SUPPLEMENTARY:
App. P Keane was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR86 in relation to his dress attire.
Race 1: Wanless Enviro Services Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Jacaranda Avenue 2nd – Jetscape 3rd – Shirlielle 4th – Bundu Boy
SHIRLIELLE (D Griffin) and OTIMO (L Cheshire) were slow to begin.
DESIDERATA (M Palmer) knuckled on jumping away.
JETSCAPE (A Hearn) raced ungenerously during the early stages of the event.
RISING SKY (R Jamieson) raced wide throughout the event.
YOU’RE SERIOUS (G Goold) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.
Near the 600m JETSCAPE which continued to race ungenerously, improved up on to the heels of OUR LITTLE MISSY (C Schmidt) and was steadied and shifted out abruptly. JETSCAPE was obliged to race wide from this point onwards.
A post-race veterinary examination of DESIDERATA which compounded badly in the straight failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination. Trainer B Crowley advised Stewards that in his opinion the gelding resented wearing the tongue tie and indicated that he would now experiment with removing that piece of gear.
App. G Goold (YOU’RE SERIOUS) was fined the sum of $200 for failing to ride his mount out to the finish line.
App. A Hearn (JETSCAPE) was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the line.
It was reported that JETSCAPE lost its off hind shoe in running.
Race 2: SMARTSKIP MAIDEN PLATE – 900m
1st – Falonleah 2nd – I Am Sure 3rd – Dangerous Edition 4th – Bull Shark
BURBERRY CHIC (A Mundy) which was fractious in the barriers was slow to begin.
I AM SURE (A Hearn) began awkwardly.
BULL SHARK (G Goold) which was slow to begin was tightened shortly afterwards between LIQUID NITROGEN (R Jamieson) and EURASIAN GIRL (D Griffin) which shifted in.
Approaching the 800m BURBERRY CHIC was eased when tightened for room by I AM SURE which shifted in. App. Hearn the rider of I AM SURE was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
BURBERRY CHIC over-raced for a short distance and approaching the 600m commenced to hang out across the heels of I AM SURE and was checked and shifted out. In this incident DANA PRINCE (JK Johnson) which was trailing was inconvenienced as a consequence.
Jockey J Stanley reported that over the final 200m when placed under pressure, DANGEROUS EDITION commenced to lay out placing him at a disadvantage.
App. R Jamieson (LIQUID NITROGEN) was reminded of her obligations to push her mounts right out to the finish line.
Race 3: Wanless Recycling Class 1 H’cap – 900m
1st – Both Ears 2nd – Sweet Taboo 3rd – Bossboss 4th – Grand Elegance
HIDE ‘N’ SEEK (A Hearn) was fractious in the barriers. Trainer J Dann was advised that an official warning will be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
EL DRAGO (C Whiteley) raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event.
HIDE ‘N’ SEEK raced wide throughout the event.
BOTH EARS (R Jamieson) was inclined to lay in for a short distance leaving the 500m.
BOSSBOSS (G Goold) was held up for a short distance in the early part of the straight.
CUFFLINK (E Kehoe) was held up for clear running over the concluding stages of the event.
A post-race veterinary examination of HIDE ‘N’ SEEK failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
Race 4: Busan Racehorse Owners Association Trophy Class 2 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Count Romano 2nd – King Baroo 3rd – Zenawomann 4th – Priscilla’s Star
MAGIC OPTION (R Jamieson) raced wide until leaving the 1200m where it was able to assume a position in the lead.
Leaving the 800m KING BAROO (A Mundy) improved up on to the heels of COUNT ROMANO (M McKenzie) and was steadied.
A post-race veterinary examination of MASTER CARTER (A Butler) which weakened over the final 200m revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Representative for Trainer B Baldwin was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be obtained for MASTER CARTER before its next race start.
Race 5: Smartloo Fillies and Mares Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Quizette 2nd – My Mirage 3rd – Tiffinco 4th – Raydar’s Girl
Connections of TIFFINCO (C Whiteley) advised that it was their intention to have the mare ridden back with cover mid-field or mid back if circumstances permit. The mare was ridden accordingly.
