GLADSTONE TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 24th JULY 2004
STEWARDS PANEL: J. WALLIS (CHAIRMAN) G. MEEK
WEATHER – FINE TRACK – SAND
RACE 1: CLASS 6 HANDICAP 850 METRES (6 STARTERS)
PRINCESS PEARL (T. Kruger) failed to show any speed and finished well back.
RACE 2: CLASS B HANDICAP 1000 METRES (8 STARTERS)
Prior to being loaded into the barriers TEPEQUAR dislodged it’s rider D. Whitmore and travelled a considerable distance before being caught by the clerk of the course.
TEPEQUAR was inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon and cleared to start.
As the start was affected SYRIA (R. Hall) reared in the air and lost considerable ground.
Shortly after the start MR KNOW IT ALL (M. Evans) drifted out and
CLAYMORE (S Quick) shifted in slightly causing TEPEQUAR (D Whitmore) to steady.
RED GOER (J. Stephens) lost ground in the middle stages. Jockey J. Stephens stated that the horse failed the handle sand track.
On returning to scale THE GOLDEN GOAL (L. Timson) became entangled in the placegetters stalls and flipped over backwards dislodging L. Timson who struck the rail heavily. L. Timson was treated by the Ambulance Officer and was found to have bruising to the right side rib cage and hip.
THE GOLDEN GOAL was treated by the veterinarian for minor lacerations.
RACE 3: CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1517 METRES (7 STARTERS)
No racing incidents to report.
RACE 4: MAIDEN PLATE 1194 METRES (7 STARTERS)
On jumping BEE JAYS MAGIC (S Quick) jumped in the air losing ground.
DAD FORTELLS (D. Rewald) jumped outwards making contact with NED’S SUGGESTION (C Beets).
RACE 5: QTIS 3 & 4yo CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1194 METRES (5 STARTERS)
On jumping STARLIGHT QUEEN (S. Quick) and GOLDEN TARAC (T. Kruger) came together.
Jockey D Evans was questioned regarding the poor showing of SIMULATOR. He stated that the horse travelled well to the home turn and then failed to run on. He could offer no explanation. Stewards ordered a veterinary examination of that horse prior to its renominating..
RACE 6: GLADSTONE NEWMARKET HANDICAP 1194 METRES (10 STARTERS)
After jumping CRAIGLEA EGO (J. Stephens) was hampered as a result of
KINGDOM ROCK (M. Radecker) jumping outwards and taking CRAIGLEA EGO out onto GAINLY LAD (R. Hall). MONEY PIT (T. Kruger) was slow into stride.
