RACE 1:
THANKS & FAREWWELL LARRY PRINCE CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1200M
Jockey J Sharp replaced Jockey J Warrington on HIGH REWARDS as J Warrington could not supply a doctor’s certificate after being stood down at Toowoomba on the 16/03/2002.
Approaching the 800m PITY OF LOVE, which raced up onto the heels of COLOSSUS, had to be eased and shifted out.
Approaching the 400m LET FLY rolled in slightly inconveniencing ARCOT.
ARCOT shifted out abruptly shortly after passing the winning post pulling up just short of the fence. Trainer Barry Strong was advised that the horse would have a warning placed against it.
RACE 2:
WAGNERS CONCRETE CLASS 1 H’CAP - 1000M.
Jockey M Kawaguchi replaced Jockey A Morrison as the rider of LUNA BAY when A Morrison was stood down due to heat stress.
WINDY JIM was slow to begin.
SPRIT OF COOLONG jumped out at the start making contact with MOONSTRIKE.
At approximately the 800m SPRIT OF COOLONG was forced to race in restricted room between AVON WALTZ and MOONSTRIKE, which shifted in.
RACE 3:
ST PATRICKS DAY OPEN H’CAP - 1000M.
WEERIBEE jumped in at the start making heavy contact with JOYAGIRL inturn forcing that mare in onto DOCTOR FLASH.
At the 900m WEERIBEE shifted in making contact with JOYAGIRL inturn forcing that mare in onto DOCTOR FLASH, which had to check severely and lost ground.
Jockey J Warrington rider of WEERIBEE was found guilty of careless riding in this incident at the 900m and was suspended for a period of 4 meetings to begin midnight Sunday 17/03/2002 and to expire midnight Sunday the 24/03/2002. In assessing penalty for this incident stewards took into account that J Warrington was about to start a position in New Caledonian steward felt that under the circumstances ending J Warringtons’ suspension prior to taking up said position was warranted.
Leaving the 900m TURF ACE shifted in abruptly forcing WEERIBEE in onto JOYAGIRL and farther in onto ROMAN GOD forcing that gelding to check and lose considerable ground.
Apprentice Z Landry rider of TURF ACE was found guilty of careless riding when she allowed her mount to shift in abruptly. Apprentice Z Landry was suspended for a period of 6 meetings to begin midnight 17/03/2002 and to end midnight 30/03/2002. In assessing the penalty stewards took in to account that this was only Apprentice Z Landry’s forth ride in a race.
RACE 4:
Q.B.B.S SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M.
Jockey M Kowaguchi as the rider of JUST ROBBERY replaced Jockey L Morrison, when Jockey L Morrison failed to arrive on corse. An inquiry will be held into the reasons for L Morrisons’ absence.
WHIPPA jumped in at the start making heaving contact with GUS’S BEAUTY.
JUST ROBBERY was slow to begin.
BOORINGA LAD was slow to begin.
WHIPPA, which tailed off in the early and middle stages of the event resented the debris through back by the other runners.
At approximately the 900m as the field connected with the course proper JUST ROBBERY appeared to shift in and away from the dust which had been thrown back by the rest of the field and in doing so dislodged Apprentice M Kuwaguchi.
Trainer Ken Dowling was advised that the horse would be required to jump out prior to its next start.
Making the home turn SYLVAN DANDY hung out slightly across the heels of LITTLE CHIP.
RACE 5:
RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB PUNTERS POSTMORTEM MAIDEN H'CAP – 1400M.
BWANA YEATS slow to begin.
QUEEN BESS slow to begin.
Over the concluding stages CELMAC shifted out onto the running of LADY KARAJAN forcing apprentice Z Landry to stop riding to avoid the heels of CELMAC.
Jockey P Clarke rider of CELMAC was severally reprimanded in this incident.
ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED.
