Stewards heard a complaint by Trainer P Jones the Trainer of BALLISTIC into the riding tactics adopted by App T Harrison in that the horse raced in a more forward position than he had instructed. After hearing submissions from Trainer P Jones and App. T Harrison and viewing the official race film, Stewards could not be critical of App. Harrison’s ride in that BALLISTIC had a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages despite her efforts and as a result she was unable to settle the horse back in the field as instructed. Trainer P Jones accepted the explanation of App. Harrison and agreed with the Stewards’ reading of the film and as a result no further action was taken.
Jockey K Collins the rider of ORBITING SPIRIT was reprimanded in that he struck the gelding on more than 5 occasions in a forehand manner prior to the 100m.
