Race 1: General Neidym Maiden Handicap- 850 metres
1st – BARCOLLA MAGIC 2nd – DELANNIKA 3rd – DUBLEIT 4th- HEJARA PRINCESS
BOOMTOWN STAR (A. Badger) was slow into stride.
DUBLEIT (App D McWhinney) began a little awkwardly.
OPEN SESAME (App B Floyd) was slow to begin and raced wide throughout the race.
Race 2: Phelan Ready QTIS Maiden Plate- 1194 metres
1st – MARTY 2nd – RIO VISTA 3rd – PINSETTER 4th – ROCK A WHILE
DUAN THEO was declared a late scratching at 9.40am due to no available rider.
MARTY (J. Stephens) jumped out and made contact with HOODED DESTINY (A. Badger).
BRACE FOR IMPACT (App D. McWhinney) was slow to begin.
PINSETTER (D. Hayse) and CAN DRAGONS FLY (App K Gates) raced wide throughout.
RIO VISTA (D. Gill) hung out on the home turn, made contact with MARTY on two occasions and took that gelding wider on the track.
Race 3: Testa Rossa Class B Handicap- 1194 metres
1st – FOMALSTAR 2nd – DON’T TELL ALI 3rd – TIGERLICIOUS 4th – SNOW CHOICE
TIGERLICIOUS (App K Gates) was slow into stride.
Shortly after the start, SNOW CHOICE (J. Stephens) shifted out slightly and brushed COAL COMMAND (App B Floyd).
CONTO (App A Kitson) and SAUKENUK (D. Hayse) raced wide throughout.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of COAL COMMAND, App B Floyd stated she had been instructed to obtain a forward position if possible, however was unable to do so and raced in a three wide position until near the 600m at which time the gelding was eased and shifted out to race to the outside of SAUKENUK. App Floyd further stated that when placed under pressure the gelding responded somewhat however failed to run on in the straight and may not have handle the sand racing surface.
When questioned regarding the performance of DUAN ALLIBAR, Jockey A Badger stated the mare had travelled well until challenged for the lead prior to the home turn and commenced to give ground. Jockey Badger stated the mare may have lacked fitness and would derive benefit from the run and also that the distance of this event may not have been suitable at this stage of its preparation.
Race 4: St Jude BM 75 Handicap- 1000 metres
1st – BLAZE TO FORTUNE 2nd – TWOGUNDAN 3rd – COUNTY SHERRIF 4th – ZAHMAO
BJORN WARRIOR (J. Stephens) lay out in the early stages and on rounding the home turn, again lay out and raced ungenerously in the straight.
Race 5: Lovely Jubly Class 2 Handicap - 1517 metres
1st – FOUAREE 2nd – FEROCITY BLUE 3rd – SANSIRA 4th – RANGER HILL
FOUAREE (D. Hayse) raced wide throughout the race.
