SUPPLEMENTARY:
From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting 15/11/2014 – Race 2
Trainer M. Dunn reported that as the rider had noted that CURFEW was making an abnormal respiratory sound during the race he would add a tongue tie to the gelding’s gear prior to its next start.
From Gold Coast Turf Club Meeting 15/11/2014 – Race 3
Trainer B. Lockwood reported that ADORABUBBLE had pulled up well after its disappointing performance. Mr Lockwood was of the view that the mare may take some fitness benefit from the performance as it was having its first start back from a short let up and had not trialled leading into the race.
Race 1: Sip N Sup Club Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 3 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Lordag 2nd – Purrvosa 3rd – Play Luck 4th – Dharavi
DHARAVI – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
LORDAG – Overraced in the early stages and as a consequence raced 3 wide for the majority of the event.
BREEZE ON BY – When questioned as to the disappointing performance jockey L. Rolls noted that the gelding had not raced in 4 weeks and prior to that had been performing well when racing on a short back up. Stable representative S. Morrisey could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance and undertook to monitor how the gelding recovers following the race and report back to stewards in the days subsequent. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A swab sample was taken.
Race 2: OZKLEEN Asia Pacific BenchMark 75 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Little Long Horn 2nd – Watling 3rd – Nickiera 4th – Torcello
WATLING – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
LITTLE LONG HORN - Raced wide throughout.
NICKIERA – App R. Jamieson reported that the gelding hung out for the majority of the race.
Race 3: CCS Insurance Solutions Maiden H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Pearly Court 2nd – Swenson 3rd – Choupette 4th – Chaste Angel
BROOKAJOE – Slow to begin.
SUMMER SONG – Slow to begin.
SILENCE IS AVIRTUE – Had to be eased when tightened for room shortly after the start. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer K. Schweida reported that an endoscopic examination of the gelding when it returned to its stable, revealed it to be suffering from a throat infection and it will now undergo a course of antibiotics before resuming its preparation.
CHASTE ANGEL – Had to be eased when tightened for room shortly after the start.
DELVAUX – Raced wide throughout.
GIRLSGOGIDDYUP – Rider R. McMahon reported the filly was inclined to lay out throughout the race and as a result shifted out abruptly leaving the 500m. Raced greenly in the home straight.
Race 4: Ultimate Tool Distribution Maiden Plate – 1800m
1st – Electric Crimson 2nd – New Eclipse 3rd – Lord Chamberlain 4th – Dakabee
The start was delayed when DAKABEE presented to race in a tongue control bit when it was not part of its advertised racing gear. DAKABEE subsequently raced in a standard bit. Subject to any further submissions trainer B. Currie was fined $100.00.
OUR LITTLE MISSY - As J. Orman was indisposed due to transport difficulties stewards permitted App B. Grylls to be substituted as the rider. Slow to begin.
NEW ECLIPSE – Slow to begin. Rider T. Harrison reported the mare was inclined to lay in in the home straight and as a result she was unable to ride the horse with her usual vigour. Held up rounding the home turn.
DAKABEE – Raced wide in the early stages and was ridden forward to obtain a position closer to the fence near the 1000m.
AMAZING ROSAIS – Shifted wider leaving the 900m and raced wide from that point onwards. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from a mild case of the thumps.
REAL PLAYBOY – Steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of the weakening STELLENBOSCH LOVE near the 300m.
OUR BAJA – Held up approaching the 200m when disappointed for a run.
HERE HE IS – Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 200m.
MARAVAGI – On returning to scale was found to have sprung its near hind plate in running.
STELLENBOSCH LOVE – A post race veterinary examination of the mare, which weakened noticeably from a point leaving the 500m, revealed the mare to have a poor post race recovery. Trainer T. Whittington stated that in his opinion the mare failed to back up from its last start at Ballina and he may now give the mare a freshen up.
Race 5: Sun Up Solar QTIS 3YO Ratings Band 0-70 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Hakkasan 2nd – Jetasan 3rd – Where’s Thatdragon 4th – She’s Miss Devine
ANOTHER WHISKEY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
EXTRA SHOT – When questioned as to the tactics adopted App T. Wolfgram stated that he was instructed to take up a position just off the speed. App Wolfgram noted that from the wide barrier he was obliged to pressure the gelding early so as to comply with these instructions and passing the 900m had to continue to pressure the gelding in an effort to clear JETASAN. App Wolfgram further stated that once he was able to clear JETASAN he attempted to restrain the gelding, at which point it commenced to overrace despite his efforts until leaving the 600m, which in his view had a detrimental affect on the gelding’s ability to finish off the race. The explanation was accepted. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and had to be steadied from heels leaving the 200m.
SHE’S MISS DEVINE – Trainer K. Wood reported the filly returned to the enclosure with its tongue over the bit, which may have had a detrimental affect on today’s performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a poor post race recovery. A swab sample was taken.
Race 6: Bernie’s Produce Class 5 H’Cap – 900m
1st – Craiglea Cruz 2nd – Ike’s Legacy 3rd – Tricky Rocket 4th – Miggeru
DEEPEST – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from slight heat stress.
IKE’S LEGACY – Bumped on jumping away.
CAMPIONESSA – Bumped on jumping away. Raced ungenerously passing the 600m, became awkward and lost ground.
TRICKY ROCKET – Approaching the 500m had to be steadied from heels and hung out. Held up in the early stages of the home straight when disappointed for a run.
CRAIGLEA CRUZ – Raced wide throughout.
LOUISIANA ROUGE – Raced wide throughout.
MIGGERU – Raced wide throughout.
Race 7: Assured Management Fillies & Mares Class 3 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Athena Fire 2nd – Stradam 3rd – Love Shuttle 4th – Rock Of Diamonds
KALA’S BELLE – Slow to begin. Leaving the 1000m had to be steadied from heels.
LOVE SHUTTLE - Leaving the 1000m had to be steadied from heels.
ISLA POPPY – Overraced for a considerable distance leaving the 1000m. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
TALON LADY – Leaving the 1000m commenced to overrace and when being steadied from the heels of ATHENA FIRE shifted out, resulting in ROCK OF DIAMONDS having to be checked when tightened for room and lose ground. At a subsequent inquiry stewards were of the view that the racing manners of TALON LADY were a major contributor to the interference suffered by ROCK OF DIAMONDS and as such took no further action.
ROCK OF DIAMONDS – Had to be checked when tightened for room and lost ground leaving the 1000m.
MY MOVE – Raced wide throughout.
IRISH TOFFEE – Raced wide throughout.
CHORUSES - The horse returned after the race displaying some distress and continued to kick out with the off hind. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be sore over the back of the rump. Trainer D. Kelly will be advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to CHORUSES racing again.
Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to a Dead 4 retrospective.
Race 8: Hello Gold Coast BenchMark 75 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Meteorologist 2nd – Meadow Dreamer 3rd – Kid Tycoon 4th – Dunlap
LUCKY DAY KID – Hung out rounding the first turn near the 1400m and had to be steadied from heels.
HIGHLY GENTLE – Raced wide in the early stages. Had to be steadied passing the 50m.
HUSH POWER – Raced wide in the early stages. Had to be eased when tightened for room over the concluding stages.
MYONEROSE – Held up rounding the home turn.
DUNLAP – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
OUTRAGED – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance jockey R. McMahon stated that the gelding failed to travel comfortably at any stage of the race as a result of the wet conditions. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
