As T. Treichel was indisposed due to illness stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.


Race 1: Hynes Legal Class 2 H’Cap – 900m
1st – Craiglea Masta 2nd – Brilliant Rose 3rd – Jacaranda Avenue 4th – Gift Of The Day

PURRFECTLYFEARLESS (Matthew Palmer) was slow to begin.

JACARANDA AVENUE (App T. Wolfgram) shifted out bumping BRONCO (B. Looker) on 2 occasions shortly after the start.

BOTH EARS (App R. Jamieson) was inclined to lay in under pressure in the early stages of the straight.

Approaching the 300m BRILLIANT ROSE (App B. Appo) became unbalanced and blundered.

BRONCO shifted in under pressure leaving the 300m brushing the running rail.

BOTH EARS raced wide throughout the event.


Race 2: Ozprop Property Investments 3YO & Up Fillies & Mares Maiden H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Spinning Heart 2nd – Green Cashmere 3rd – Admire 4th – Super Sorted

ELLEN THERESE was declared a late scratching at 10.15 a.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice.

A short distance after the start OUR LITTLE MISSY (App C. Schmidt) shifted in and away from ROMAN CONFLICT (Matthew Palmer), which resulted in SPINNING HEART (S. Shield) having to be steadied after becoming awkward on that runner’s heels.

App B. Appo the rider of WINNING FASHIONS was reprimanded for using his whip in a consecutive manner in the early stages of the home straight.

THE DOMINATRIX (E. Kehoe) raced wide throughout the event.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of SPINNING HEART trainer P. Duff reported that following the filly’s first run from a spell which was very pleasing and he was anticipating a forward performance at its previous start at the Sunshine Coast on 5 May 2013 however, the filly raced below expectations and was very disappointing. Mr Duff added he was unable to find any abnormality following the event and the filly had pleased him in its trackwork leading up today’s event and raced accordingly.


Race 3: Doctors Ondemand.com.au 3YO & Up Colts & Geldings Maiden WR 1kg H’Cap – 1400m
1st – You’re Serious 2nd – Space Jam 3rd – Destiny Road 4th – Tax Rebate

Trainer J. Walk was fined the sum of $100.00 for the late declaration of B. Looker as the rider of YOU’RE SERIOUS.

The start of this race was delayed when MUMMULGUM (App B. Appo) proved very difficult to load. Trainer T. Bita was advised that he must produce 2 further barrier certificates for the gelding prior to it being permitted to race again, one of which must be an official trial.

S. Shield the rider of TAX REBATE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that at a point near the 100m when attempting to go forward to the inside of DESTINY ROAD (Matthew Palmer) when riding his horse along he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SHOW YOU CARE (L. Rolls), which had to be checked. S. Shield was suspended from riding in races for a period of six (6) meetings to commence midnight 26 May 2013 and to expire midnight 7 June 2013.

Matthew Palmer the rider of DESTINY ROAD pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 900m when insufficiently clear of SPACE JAM (D. Missen), which shifted in placing MUMMULGUM in restricted room causing that runner to relinquish its position and when being steadied shifted out resulting in MARKET TYCOON (D. Green), which was overracing, to clip that runner’s heels and blunder. Matthew Palmer was suspended from riding in races for a period of five (5) meetings to commence midnight 1 June 2013 and to expire midnight 9 June 2013. In considering this penalty stewards noted Matthew Palmer’s exemplary riding record.

B. Looker the rider of YOU’RE SERIOUS pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that near the 300m he shifted out to improve when insufficiently clear of NORTHERN CULTURE (App T. Wolfgram) which had to be checked and shifted out inconveniencing TWO FORTY VOLT (A. Pattillo). B. Looker was suspended from riding in races for a period of seven (7) meetings to commence midnight 6 June 2013 after the expiration of a current suspension and to expire midnight 14 June 2013.

On return to scale TAX REBATE exhibited blood in its mouth and right nostril. A post race veterinary examination of TAX REBATE revealed evidence of head trauma and trauma to its mouth including missing an upper incisor tooth which was consistent with the horse hitting its head in the barriers, which was confirmed by its rider S. Shields. As a result the injury was deemed due to head trauma and no further action was taken.

When questioned into the improved performance of YOU’RE SERIOUS trainer J. Walk stated that whilst the horse had raced wide at its previous runs he was still nonetheless disappointed with its performances and could only attribute the addition of blinkers today into the improved performance. Stewards noted his explanation.


Race 4: Turtle Beach Resort QTIS 2YO Maiden H’Cap – 1400m
1st – She’s Amazing 2nd – Allhappeningagain 3rd – Four Jays 4th – You Better Not

Trainer D. Kelly was fined the sum of $100.00 for the late declaration of Matthew Palmer as the rider of ALLHAPPENINGAGAIN.

