Weather: Fine Track: Good

Before racing commenced the stewards interviewed Jockey k rocket regarding the replacement of rider for My Design R.4. that he had never accepted the ride and informed Trainer R Johnston that he was unable to make the allocated weight as soon as he learned that he had been placed on the horse. Mr Johnson confirmed this statement.

RACE 1 Hepworth Jewellers Maiden Handicap 1000 Metres 6 Starters
The start of this race was delayed 20 minutes to await the arrival of the ambulance. As the gates opened Hula Rules jumped outwards making contact with Alimay (Ms D Philpot) Nativeno (Ms L Buckingham) raced greenly and ran wide at the 600 metres position.

RACE 2 Marino Moller Lawyers Open Handicap 1000 Metres 6 Starters
Wills Secret (Ms L Buckingham) was slow to leave the starting stalls, and moved out after leaving the gates. Wills Secret continued to race wide throughout the rest of the race.

RACE 3 Class 6 1360 Metres 5 Starters
Channel 7 Federation Cup
At the 500-metre position Unrestrain (F Edwards) eased to avoid the heels of Hottentot (E Kowald).

RACE 4 Class 2 1100 Metres 6 Starters

Jockey I Toward replaced R Ryan as rider of He’ll Be Right when Ryan was unable to make the allotted weight. At approximately the 650-metre position Diamond in Dubai clipped the heels of He’ll B Right (I Toward) and dislodged its rider (D Crossland). An inquiry into this incident was opened, some evidence taken and after viewing the video patrol film of the race the inquiry was adjourned to allow Mr J Caught, Master of Apprentice Ms N Nomann to be present, and to allow the Stewards to interview Mrs R Ingliss the Trainer of Millies Bid. Apprentice D Crossland was examined by paramedical staff and was declared fit to continue his riding engagements. At the 100 metres, My Design (S Morris) shifted out causing Circim Pacific (F Edwards) to ease momentarily.

RACE 5 Class 3 Plate 1100 Metres 6 Starters
XXXX Gold Coral Classic 3 Year Old
Jockey R Ryan was unable to make the allocated weight on Gentilic Belle and was replaced by F Edwards. In the final 10 Metres of the race. Kid Candy (D Crossland), which was making up ground on the outside of Amarante (G Philpot) shifted in making contact with that horse.




RACE 6 Class 4 Handicap 1100 Metres 10 Starters
The Hambledon Hotel Reef ‘N’ Rainforest
As the gates opened Spring Regent (T Ono) jumped outwards making contact with Cooyong (G Philpot) at the 700-metre position. Spring Regent eased to avoid the heels of horses in front.
After passing the winning post Morries Finito faltered and was pulled up by rider D Crossland. The gelding was examined by the Club’s veterinary surgeon and found to have fractured its off fore sesamoid. Morries Finito was humanely euthanased.

General

Jockey R Ryan was fined $30 for being overweight on He’ll Be Right and $30 for being overweight on Gentilic Belle under the terms of AR120(b).
