As Jockey Michael Palmer was stood down by the club doctor, rider replacements were made pursuant to Stewards’ Race Day Summary.
Race 1: New Sky Racing IPhone App Class 1 H’cap – 900m
1st – One Lion 2nd – Sheeza Myzzile 3rd – My Shabella 4th – Rattle The Tin
ONE LINE (J K Johnson) was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the start and was cleared to race.
SHEEZA MYZZILE (M McKenzie) began awkwardly, lost ground, raced wide throughout the event and had a tendency to lay in during the early stages of the home straight.
App. M McKenzie (SHEEZA MYZZILE) was reprimanded for raising his arm above shoulder height when using his whip.
Race 2: Off The Rails Maiden Plate – 1300m
1st – Mansfield Park 2nd – Yasmina 3rd – Tispura Tonite 4th – Maximum Cash
Connections advised that TISPURA TONITE (J Morris) would be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
DAWN BOY (C Whiteley) was slow to begin.
WAR DRAGON (J Johnson) was hampered at the start and lost ground when tightened for room between MANSFIELD PARK (M Palmer) and TISPURA TONITE which began awkwardly and shifted out.
TISPURA TONITE over-raced during the early and middle stages of the event.
YASMINA (M McKenzie) shifted out when placed under pressure over the final 200m.
It was reported that MANSFIELD PARK lost its off hind plate in running.
Race 3: RBC Business Solutions Class 2 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Hypothesis 2nd – Novikov 3rd – Daisy Can Too 4th – Run Away Ruby
HYPOTHESIS (M McKenzie) underwent a veterinary examination prior to the start which revealed a small laceration to its lower lip. The gelding was subsequently passed to start.
NOVIKOV (J K Johnson) proved difficult to load causing a delay to the start of this event.
RUN AWAY RUBY (L Rolls) and NOVIKOV were slow to begin.
HYPOTHESIS over-raced during the early stages of the event.
NOVIKOV raced wide throughout the event.
NOVIKOV was steadied near the 600m after improving up on to the heels of MAGINNIS MAGEE (B Hodder).
Shortly after entering the straight both DAISY CAN TOO (T Treichel) and HYPOTHESIS brushed.
Jockey A Pattillo reported on return to scale that JUST PURE MAGIC failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
Race 4: KB Supplies Maiden H’cap – 1800m
1st – Bellinger Valley 2nd – Way of Being 3rd – People Get Ready 4th – Badboycurtis
MADEMOISELLE JOLIE (B Hodder) began awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with BADBOYCURTIS (T Treichel) which in turn shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of BELLINGER VALLEY (A Pattillo).
BET ON BLACK over-raced during the middle stages of the event.
Near the 1400m turn BET ON BLACK (M McKenzie) which hung out across the heels of PEOPLE GET READY (R Jamieson) was steadied, and leaving the 1400m continued to hang out across the heels of BADBOYCURTIS and was steadied. In this incident when being corrected by its rider BET ON BLACK shifted in inconveniencing WAY OF BEING (L Rolls).
Trainer S O’Sullivan advised Stewards that in view of today’s performance, it is the intention that BET ON BLACK be retired from racing. Stewards advised Mrs O’Sullivan that should BET ON BLACK continue racing it must perform to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination of BET ON BLACK revealed no apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
Race 5: Racing Retro Class 5 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Sand Biscuit 2nd – Manicero 3rd – Go Kingpin 4th – Black Leg Bay
Connections of MANICERO (L Rolls) advised that the gelding would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
Connections of RIVER PERFUME (M McKenzie) advised that the mare would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. RIVER PERFUME after receiving some interference at the start raced back in the field.
RIVER PERFUME and CARNEGIES CRUZIN (B Hodder) were both tightened when jumping away between GO KINGPIN (J Morris) and DEEP COVE (R Jamieson) both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the 1400m SAND BISCUIT (C Whiteley) shifted in and made contact with DEEP COVE.
