Race 2 – Trainer B Guy advised that due to the disappointing performance of VEYSONNAZ, the horse will be sent for an immediate spell.
Race 4 – Stewards questioned Trainer M Dunn regarding the dual engagement of Jockey A Pattillo for this race and after considering his explanation were of the view that there were mitigating circumstances regarding the declaration of a rider for his horse STAKED EMOTION.
Race 7 – Trainer K Doughty advised that she has been pleased with the post-race recovery of LITTLE WHITE HORSE and will continue with its preparation.
Trainer D Pendergast was fined the sum of $200 for the late rider notifications of ENCOSTAS GIFT – Race 7 and TOOLATETOAPOLOGISE – Race 3.
Stewards today enquired into the reason Ms A Willaton rode work at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Tuesday 15 November 2011 when not currently the holder of the appropriate licence. After hearing submissions from Trainer Mr L Morton, Trainer M Spackman and Ms Willaton, Stewards were of the opinion that there were mitigating circumstances and therefore took no direct action other than to reprimand Ms Willaton and advise her to be sure of her licence status in future.
Race 1: John Wallace Class 2 H’cap – 2200m
1st – Rare Subject 2nd – Alkiori 3rd – Peppseelon 4th – Jade’s Dilemma
The start was slightly delayed when TWO TIMES A LADY (N Thomas) proved difficult to load. As the start was effected TWO TIMES A LADY became fractious in the barriers and refused to jump with the field. Eventually when the mare did leave the barrier gates it had lost considerable ground and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer J Methven was advised that TWO TIMES A LADY must compete to the Stewards’ satisfaction in an official barrier trial before the mare races again.
RARE SUBJECT (D Griffin) had a tendency to over-race as a result of the slow pace in the middle stages of the event.
ISLAND TYCOON (R Hancock) hung in near the 1000m momentarily crowding RARE SUBJECT.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of SON OF BENNY, Jockey J Bowditch stated that in his opinion the horse may not have backed up from a hard run at its previous start last week. A post-race veterinary examination of SON OF BENNY (J Bowditch) revealed no apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
Race 2: Alan Bailey Maiden Plate – 1100m
1st – Octavius 2nd – Sequends 3rd – Otango 4th – Barryan
The start was delayed when MECENE ROSE (K Fuji) proved difficult to load.
BARRYAN (App. T Harrison) jumped in the air at the start.
GOLDEN MAHARAJA (K Pope) began awkwardly and shortly after the start GOLDEN MAHARAJA and MECENE ROSE were tightened for room between SKATE ON BY (D Missen) and OCTAVIUS (D Griffin) which shifted out.
Near the 900m OCTAVIUS had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of BARRYAN which shifted in.
MECENE ROSE hung out near the 900m and shifted wider on the track.
Approaching the 800m NEDIYM THUNDER (D Tanti) improved on to the heels of OTANGO (A Pattillo) and had to be steadied.
Near the 800m SEQUENDS (T Treichel) commenced to hang out and a short distance later shifted out becoming awkward on the heels of OCTAVIUS.
OTANGO commenced to over-race leaving the 800m and near the 600m shifted out forcing MECENE ROSE wider on the track.
BARRYAN raced greenly for the majority of the event.
GOLDEN MAHARAJA raced greenly in the home straight when placed under pressure.
When questioned into the performance of SKATE ON BY, Jockey D Missen stated that SKATE ON BY raced very greenly throughout the event and near the 500m became unbalanced and lost ground. However, once regaining its balance in the home straight found the line fairly. He further added that in his opinion the horse would benefit with the addition of blinkers. Trainer H Page agreed with Jockey Missen’s assessment and confirmed that she would experiment with blinkers and a step up in distance for the horse’s next start. After considering all matters, Ms Page was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of SKATE ON BY.
It was reported that BARRYAN lost its off fore plate in running.
Race 3: Howard Wilson Maiden H’cap – 900m
1st – Paleface Ready 2nd – Quizette 3rd – Pakleppa Lane 4th – Karisha
The connections of PAKLEPPA LANE were advised that the sum of $100 would be imposed as a result of a late declaration of rider for PAKLEPPA LANE. (B Richardson).
FASTMOTIF (K Pope) which became fractious in the enclosure prior to going on to the track slipped over. After undergoing a veterinary examination, FASTMOTIF was cleared to proceed to the barriers. Once at the barriers a further examination of FASTMOTIF cleared the horse to take its place in the field.
FASTMOTIF which was fractious in the barriers was slow to begin.
MR BAGGY BRITCHES (App. J Johnson) began awkwardly and lost ground.
Approaching the 700m ATHABASCA (M Palmer) commenced to lay in crowding the running of KARISHA (N Thomas) and when being corrected shifted out forcing MASTER FORESHORE (J Bowditch) out inconveniencing FASTMOTIF which had to be steadied as a result.
INFIRST (L Cheshire) had to be steadied near the 600m after improving on to the heels of ZAH DE DAR (App. A Allen).
PAKLEPPA LANE (B Richardson) and MR BAGGY BRITCHES raced wide for the majority of the event.
Near the 200m PAKLEPPA LANE was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of D Griffin the rider of QUIZETTE.
Leaving the 200m QUIZETTE (D Griffin) shifted out under pressure inconveniencing PAKLEPPA LANE which shifted in slightly. D Griffin the rider of QUIZETTE was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances in future.
Race 4: Harold Norman QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1400m
1st – Precious Mandy 2nd – Dazzle Us 3rd – Peel River 4th – Colour Code
The start was delayed when MISS WARREGO became fractious in the barrier dislodging its rider, D Tanti. MISS WARREGO was declared a late scratching at 2.51 pm by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on MISS WARREGO were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 2.51 pm:-

Trainer D Duke was advised that MISS WARREGO must perform to stewards’ satisfaction in an official trial before the filly races again.