STARFIRE GIRL which dislodged its rider en route to the barriers, galloped a considerable distance and was subsequently withdrawn by order of stewards at 2.57 pm. All monies invested on STARFIRE GIRL were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 2.57 pm:
15 cents in the dollar for the win - # 1 (QUIZETTE)
11 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - # 1 (QUIZETTE)
20 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place - # 8 (MY MIRAGE)
14 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place - # 5 (TIFFINCO)
Trainer K Doughty was advised that an official warning would be placed on STARFIRE GIRL’S pre-race manners.
MISS MARY ANN (A Pattillo) knuckled on jumping away.
TIFFINCO was slow to begin.
Near the 1000m COCO BABY (S Apthorpe) was steadied when tightened for room by RAYDAR’S GIRL (C Schmidt) which was taken in by SHOWRUN (T Treichel). At a subsequent enquiry Jockey Treichel was severely reprimanded and advised in future he must leave sufficient racing room for runners to his inside.
Race 6: Wanless 13 Waste Colts, Geldings and Entire Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Aspy Bay 2nd – Everything to Gain 3rd – Feltham 4th – Popstar Pete
As App. P Keane was stood down by the club doctor after the running of Race 5, Stewards permitted App. J Johnson to replace him as the rider on EVERYTHING TO GAIN.
TORERO (T Treichel), POPSTAR PETE (G Goold) and RHYTHM NATION (D Tanti) were all slow to begin.
Near the 900m ASPY BAY (A Pattillo) and O’BRO (C Schmidt) were both tightened for room by EVERYTHING TO GAIN which shifted in. App. J Johnson the rider of EVERYTHING TO GAIN was severely reprimanded and advised in future she must leave sufficient racing room for runners to her inside.
TORERO and EVERYTHING TO GAIN (J Johnson) raced wide throughout the event.
RHYTHM NATION had difficulty obtaining clear running during the early part of the home straight.
O’BRO hung out in the home straight.
Race 7: Wanless Environmental Class 3 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Speeding Dragon 2nd – Stratum Force 3rd – Currency Boy 4th – Smart ‘N’ Crafty
As App. P Keane was to be overweight he was replaced on TEXAS RED by App. B Hodder. App. Keane was fined the sum of $100.
VOLCANIC WARRIOR (M Palmer), CURRENCY BOY (C Schmidt), OURMANINAMSTERDAM (T Treichel) and GOLD AND POWER (L Cheshire) were all slow to begin.
OURMANINAMSTERDAM raced wide during the early stages of the event.
Near the 1000m STRATUM FORCE (L Rolls) commenced to over-race was steadied and shifted out across the heels of TEXAS RED. SMART ‘N’ CRAFTY (JK Johnson) which was following, improved up on to the heels of STRATUM FORCE and was steadied as a consequence.
Near the 400m TUCSON TRAIL (R Jamieson) was buffeted between VOLCANIC WARRIOR and GO THE BLAZE (A Pattillo).
Near the 250m VOLCANIC WARRIOR was steadied when tightened for room between GO THE BLAZE and GOLD AND POWER which shifted out.
TUCSON TRAIL raced wide throughout the event.
CURRENCY BOY (C Schmidt) bled during the event. As this was the second occasion on which CURRENCY BOY had bled under the provisions of AR53A the gelding will incur a lifetime ban from racing in Australia.
Race 8: Wanless Industrial Liquid Solutions H’cap – 1400m
1st – Crazy Mamma 2nd – It’s Wunderbar 3rd – Lucky Songs 4th – Musashi of Mieko
TRISKELE (B Hodder) was slow to begin.
TRISKELE raced ungenerously during the early and middle stages of the event.
Near the 1000m URNFIELD (C Schmidt) shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of IT’S WUNDERBAR (L Cheshire).
ST BEUNE (D Griffin) raced wide for the majority of the event.
URNFIELD was held up for clear running rounding the home turn for a short distance.
LUCKY SONGS (G Goold) was held up for a short distance on entering the straight and shifted to the outside of IT’S WUNDERBAR in order to improve.
A post-race veterinary examination of TRISKELE failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