GO KINGPIN and THE MIDDLEWEIGHT (T Treichel) raced in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of MANICERO which shifted in slightly near the 1400m. Jockey L Rolls the rider of MANICERO was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
Near the 450m BLACK LEG BAY (L Cheshire) after improving up on to the heels of DEEP COVE and was checked. GO KINGPIN which was following was inconvenienced as a consequence.
When questioned regarding the performance of FLYING DYNAMITE, Jockey G Killen explained the horse travelled well when being held together, however once placed under pressure, failed to respond to his riding and in his view was very disappointing. Trainer L White was unable to offer any tangible explanation and undertook to report to stewards anything that may become apparent which may have had an effect on the horse’s performance in the days subsequent to the event. A post-race veterinary examination of FLYING DYNAMITE failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on DEEP COVE, in particular with leading today which is in contrast to its most recent start, App. R Jamieson stated that her riding instructions were to settle where DEEP COVE felt comfortable and added that after beginning well the horse took up a forward position and commenced to over-race. Whilst it was not her intention to lead and due to a lack of pace in the race the gelding raced in a forward position. Her explanation was noted.
Race 6: Qld Barrier Trials On Sky 3yo H’cap – 1300m
1st – Top Rada 2nd – Gallinari 3rd – Platinum Mint 4th – Rock Lane
QUICK SPENDER (B Swaffer) was slow to begin.
Jockey J Morris the rider of GIANT CRUSHER was severely reprimanded for careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 950m when not quite clear of ROCK LANE (T Treichel) resulting in that runner being steadied. GALLINARI (L Cheshire) which was following ROCK LANE had to be steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of that runner. TOP RADA (G Goold) which was following GALLINARI was inconvenienced as a consequence.

When questioned into the performance of STRONG CHAMPION App. J Johnson stated that in her opinion the filly may have resented racing inside other horses and was reluctant to race truly and feels like the horse may be better suited when drawn wider on the track. Her explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination of STRONG CHAMPION (JK Johnson) failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.

Race 7: JMSUP Co. Pourre Consulting Class 3 Plate – 1200m
1st – Regular 2nd – Dorchester 3rd – Kiev 4th – Heart Throb
Trainer M Brosnan was fined the sum of $100 for late rider notification of App. C Schmidt on KIEV.
LITTLE MISS OMBRA which was fractious in the barriers prior to the start, reared as the start was effected dislodging its rider, B Hodder, and the mare took no part in the race. Trainer A Willick was advised that LITTLE MISS OMBRA must obtain a further barrier certificate at an official trial, before being permitted to race again.
REGULAR (J K Johnson) over-raced during the early stages of the event.
HEART THROB (J Morris) and REGULAR bumped near the 700m.
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on HEART THROB in racing more forward than at its most recent start, Jockey J Morris stated that after beginning well he was able to obtain the lead without placing any undue pressure on the gelding in the small field. His explanation was noted.
Jockey J Morris (HEART THROB) was fined the sum of $100 for raising his arm above shoulder height when using his whip.
Race 8: Racehorsetalk.com.au Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Lucky Elite 2nd – Pink Brietta 3rd – Strada Title 4th – Desperate Dan
Trainer J Morrisey was fined the sum of $100 for late rider notification of App. B Swaffer on PINK BRIETTA.
POPSTAR PETE (B Hodda) which was slow to begin shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of DESPERATE DAN (M Palmer).
Shortly after the start POPSTAR PETE, BILLY JAY (T Treichel) and BINGSHAN (L Rolls) were tightened for room between DESPERATE DAN and STRADA TITLE (A Spinks) which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
PASCONI (M McKenzie) over-raced during the early and middle stages of the event.
DESPERATE DAN over-raced during the middle stages of the event.
BUNDU BOY (C Whiteley) was held up for clear running from the 500m until upon entering the straight.
Over the concluding stages of the race STRADA TITLE was inclined to lay out and became awkward at the heels of LUCKY ELITE and had to be eased.
A post-race veterinary examination of LUCKY ELITE revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to its near hind canon which is consistent to being galloped on.