Trainer B. Laming was fined the sum of $100.00 for the late declaration of App R. Jamieson as the rider of SACLAYE.

RACING IN THE WIND (L. Rolls) and MACMICKLE (Michael Palmer) were both slow to begin.

YOU BETTER NOT (A. Spinks) overraced in the early stages of the event.

KOALA LOU (App T. Wolfgram) and SACLAYE (App R. Jamieson) both raced wide for the majority of the event.

L. Rolls the rider of RACING IN THE WIND pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that approaching the 300m he shifted out in an endeavour to improve his position when not fully clear of NORTHERN LOGIC (J.P. Stanley), which had to be checked and shifted wider on the track. L. Rolls was suspended from riding in races for a period of five (5) meetings to commence midnight 1 June 2013 and to expire midnight 9 June 2013. In assessing penalty stewards acknowledged L. Rolls’ very good record in relation to this Rule.


Race 5: Slush Puppie Class 4 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Retune 2nd – Dane Princess 3rd – Bossberg 4th – Carlson’s Felt

Connections of STOP CRYING advised the horse will be ridden forward with cover today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

GENERAL EXPLORER (App C. Schmidt) was slow to begin.

STOP CRYING (D. Hayse) was held up and unable to obtain clear running from approaching the 300m until leaving the 200m.

CARLSON’S FELT (App M. McKenzie) and TAYSTAR (App T. Jeffries) both raced wide for the majority of the event.

On return to scale DECKED OUT (App S. Payne) was found to have bled from both nostrils during the event. As this was the first occasion the gelding will incur a mandatory three (3) month ban from racing under the provisions of AR53A and must compete in a 1000m gallop prior to racing again.

P. Youngberry the trainer of TOUCH THE SNOW reported to stewards that after being disappointed with the mare’s performance today on returning to the tieup stalls the mare was found to be in season.


Race 6: The Brandworks Cup Class 3 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Zippity Lass 2nd – Britaila Kate 3rd – Quizette 4th – Warhogg

WARHOGG (L. Rolls) jumped out at the start making contact with HAVASNIP (App M. McKenzie), which in turn shifted out making contact with THE CRANBERRIES (App P. Schmidt), which was slow to begin resulting in that horse losing ground.

MY KING OATH (App B. Wallace) began awkwardly.

HEART THROB (App T. Wolfgram) raced wide for the majority of the event.


Race 7: Pinkenba Hotel WR 0.5kg Class 3 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Empress Me 2nd – Final Impression 3rd – Court Habit 4th – Platinum Lion

As P. Holmes was overweight stewards permitted C. Whiteley to be substituted as the rider of FAIRY GREEN. P. Holmes was subsequently fined the sum of $100.00.

EMPRESS ME (App P. Schmidt) was slow to begin.

O’GRADY (App B. Appo) and GOLDEN CYGNET (App M. McKenzie) both began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start COURT HABIT (App J.K. Johnson) was tightened for room between PLATINUM LION (D. Missen) and I AM BUT A FOOL (D. Green), which shifted in.

CHUBBY CHIPMUNK (App R. Jamieson) and PLATINUM LION both overraced in the early stages of the event.

I AM BUT A FOOL raced wide for the majority of the event.


Race 8: Starwood Capital Class 1 H’Cap – 1300m
1st – Loves The Show 2nd – Kristrom 3rd – Argie’s Heart 4th – Bedrock Betty

The start of this race was delayed when ARGIE’S HEART (A. Pattillo) underwent a veterinary examination after making contact with the running rail during its preliminary and was cleared to start.

After being fractious in the gates MODERN ROSE (App J.K. Johnson) began awkwardly.

DAYUAN (C. Whiteley) began awkwardly.

CERTAINLY ROSA (App T. Harrison) blundered on jumping away.

SIGMUND (App A. Allen) began awkwardly and became unbalanced shortly after the start.

CERTAINLY ROSA shifted in leaving the 1000m making contact with LOVES THE SHOW (App B. Appo).

ARGIE’S HEART overraced in the middle stages of the event.

Approaching the 300m CERTAINLY ROSA shifted in inconveniencing SIGMUND. Whilst stewards noted the racing manners of CERTAINLY ROSA App Harrison was advised to make a greater effort to keep her mounts straight in similar circumstances

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CERTAINLY ROSA App T. Harrison stated that after beginning only fairly and being obliged to race wide throughout the race CERTAINLY ROSA failed to respond to her riding and commenced to compound soon after entering the home straight. App Harrison further explained that as this was the mare’s second run from a spell in her opinion may have failed to back up from its previous run at the Sunshine Coast on 19 May 2013. A post race veterinary examination of CERTAINLY ROSA failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
