RACING
RACE 1 CLASS 1 HCP. 850 METRES - (5 STARTERS):. NO CHELONA (B. Appo) was slow away.
RACE 2 MAIDEN HCP. 1000 METRES - (3 STARTERS):. PIALAH (B. Appo) was slow away.
RACE 3 CLASS 4 HCP. 1194 METRES - (5 STARTERS): Both ROUGH ‘EM UP (M. Barnham) and BENNIHI (M. Lehmann) were both slow away.
RACE 4 CLASS 2 HCP. 1194 METRES - (7 STARTERS): TOP BOWL (J. Stephens) was scratched at the barrier by veterinary advise at 3.23pm when the gelding was found to be lame in the off side front leg. Stewards ordered deductions to betting of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 11 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets. All monies wagered on TOP BOWL were ordered to be refunded.
There were no racing incidents to report.
RACE 5 GLADSTONE CUP HCP. 1608 METRES – (9 STARTERS): CURRAJONG KING (M. Unwin) jump awkwardly.
OUR CHARIOTEER (L. Timson) was disappointed for a run at the 250 metres when racing inside INTAJAZ (M. Evans) and behind TOTAL GLANCE (J. Dagan).
RACE 6 CLASS 3 HCP. 850 METRES – (8 STARTERS): On returning to scale, jockey B. Appo placed third on JARROD BAY, lodged a protest against second placed GREY COMMANDER ridden by L. Timson for alleged interference at the start. It was established that JARROD BAY who was slow to begin, was crowded for room when GREY COMMANDER stumbled and shifted outwards slightly.
After taking all evidence from all parties and after viewing the patrol films, Stewards deemed that JARROD BAY had suffered some interference however the interference was not sufficient to warrant the reversal of placings and the protest was dismissed.
Trainer L. Kiernan was fined the sum of fifty dollars for breaching AR140a when he was found to be negligent in the saddling of both CIVIC RIVALRY and CUTTING EDGE.
BOOKMAKERS: Five (5) bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.
SWABBING: All winners were sent to be swabbed and those obtained forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
