Race 1: Von Bibra Auto Group Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden SW Plate – 1200m
1st – Torero 2nd – Mr Mysterious 3rd – Nice Red 4th – Go Gus Go
GO GUS GO (L. Cheshire) was slow to begin.
TIGER TAMER (A. Spinks) jumped out onto TORERO (T. Treichel) at the start.
Shortly after the start MR MYSTERIOUS (App A. Hearn) shifted in and brushed NAKAMURA MAKOYANA (G. Killen).
NAKAMURA MAKOYANA commenced to hang out leaving the 1000m and continued to hang out rounding the home turn placing its rider at a severe disadvantage for the remainder of the event. NAKAMURA MAKOYANA then raced greenly in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J. Holcombe was advised that NAKAMURA MAKOYANA must compete in an official barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to again racing.
TORERO was held up from leaving the 500m until entering the straight.
Near the 200m MR MYSTERIOUS shifted out and brushed GO GUS GO.
App A. Hearn the rider of MR MYSTERIOUS was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
NICE RED (App R. Jamieson) raced wide throughout the event.
Race 2: Howl At The Moon 3YO Maiden H’Cap – 900m
1st – Spontaneity 2nd – If He Don’t 3rd – Miss Helter 4th – Just Swell
NATURAL MIST was inspected by the veterinary surgeon upon arrival on course and passed fit to start.
JUST SWELL (T. Treichel) began awkwardly and lost ground.
IF HE DON’T (C. Small) knuckled on jumping and lost ground.
SPONTANEITY (App A. Hearn) was held up for clear running on entering the straight until a point near the 200m.
Approaching the 200m both DESIDERATA (Michael Palmer) and STEEL HAMMER (B. Looker) came together and were tightened for room between SPONTANEITY, which shifted out under pressure and IF HE DON’T, which shifted in marginally. A short distance later DESIDERATA was obliged to steady away from the heels of SPONTANEITY, which continued to shift out when being ridden along. At a subsequent inquiry App A. Hearn the rider of SPONTANEITY was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out under pressure when insufficiently clear of DESIDERATA. In arriving at this decision stewards took into account the slight shift in by IF HE DON’T and also the racing manners of STEEL HAMMER.
IF HE DON’T raced wide throughout the event.
Race 3: Prime 7 Benchmark 70 H’Cap – 900m
1st – Golden Trinkets 2nd – Seiyo 3rd – Chipp’n Away 4th – Heart Throb
CHIPP’N AWAY (App A. Hearn), SEIYO (T. Treichel) and HEART THROB (A. Pattillo) were all slow into stride.

Race 4: ABS Signs Benchmark 80 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – So So Sure 2nd – Show Me An Ace 3rd – Crazy Mamma 4th – Monashee Warrior
The start of this race was delayed when MONASHEE WARRIOR (App M. Speers) required barrier attention.
Stewards considered an objection lodged by A. Pattillo the rider of SHOW ME AN ACE which finished 2nd against SO SO SURE (T. Treichel) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference rounding the home turn. On the evidence provided stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that any interference suffered to SHOW ME AN ACE rounding the home turn when SO SO SURE shifted out warranted a reversal of the placings and therefore dismissed the objection and correct weight was given on the Judge’s numbers as semaphored.
SO SO SURE was slow to begin.
RUNNING VIXEN (App K. Gates) began awkwardly.
ST BEUNE (B. Looker) and SHOW ME AN ACE bumped on jumping away.
App J.K. Johnson was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR137(d) for restraining her mount near the 800m when leading causing MONASHEE WARRIOR to be awkwardly placed at her runner’s heels and as a result shifted out forcing MONASHEE WARRIOR to shift out, which in resulted in IDOCRASE (App A. Hearn), ST BEUNE and RUNNING VIXEN all being hampered and forced wider on the track. RUNNING VIXEN was then obliged to race wide from this point onwards.
MONASHEE WARRIOR overraced during the middle stages of the event.

C. Small the rider of RISING SKY pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1100m when insufficiently clear of TIFFINCO (C. Whiteley), forcing that runner in across the rightful running of RYE FILLY OURS, resulting in that runner being checked. C. Small’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of six (6) meetings to commence midnight 6 October 2012 and to expire midnight 17 October 2012. In assessing penalty stewards took into account C. Small’ s exemplary riding record.

Race 6: Lambert Locations Class 2 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Stratum Force 2nd – Presentation 3rd – Havasnip 4th – Bundy
Trainer J. Holcombe was reprimanded for the late declaration of G. Killen as the rider of BUNDY.
The start of this race was delayed when BUNDY (G. Killen) required barrier attention.
Near the 500m MAC’S ADDITION (App A. Hearn) shifted in of its own accord making contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.
THE CRUISERWEIGHT (A. Pattillo) and BRIGADOON EXPRESS (D. Missen) both raced wide throughout.
Race 7: Little Souls Taking Big Steps Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Ellythea 2nd – Default 3rd – Class of Gold 4th – Popstar Pete

REGGAE MAN and MATTY’S SEQUEL both overraced during the early stages of the event.
When the pace of the race slackened near the 800m REGGAE MAN commenced to overrace, improved up onto the heels of CLASS OF GOLD (L. Rolls) was steadied and shifted out. REGGAE MAN raced wide from that point onwards.
Near the 500m MA ROYAL HINEY was placed in restricted room when racing to the inside of CLASS OF GOLD, which shifted in slightly.
Stewards questioned D. Missen regarding the disappointing performance of NEOMAGIC. D. Missen stated that during the middle stages of the event the gelding was reluctant to stretch out despite his urgings and added that NEOMAGIC was most disappointing. He further added that in his opinion NEOMAGIC resented the ear muffs and pacifiers which were carried for the first time today. Trainer D. Scanes agreed with D. Missen’s assessment and undertook to remove the racing gear from the gelding. Acting on this advice stewards took no further action other than to record an official warning against the horse’s performance. A post race veterinary examination of NEOMAGIC revealed no significant findings.

1st – Go Johnnie Go 2nd – Griffith Lad 3rd – Dane Princess 4th – Witches Lips
App A. Hearn the rider of GO JOHNNIE GO pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near 1600m when insufficiently clear of DANE PRINCESS (App R. Hurdle), resulting in DANE PRINCESS being forced in onto GRIFFITH LAD (J.K. Johnson), which in turn shifted in tightening the running of MAGIC OPTION (App R. Jamieson), resulting in that horse being severely checked. App Hearn’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) meetings to commence midnight 6 October 2012 and expire midnight 20 October 2012.
Near the 1000m DANE PRINCESS and MAGIC OPTION bumped on a number of occasions.
Near the 500m DANE PRINCESS shifted in tightening the running of MAGIC OPTION for a number of strides.
