STEWARDS REPORT – SATURDAY 16 DECEMBER, 2000
STEWARDS: D. MACKLYN (CHAIRMAN), D. DELFORCE, W. HEMPSEED (HON)
WEATHER FINE. TRACK: SAND
RACING
RACE 1 MAIDEN HCP. 850 METRES (8 STARTERS): NICKEL IN (G. Evans) raced ungenerously at about the 600 metres when resenting the sand being thrown back from the runners in front.
TREVI (D. Rewald) shifted inwards slightly at the 100 metres then shifted outwards abruptly forcing NICKLE IN (G. Evans) to alter course off that runners heels.
RACE 2 CLASS 6 HCP. 1000 METRES (5 STARTERS): RITUAL LADY was scratched by stewards at 1.05pm when the horse failed to arrive on course. After contacting trainer G. Harrison by telephone, stewards were satisfied that she had attempted to scratch RITUAL LADY on Wednesday 13 December, 2000 and due to breakdown in communication this advice was not passed on to the club secretary.
RACE 3 CLASS 3 HCP. 1000 METRES (9 STARTERS): OUR ZAC (D. Simmons) broke through the barriers prior to the start, completed a lap of the course then jumped the outside running rail at the 1100 metres.
Stewards ordered OUR ZAC be a late scatching at 2.39pm.
ROUGH ‘EM UP (M. Barnham) was slow away.
ROUGH ‘EM UP was held up momentarily for clear running in the straight about 100 metres from the finish.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered deductions of 5 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win and place bets and that all moneys wagered on OUR ZAC be refunded.
RACE 4 CLASS 1 HCP. 1194 METRES (9 STARTERS): KEELAWEE ROAD (S. Newton) after beginning slowly raced extremely wide throughout the event.
RACE 5 OPEN HCP. 1194 METRES (7 STARTERS): There were no racing incidents to report.
BOOKMAKERS: Four (4) bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.
SWABBING: All winners were swabbed and the samples obtained were forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
