Miss Monroe subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(q) in that she entered into a verbal altercation with Mr Cameron using expletive language in the horse tieup stalls.

In considering penalty stewards were mindful of Miss Monroe’s personal circumstances and penalised her the sum of $1,000.00, with $500.00 to be suspended for a period of 12 months on the condition that she does not reoffend in that time under the provisions of LR22(f).

Leaving the 1000m SARDANA LAD shifted out making contact with CRACOW (B. Looker).

WINNASPINNA (L. Rolls) had a tendency to overrace in the early and middle stages of the event.

Approaching the 700m LAST BET (D. Missen) improved up onto the heels of SARDANA LAD, which was steadied onto the heels of EMPRESS OF ROME.

Near the 600m LAST BET became unbalanced and shifted wider on the track.

Near the 500m CRACOW shifted out making contact with ROCKING EMPIRE (App A. Holt).

Approaching the 500m SARDANA LAD shifted out around the heels of EMPRESS OF ROME making contact with LAST BET.

ROCKING EMPIRE raced wide for the majority of the event.

When questioned regarding the performance of LAST BET jockey D. Missen stated that in his opinion the pace of the race had not suited the gelding and further that LAST BET raced greenly in the middle stages however, when balanced in the home straight and placed under pressure LAST BET only found the line fairly.

When questioned as to the performance of DEFAULT compared to its last start trainer Harold Norman stated that on that occasion from the outside barrier the gelding was required to work hard in the early stages to take up a forward position and as a result failed to finish the race off as expected. Mr Norman added that today DEFAULT was able to take up its usual forward position with relative ease, and in his opinion also benefited by a drop back in grade and the engagement of a claiming apprentice in today’s race. His explanation was noted.

Race 2: Currumbin Creek Tavern Benchmark 75 H’Cap – 2200m
1st – That’s Karma 2nd – Famous Fortune 3rd – Billum 4th – White City

After being obliged to race 3 wide in the early stages J. Stanley then allowed WORLD BY NIGHT to improve forward until obtaining the lead near the 1300m.

MUSIC MAESTRO overraced in the early and middle stages of the event.

When questioned as to the performance of MUSIC MAESTRO jockey J. Hoopert stated that due to the slow speed in today’s race the gelding overraced in the early and middle stages of the race and in doing so shifted in and made contact with the running rail on a number of occasions. J. Hoopert further advised that in his opinion the gelding may not have run out a solid 2200m. A post race veterinary examination of MUSIC MAESTRO revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to its off hind leg.

Taylor stated that after suffering severe interference shortly after the start the mare lost considerable ground and then despite his efforts was reluctant to stretch out in the early and middle stages of the race.
