SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Trainer J. Manzelman was fined a total of $100 for presenting SHOW SEEKER (Race 3) and REPEAT OFFENDER (Race 4) with incorrect gear.

Race 1: Tradelink Maiden Plate- 1194 metres
1st – MARYWHO 2nd – WOODEN EYE JOE 3rd - BELLA PRINCIPESSA 4th – MRSOOTY

OWIE (S. Evans) was difficult to load.

BRAVE KALA (App. A Taylor) jumped away awkwardly.

BUCHANAN BOY raced uncompetitively throughout and raced at the rear of the field. A post-race veterinary inspection of BUCHANAN BOY failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer R. Bartholdt was advised the gelding would be required to pass an official barrier trial prior to its next race start. Mr. Bartholdt advised it was his intention to now retire the gelding.

Race 2: Rosella Park School Class 6 Plate- 1194 metres
1st - SUBTLE GLANCE 2nd - RED TARN 3rd - SWORD OF HONOUR 4th – COUNTERSHY

SWORD OF HONOUR (L. Dillon) jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

COUNTERSHY (R. Hall) raced wide throughout.

HATANGI (App. C. Pye) bumped on a number of occasions with HANDY HERO in the straight.

Race 3: Green Pepper Catering Class 3 Plate - 1517 metres
1st - LLEYTON 2nd – FLAMING NOTE 3rd - LUNAR ROCKET 4th – HARDLY A GAME

As no rider was available to ride at or close to the allotted weight of TIA JANESSE, Jockey D. Whitmore was permitted to ride the filly 1 kilogram overweight. Jockey D. Whitmore was fined $100 AR 120 (b)

LLEYTON (A. Coome) escaped riderless from barrier attendants whilst being loaded, was quickly recaptured and took its place in the field.

TUSCANY AFFAIR (R. Hall) was slow away.

At approximately the 1300 metres, TIA JANESSE (D. Whitmore) hung out slightly and was steadied across the heels of HARDLY A GAME (L. Dillon).

Stewards questioned Jockey R. Hall and Trainer L Kiernan in relation to the performance of TUSCANY AFFAIR. Jockey Hall explained that the gelding took up a position at the rear of the field, as per its usual racing pattern, and when placed under pressure from approximately the 800 metres failed to respond to his riding and was, in his opinion, disappointing. Mr. Kiernan explained that while TUSCANY AFFAIR was racing out of its class, he had expected a better performance and believed the gelding was not suited by the quick back-up from recent racing. While he would continue with its current preparation, it was his intention to freshen the gelding up for future engagements and space those accordingly. A post-race veterinary inspection failed to reveal any abnormalities. Mr. Kiernan was advised to inform Stewards if any thing became apparent that may have had a bearing on its performance.

Race 4: Xport Plumbing Open Handicap- 850 metres
1st – ANDURIL 2nd - LADY IN SILK 3rd – SIR SOMETHING 4th – SNAGAPOT

Jockey A. Coome reported TOP’S LAD was not suited by the distance of today’s event and was of the opinion that the gelding performed better at distances of 1000 metres or more and that while TOP’S LAD had previously won at this distance, there had been considerable speed in this event.

When questioned in relation to the performance of ANDURIL, Trainer R. Vagg stated the gelding was best suited by the distance of 850 metres and had met better class fields in recent races.

Race 5: Gums Pet Resort Class B Handicap- 850 metres
1st - ZAHOO 2nd - LEEWANGO 3rd - MOLLY BE SMART 4th – DAD’S BEST MATE

A warning was placed on DAD’S BEST MATE in relation to its pre-race behaviour.

At the start, IMPENETRABLE (A. Coome) was tightened between MOLLY BE SMART (S. Evans) and DAD’S BEST MATE (App. C. Pye) both of which shifted ground.

DAD’S BEST MATE raced wide throughout.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