CARDS ‘N’ OWLS (T Treichel) and COLOUR CODE (App. A Allen) were slow to begin.
GRAB THE LOOT (M Palmer) was slow into stride.
Leaving the 1100m when the pace slackened, CAPTAIN FASTBUCK (App. T Harrison) improved on to the heels of DAZZLE US (J Bowditch) and had to be restrained off that runner’s heels for some distance when over-racing.
Near the 1000m JUST PURE MAGIC (D Green) improved on to the heels of PRECIOUS MANDY (App. B Wallace) and had to be steadied. PERSIAN GLANCE (K Fuji) and GRAB THE LOOT (M Palmer) which were following also had to be steadied at that stage as a result.
PEEL RIVER (D Griffin), CARDS ‘N’ OWLS and COLOUR CODE all raced wide for the majority of the event.
Near the 400m DAZZLE US shifted out around the heels of CARDS ‘N’ OWLS and in doing so forced CAPTAIN FASTBUCK out on to GRAB THE LOOT which had to be steadied and shift wider on the track.
A post-race veterinary examination of EURO GIRL (A Pattillo) revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer K Schweida was advised that he must obtain a veterinary certificate of fitness for EURO GIRL before the filly races again.
Race 5: Brown and Hurley Fillies and Mares Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Spring Violet 2nd – Bella Heritage 3rd – Psyclone Miss 4th – Lady Who
PSYCLONE MISS (App. A Allen) and HAPPY TO WIN (E Kehoe) were slow to begin.
Shortly after the start LADY WHO (D Griffin) shifted out making contact with SHEEZ KEEN (A Pattillo) and then shifted in making contact with BELLA HERITAGE (D Missen).
LAMADAAMA (App. T Harrison) over-raced during the early and middle stages of the event.
SLIGHT GLANCE (D Tanti) raced wide for the majority of the event.
PSYCLONE MISS was held up for clear running leaving the 400m until near the 300m and had to shift wider on the track.
BELLA HERITAGE was held up for clear running leaving the 400m until near the 300m.
Leaving the 200m SHEEZ KEEN became unbalanced and shifted in making contact with LAMADAAMA.
Race 6: Breeze FM 100.6 Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Go Kingpin 2nd – Faith No More 3rd – Withthesewings 4th – Fault Lion
As Jockey A Pattillo was dually engaged on FLAGGES FLYING and SAZERAC, he was replaced as the rider of FLAGGES FLYING by Jockey T Treichel. Jockey Pattillo was fined the sum of $100.
SAZERAC was a late scratching at 3.08 pm by order of the Stewards after the gelding injured its near hind hock en route to the course. Trainer K Schweida was advised that he must obtain a veterinary certificate of fitness for SAZERAC before the gelding races again.
GO KINGPIN (D Missen), EXPLORER CLUB (K Pope), MACHO CAT (R Hancock) and PORTUGUESE (J Stanley) were slow to begin.
OLD RAWHIDE (J Bowditch) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.
FAITH NO MORE (D Griffin) over-raced in the middle stages of the event and near the 700m had to be steadied off the heels of OLD RAWHIDE.
OLD RAWHIDE had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of FAITH NO MORE which shifted in under pressure near the 150m.
Race 7: Liam Rogers Has Changed Class 4 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Emvoss 2nd – Cap Dancer 3rd – Playaction 4th – Nobody’s Johnny
After arriving at the barriers, at the request of Jockey T Treichel, BARMAZAL was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
EMVOSS (J Bowditch) jumped out at the start making contact with COEN (L Cheshire) which in turn shifted out making contact with ROYAL TALENT (D Griffin).
COEN commenced to over-race shortly after the start and had to be restrained off the heels of NOBODY’S JOHNNY (JP Stanley) for some distance until near the 700m.
Approaching the 1000m SIR MOSSMAN (E Kehoe) commenced to over-race and had to be steadied off the heels of PLAYACTION (K Pope) approaching and leaving the 800m.
PLAYACTION, SIR MOSSMAN and LUCKILY (App. J Johnson) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 8: Nathan Van Liempd Class 3 Memorial – 1200m
1st – Gift of the Day 2nd – Politely 3rd – Miss Mimmick 4th – Richly Blended
Correct weight was delayed when Jockey J Bowditch the rider of POLITELY wished to exercise his rights and view the film to see if he had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner GIFT OF THE DAY, alleging interference over the final 200m. After viewing the official film, J Bowditch elected not to proceed and correct weight was given on the Judge’s semaphored placings.
HASHASAN (JP Stanley) was slow to begin.
POLITELY (J Bowditch) and SOLAR HEART (D Green) over-raced in the middle stages of the event.
STRATUM FORCE (M Gray) raced 3 wide throughout the event.
Leaving the 800m HASHASAN had to be steadied and lost ground when the gelding resented racing to the inside of SOLAR HEART.
POLITELY was held up and unable to improve when leaving the 500m until approaching the 300m.
Jockey T Treichel the rider of GIFT OF THE DAY pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift out near the 200m when being ridden along when insufficiently clear of RICHLY BLENDED (K Fuji) which was taken out on to SOLAR HEART which in turn was tightened on to TURENNE (D Griffin) resulting in SOLAR HEART having to be checked. Jockey Treichel was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings to commence midnight 05/12/2011 and to expire midnight 16/12/2011.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of TURENNE, Jockey D Griffin was unable to offer any tangible explanation other than noting that the gelding was having its first start after a short break. Stewards noted his explanation. Trainer A Willick later reported to stewards that she was satisfied with the way the gelding had recovered from the race and at the suggestion of jockey Griffin would experiment with the use of blinkers for its next race start, in an endeavour to get TURENNE to race truly.
