RACE 1: GOONDIWINDI B & S COMMITTEE MAIDEN PLATE – 1100m
MISS VENEZUELA was slowly into stride and raced wide throughout.
Both Trainer G Taylor and Jockey R Kerwin were questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of EMAJAZI. Trainer G Taylor stated that he was at a loss to explain the performance and that he had supported the filly in todays’ event. Jockey R Kerwin stated that at the 800m, GOLD LIGHTNING shifted in slightly causing EMAJAZI to be inconvenienced and from that point resented the dust being thrown back. Explanations were noted.
RACE 2: WAGGAMBA SHIRE COUNCIL CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000m
SWEET CHARLOTTE was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 12:30pm after it was established that the mare was starting at another venue.
RAVENOUS lost ground approaching the 750m, when racing in restricted room to the inside of COSTA AZZURA.
Leaving the 700m, BUSH DOCTOR was forced to ease from heels and lost ground.
ADAM’S ANT hung out from the 500m making the home turn wide.
RACE 3: WATTLE BRAE STUD DOWNS SERIES CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1200m
CANADIAN LORD was slow to begin.
Approaching the 800m, CANADIAN LORD was forced to ease slightly when racing to the inside of BUSH PILOT, which was tightened for room to the inside of ROSE BONBON, which shifted in.
CANADIAN LORD dipped making the home turn losing ground. Mr M Hicks the trainer of CANADIAN LORD, which raced disappointingly advised that he would notify stewards if anything came to light in the coming days.
RACE 4: GOURMET IN GUNDY QUAILITY OPEN H'CAP – 1400m
No racing incidents.
RACE 5: GOONDIWINDI TOWN COUNCIL CLASS B H'CAP – 1400m
DARBY ROSER, which was fractious in the barriers sustained an injury to the off hind leg and was subsequently withdrawn by the stewards on veterinary advise at 4:10pm. Deduction of 13c win and 12c place, were ordered on the withdrawal. Connection of DARBY ROSER, were advised that a further barrier certificated and veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to next start.
CALL ME ARTIE reared as the start was affected losing considerable ground.
