITY (JP Stanley), MISS NAPOLLI (K Fujii), MAM’SELLE ESPRIT (App B Wallace) and SOL D’ORO (App T Harrison) were slow to begin.
QUASERA (B Hull) began awkwardly and shifted out making contact with IRISH OYSTER (D Tanti).
Leaving the 800m MAM’SELLE ESPRIT shifted in making contact with MISS NAPOLLI causing that filly to become unbalanced. App B Wallace the rider of MAM’SELLE ESPRIT was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
LITTLE WHITE HORSE (D Griffin) and ISA LEI (App P Schmidt) raced wide throughout the event.
SOL D’ORO made contact with the running rail on a number of occasions between the 700m and 600m.
DIAMANTINA GIRL (D Barron) had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn.
Approaching the 300m DEVIL’S ANGEL (K Banks) attempted to shift out from behind DEB’S CHOICE (G Lynch) to improve and in doing so made heavy contact with IRISH OYSTER.
MISS VITALITY had a tendency to lay out when placed under pressure over the final 200m which prevented Jockey Stanley from being able to fully test the mare.
Race 4: GMP Management Class 2 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Haslington 2nd – Cinquacasino 3rd – Bail Me Out 4th – Kasfuego & Lord Theodore (dead heat)
The connections of IRON RED (D Tanti) advised Stewards of their intention to ride the gelding a little quieter in the early stages than at its previous start. The horse was ridden accordingly.
WARANDO STREET (App B Wallace) was slow to begin.
Race 5: Hutchinson Builders Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Essence’nRestraint 2nd – Preacher Boy 3rd – Master Peace 4th – Rhodes To Glory
MORONGLA (N Thomas) was inspected at the barriers by the veterinary surgeon after the rider expressed concern with the horse’s action, however, after examination MORONGLA was cleared to start.
BON BROOK (App T Harrison) was slow to begin.
Near the 800m BON BROOK improved up on to the heels of MASTER PEACE (K Fujii) and had to be steadied.
INDUSTRIALISM (App B Wallace) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 6: EMF Griffith Fillies and Mares Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Elle Majesty 2nd – Geneva Gold 3rd – Reset and Go 4th – Miss Carnell
CHINSKY (K Forrester) began awkwardly and shifted in making contact with MISS CARNELL (G Lynch).
SMART OF COURSE (K Banks) raced wide throughout the event.
AUSSIE GAL (D Barron) tired badly over the last 500m of the event.
RESET AND GO (D Tanti) was disappointed for a run leaving the 50m between ELLE MAJESTY (D Griffin) and GENEVA GOLD (App. T Harrison) which resulted in RESET AND GO being unable to obtain clear running to the finish.
A post-race veterinary examination of GABARLIS GIRL (App B Looker) which tired to finish at the rear of the field revealed the mare to have sustained a laceration to its near hind leg as a result of being galloped on.
Race 7: Marchese Partners QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1400m
1st – Omnia Munda Mundis 2nd – Gypsy Heart 3rd – Pengunny Frog 4th – Lady Innocent
Stewards acceded to the request of Trainer L Birchley to scratch LAST COOKIE (App P Schmidt) at 3.00 pm due to the track downgrade. LAST COOKIE will now incur a ‘slow’ track ban.
PENGUNNY FROG (D Griffin) was slow to begin.
GYPSY HEART (S Galloway) and OLD RAWHIDE (K Fujii) came together and bumped on jumping away.
CAMELIA (App B Wallace) was checked shortly after jumping away between LADY INNOCENT (D Tanti) and HIDDEN DECISION (N Thomas) which shifted in abruptly.
OLD RAWHIDE, GHIACCIO (G Lynch) and DELLASERA (D Barron) raced wide throughout the event
Leaving the 800m GYPSY HEART shifted out to a trailing 3 wide position which resulted in DELLASERA being forced wider on the track.
Race 8: Bat Out Of Hell Raceday – January 1 Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 3 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Gunner Knox 2nd – Strumming 3rd – Nicaise & Inch Ahead (dead heat) 5th – Brav ‘N’ Ample
Stewards acceded to the request of Trainer G Heinrich to scratch MR HEARTBREAKER (D Griffin) at 2.44 pm due to the track downgrade. MR HEARTBREAKER will now incur a ‘slow’ track ban.
Stewards acceded to the request of Trainer D Schmidt to scratch THE ROMAN (App P Schmidt) at 3.04 pm due to the track downgrade. THE ROMAN will now incur a ‘slow’ track ban.
Trainer D Kelly was fined the sum of $100 for late rider notification of App. B Wallace on STRUMMING.
Correct weight was delayed to enable Jockey J Stanley rider of INCH AHEAD to view the photo finish image. After viewing the image Jockey Stanley confirmed his satisfaction with the decision and correct weight was given on the numbers semaphored.
INCH AHEAD (JP Stanley) was fractious in the barriers.
COUNTY RAIDER (D Barron) shifted in at the start making contact with STRUMMING (App B Wallace).
ENGLISH STAR (D Tanti) raced wide for the majority of the event and near the 700m shifted in and bumped GALLANT HAWK (S Galloway).
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BEYOND THE LIMIT, Jockey C Whiteley could offer no tangible explanation as the horse was under pressure 500m from the finish. Stewards will contact with Trainer R Heathcote regarding the future plans and post race recovery of the gelding.
BRAV ‘N’ AMPLE (B Abbey) suffered a bleeding attack during the running. Under the provisions of AR53A BRAV ‘N’ AMPLE will be ineligible to race for a period of 3 months.
